Answer:	Our grinder broke too. Without much use, very disappointing as my grandson loved it even tho he couldn’t do that part by himself. I had to push playdough in firmly while he turned it. The handle stripped and quit working properly. Papa couldn’t even fix it and he can fix about anything.

Answer:	Yes. They are plastic, with no sharp blade. My grandson has tried the scissors on pretty much everything without damage. But they do work to cut playdough.
