Question: | Does this plug in to a standard wall outlet or need to be hard wired to 110 at the breaker panel |
Answer: | Great Question! The end caps are removable so that you can take them out to butt the end hard up against a ceiling or whatever it be. If you were to butt the end up against a ceiling with the caps in, there is no way to ensure levelness. |
Question: | does it come with the upgrades or is that extra |
Answer: | No, this level (I have the 8' version) is not magnetic, but it is lightweight. |
Question: | What is the duty cycle |
Answer: | Usually UPS |
Question: | I want to get a 110v Mig unit. How would this be for a "Beginner" model? I am also considering Longevity Migweld 140 and Eastwood 135. Thanks |

User questions & answers
Question: | What’s the highest amperage output on 120v |
Answer: | yes it plugs into a regular wall outlet the 140 amp is the highest you can go before you go to 220 plug |
Question: | how good is it on 24 or 22 g metal? do you wish you bought a machine with infinte settings vs tapped? are you happy with it |
Answer: | Hi Oscar, it comes with all the upgrades, you can see the great quality of this welder as soon as you get it out of the box, get this welder you won't be disappointed. |
Question: | Is the feed head plastic or metal |
Answer: | A duty cycle is the amount of time that you can actually work in a given amount of time. An example for the Hobart is if it has a 20% duty cycle then you could actually weld 2 minutes out of 10 minutes. Usually the less amps you weld at, the higher the duty cycle. I hope this helps. |
Question: | is this a good choice for someone with no experience in welding? if not can u point me in the direction of something that is? just trailer mounts |
Answer: | bought a multi-process Longevity that lasted 4 yrs as a hobby machine. When the plasma cutter portion went out, all that the company wanted to do was sell me a new unit at 10% discount. No service. No repair. No assistance. You pay your money, you take your chances Good luck |

User questions & answers
Question: | can it weld cast iron |
Answer: | The welding amperage range is 25-140 amps on 120 volts. Same output as the Handler 140 (which can ONLY operate on 120v.) The Handler 210 works good on 120 volts, and even better on 240 volts, if you have a 240 volt receptacle to use. I made an adapter cable to plug into my dryer outlet at home. Works great. |
Question: | Can this welder use the 10# spool of wire |
Answer: | its a great welder. i mainly run it on 220volts. just welded up my frame and made hardcore plate bumper. very strong. i also had to make floor pans out of 18 gauge. the original pans were probably only 22 and some spots kinda thin. it did very well. half way through i ran out of wire and had to use 0.35 flux and still performed well. the settings are fine and honestly only use three of them one for thin another for exhaust and than all the way with thick. i mainly change the wire speed. i have ran at max for probably too long many times and no problems. only tricky thing was first setting up wire tension. now it never jams. overall love it |
Question: | is it 110 or |
Answer: | The wire feed mechanism on this model used to be plastic but was updated to all metal parts a few years ago. That is what I remember reading when I was researching welders before I bought mine. I bought my unit about a year ago and it came with all metal wire feed components. I hope that is what you are asking. If not let me know exactly what you need and I'll look at my unit closer when I get home. |
Question: | Does this welder need gas or is it gasless |
Answer: | I sold and used welding equipment for 35 years. This process along with the easy settings on this machine make it the easiest to learn for someone with no experience. A simple way to learn is to follow the settings provided for the metal and thickness shown on the label. Hold the tip of the gun 1/2 inch from the metal and make a "spot" weld in one place for a few seconds without moving the gun. Watch the spot weld form and stop when it gets to a size between a pea and a dime. Let the spot cool a little until it is not red anymore. Move the tip of the gun one half the diameter of the first spot and make another one the same size. Do this over and over again until you get very good at judging the size of the spot weld and can make a series of overlapping spots of the same size. At that point you can progress to making a continuous weld. It's a lot like spray painting or running a sewing machine, learn to watch the results not the process. It's a very big help to have a welding helmet that is clear until the arc starts and then darkens so you don't have to worry about flipping down your hood and starting on the right spot at the same time. The auto darkening helmet adds to the cost of the purchase but makes it much easier to learn an use. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would the predator 9000 generator with 7250 continues run this and your larger inverter welders |
Answer: | The Hobart IronMan 230 is made in the U.S.A. and backed by Hobart's industry-leading 5-3-1 industrial warranty. You get a 5-year warranty on transformers, stabilizers, reactors, rectifiers, rotors, stators and brushes; a 3-year warranty on drive systems, PC boards, solenoid valves, switches and controls; and 1-year warranty on plasma torches, MIG guns, relays, contactor, triggers, regulator, accessories, spoolguns, battery, field options and running gear. (90-day limited warranty for industrial use). Normal wear items such as drive rolls, contact tips, nozzles, gas diffusers, plasma torch tips, electrodes and weld cables are not covered under this warranty. |
Question: | Where can I get a new welding torch that’s longer than the one supplied with this welder will the US pro welding 15 footer fit on this welder |
Answer: | My welder only came with .030 tubular 0.035 solid wheel. I recall that being an order able accessory. Not 100% sure but I thought it was suppose to have a #2 roll of FC. Overall, it’s been a damn good welder and I’d recommend it. |
Question: | Can use 10 pound spool wire |
Answer: | We ship this item at no charge. Thank you |
Question: | When using 110V, can you effectively weld 1/4”? If not, what’s the maximum capacity when using 110V |
Answer: | I think what you are asking is what the duty cycle is. It all depends on the heat setting you are using at the time. The duty cycle at about 140 amps is close to 100%, and drops to about 30% at 250 amps. I don't know what you will be welding, but even on pretty heavy iron (3/8" or so) using .035 solid wire and co2/ argon gas, I seldom ever use more than 125, to 140 amps, so I never exceed the 100% duty cycle. But I also very seldom have long enough welds at a time to matter. The welder I had before I bought the Ironman 230, was just a 150 amp with about a 30% duty cycle at 120 amps, and it was still going after nearly 30 years, and I used it for some pretty big projects. |

