Answer:	Yes, when I ordered the refurbished version, it came with a battery, the charger, the lens and the camera strap. Sadly, it did not come with a Victoria's Secret supermodel to pose for me. But otherwise, it came with everything you needed to use the camera except for the memory card, which you will have to purchase separately.

Answer:	Several reasons: First, it is a Nikon, the Rolls Royce of cameras. I have had only Nikons ever since I bought my first F2 in 1972. Second, because it has the same megapixels and processor and features as the more expensive D600. So, with very little investment you get an almost professional camera..
