User questions & answers
Question: | Are there cards from Moana in this edition |
Answer: | I gave this game as a gift. It is very fun. I don’t recall if there were questions about Moana. So sorry. |
Question: | we have the original disney version of this game - is this version different than the original disney version |
Answer: | It is partially different in 2 senses. First, the Apples to Apples wording is designed differently. Two, there are new Disney cards from films from 2010-2016; Frozen, Inside Out, and Zootopia to name a few. |
Question: | Is there a picture on every red card |
Answer: | Yes, there is a picture on every card. Some of the words are fairly abstract and hard to show in a picture. A non-reading player would need some help. |
Question: | The age range starts at 7, is it possible a 5 year old could play with minimal help |
Answer: | It’s possible depending on the 5 year old’s reading level. You are given a word, and have to find a card from your hand to match the word. Young children may need help understanding the words used. Most are easy like “Nasty”, “Funny”, others are harder like “Entertaining”, “Interesting”. In your hand the cards have a written description, along with a picture from a Disney movie. But the picture isn’t always a perfect match if you can’t read your cards. For example, there is a card that says “zooming” with a picture of buzz and woody flying in the air. There’s a card that says “swamp”, but the picture is of a Llama watching a frog from Emperor’s New Grove. The picture alone doesn’t tell you what the card says if you can’t read it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the board game a different game and sold separately |
Answer: | Yes. This is a completely different game and sold separately than the board game. It is similar in that you are finding things in the pictures but this is a quicker type of game than the board game. |
Question: | We found a broken sand-timer when we opened the game. Does anyone know how much time the sand-timer is set for? Thank you |
Answer: | The cheapest solution is to visit a thrift store and buy a $2 copy of Yahtzee or any other game that has a sand timer. However, if the game was shipped and sold by Amazon, see if it's within your return window for a refund. |
Question: | Does anyone know how many there are of each mystery item? Some Goldbug items we're able to find 10 (# of magnifying glasses), do they all have |
Answer: | We've been wondering the same thing! My kids are convinced there are 10 of each item, even though we haven't been able to locate them all. |
Question: | what age group |
Answer: | My 2-yr old absolutely loves this game. She plays the game with us for hours. I bought 5-6 toddler/preschooler board games and no other games could ever have her engaged for that long. She gets confused about two aspects of the game though: 1) she may start looking for objects from a previous turn while undertaking the current Goldbug search; 2) reaching the island does not seem to be her goal of the game - she's too happy to share the food with the pigs. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Could you play with only two people |
Answer: | If you use the official app that can generate all possible configurations of 9 red/blue, 8 blue/red, 7 bystanders, and 1 assassin, then you get 25C9*16C8*8C7 kinds of key cards *2 for swapping red and blue, you have 200 cards each with two sides that cannot be shown simultaneously: *400*398*396*394*....*354*352 and the position of the cards don't matter so / 25! = 6.382847706*10^50 or 638,284,770,600,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 possible states. For folks with spatial OCD that think position matters, remove the 25! and the answer is 9.90057*10^75. |
Question: | How many people can play this game? I am having 3 people |
Answer: | Having played this game (for the first time just yesterday), I really don't think that people will develop a "code". Kind of like Dixit, it is pretty free association for the images. Since the what, where, and who are random with a number of combinations and there are quite a few pictures, it will be very difficult to line up patterns all that much. I found it was pretty hard, in most cases, for the "ghost" to pick a good picture, so most of the selections were quite "out there". A lot of free association and using what other players were selecting to reduce the number of choices, it was a bit more possible to narrow things down.I believe that this will be a very replayable game but I also expect that after a few games, the players will get better at both picking pictures to associate and figuring out what the picture might mean, but not so much because of the selection of pictures but more because the thinking processes for both the ghost and the players will become more refine through learning how to pick.Overall, I find it to be a pretty good game.DaveBoardgames4us |
Question: | Can you order replacement cups? I see in one of the photos/video that you use your mouth to pick up the cup |
Answer: | I've played it as both a 2 player game and a 7 player party game. 7 player version is better, but it's fun enough as a two player game that it's one of our go to games for my husband and me. |
Question: | Can you buy replacement cups?? We cracked one already |
Answer: | Absolutely worth owning both. The gameplay mechanics and reasoning behind them are quite different. Whitechapel is about DEDUCTIVE reasoning based on Jack's hidden movement and trail. Players triangulate where the Jack player is based on where he has been. Sometimes there is only one solution. Pure logic. Mysterium's gameplay is all about INDUCTIVE reasoning. There can be more than one possible solution and gameplay is about getting inside another player's head to understand the solution they chose. Both Fabulous games. Mysterium is more accessible and family friendly. Non-gamers can get into it right away, while Whitechapel is more demanding. Whitechapel is more similar to Fury of Dracula, another great game that has just been republished. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many cards per box and are there expansion packs |
Answer: | 6 double sided cards (they are boards really, not cards). I haven't seen an expansion pack- you could probably photocopy the board and laminate them though. |
Question: | what age group is this for |
Answer: | My son loved it around 4-5 but at 7 he has lost interest. He’s on to more complicated games now. |
Question: | Since here are images on the tiles, would you say that this game will help little ones learn to read words? I'm afraid they'll just stick to the image |
Answer: | Yes, seeing the letters and the picture does help little children learn to read words. You can reinforce the letter-word association by quickly reviewing each tile after the game has ended. Cover either the photo or the letters and ask the child to identify what is covered, but don't let this review detract from the fun of the game. If you take a peek at alphabet books for little children, you will see a picture that begins with the letter on that particular page, helping the child learn the sounds of letters. |
Question: | What is the difference between zingo word builder game and thinkfun's what's gnu game? thank you |
Answer: | I don't have the game What's Gnu. Based upon the description, they seem very similar. The different seems to be that Zingo Word Builder has three words per card and is played more like a challenge game. What's Gnu seems to be true world building, card by card. I purchased Zingo because I have multiple Zingo games in my classroom. Once the students learned to play one game, they could easily figure out how to play Zingo 1-2-3, Word Builder, Sight Word, etc. Hope this helps. |