User questions & answers
Question: | This come with the welding wire |
Answer: | I'm sorry it took as long as it did for me to answer you. I have no prior knowledge of this Predator generator and I had to look that up. I also would like to preface what I'm about to say with I am not a generator expert. Also I wanted to be sure that I looked up the specific amperage draws of our different welders. The formula for calculating the answer to your question is pretty straight forward. Generators measure their output in Watts in order to determine what wattage is necessary the formula is as follows... Volts X Amps = Watts. The machine you are asking about runs 7250 continuous Watts but it does not take into account what percentage of fluctuation of output amperage this machine makes, how clean is this machine? How reliable is the output amperage? I have no idea but let's plug the numbers in assuming the machine can maintain a relatively stable output. The model 155 draws max 25.4 amps on 230V in MIG mode or, 5842 watts. It draws 26.7amps on 230V in stick mode or, 6141 watts. So for this small machine it would appear yes all else being ok. Now, for example, our 200 amp MIG draws in MIG mode 35.7 amps at 230 V or, 8211 watts. It draws 41.7 amps in stick mode at 230 V or, 9591 watts. So for our larger inverters, it would appear no, that generator cannot provide sufficient output to run the welders at full potential welding power. |
Question: | What type of .30 tip? Thread pitch? Size |
Answer: | So only going by the pictures this appears to be a Tweco style gun similar to what the older Lincoln’s ran. Unfortunately you will have to find out what the US pro welding gun has for a back end. |
Question: | Is the wire supposed to move really slow even turned all the way up |
Answer: | No, not on the 155 model. 2lb |
Question: | Do you know what the power output is turned all the way down |
Answer: | This question really is more a generic question than it is specific to any brand welder. If you're giving it half the power it can use. Generally, you can figure you're going to get half the result. So prepared properly and possibly a little bevel, 1/8in would be about max Remember voltage is the pressure or pushing force of the amperage or heat. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work for. Millermatic |
Answer: | In order to use the Forney Easy Weld 140 MP with gas you will have to purchase a regulator (85363) and gas hose (85663). Thank you for your question. |
Question: | Will it fit Hobart |
Answer: | It's an efficiency thing. If you double the voltage, you get the same power with half the current. You will see a very small drop in your power bill (no you won't, the difference is too small) with a 240v appliance over a 120v appliance that does the same thing. This welder does use a lot of power. If you have a 240v plug available where you are working, you should use it. If you only have 120v at the work site you have to use it but you will draw more current for the same work, your extension cords will get hotter, you will pop breakers/fuses more often at high welding currents. The welder itself doesn't care, and the person doing the welding won't care. |
Question: | Will this fit a Millermatic 130 welder with an M15 gun |
Answer: | No, this is a very nice light-duty welder. It is set up for 120V supply. It comes with a standard 30A USA 120v plug, along with an adapter for the normal 20A outlets commonly found in US buildings. I admit that I couldn't find the adapter at first, because it was shipped already on the power cord. The welder works very well for my needs. |
Question: | Will this fit a Hobart 180 handler |
Answer: | Hello! This machine is DC output only so it will not be able to TIG weld aluminum. Thank you for your question! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this fit a longevity 140 mig welder |
Answer: | Probably, depending on which gun is on the welder. For sure the contact tips will work. If you have the M100/M10 gun these are all of the correct parts. The M25 guns use different nozzles & tip holder/diffusers. One way to tell is to measure the length of the gas nozzle. The gas nozzle in this (169-715) kit is 1 3/4" long. The nozzles for the larger guns are all over 2 1/2" long. |
Question: | Will this fit the handler 187? is it a complete replacement if so? and why is it 1/4 price of the hobart replacement |
Answer: | If the welder is a newer model welder these parts should fit but if it's a very old welder you might have a gun that was made obsolete many years ago and these parts will not work. Compare the parts in the picture to the parts on your gun. |
Question: | Will this fit a Hobart |
Answer: | more than likely |
Question: | Will this gun fit my Eastwood mug |
Answer: | works on my hobart just fine |
