Answer:	It did heat up quickly, however, I want you to know that I purchased it 28 October 2014 and it quit working in early December. It does have a 7 year warranty, but now I need to find out how to contact Weller.

Answer:	That is the issue with this type of power control, that it won't have consistent temperatures. The resultant temperature will depend on how long you let it pre-heat, how long you let it recover from the last solder joint made, and the tip shape. Let's just say that it does have enough power to melt any solder you'll come across but at only 40W, not necessarily a large pool of it, or if there's a lot of copper to 'sink the heat away, for example on a power or ground plane of a PCB. If specific temperatures are important then you will probably be happier with a temperature regulated iron, where you set the temp wanted and it has a thermal sensor for feedback, or in the case of some wellers (maybe other brands now too) that is built right into the tip to cycle on/off at the temperature of the element you choose to install.
Question:	Should I get this or the Yihua
Answer:	I've put about 3 oz of solder through the original tip (mostly 60/40 flux core) and I also occasionally take 220 grit sandpaper to keep the tip nice and shiny (I've owned this iron for about 2 years). The tip still looks brand new once cleaned up a bit.

Answer:	I didn't know you could cut glass with soldering irons but apparently you can haha. I Googled it "soldering iron to cut glass" haha. This should work just fine for you but it depends how thick the glass is. Wine bottles are thick, it may work but probably take while.

Answer:	I have never used it in a LIPO application, but I have soldered 8 AWG copper wire to 1/4" copper ring terminals and it worked just fine. an 80W soldering iron is pretty hot. It will be difficult to find electric irons with more wattage.

Answer:	Why would you spend $100 to light a bong when you can buy a nice $20 butane torch or a $5 soldering iron if that's what you want to use. This soldering iron would be capable of heating to around 300C. That's more than enough heat to ignite a plant based material. Is it the best? Probably not. Is it safe to use a soldering iron to ignite plant based material? I don't know im not a doctor. The problem is that if you want to keep a tip that heats well then you need to keep solder on the tip or it will burn out and not transfer heat. TLDR: use a butane torch.

Can't say if it's real or not, but that gives it a higher vote of confidence.Quick followup edit, I just took mine apart and confirmed it's real. Real stations use the R5F1007C chip. Fakes are known to use AVRs or PICs. Mine was purchased from ness electronics.

Answer:	I believe that for stained glass you need a wider tip for better heat transfer, these are small so I wouldn't recommend it for that,hope this helps

Question:	Can this soldering iron melt silver wire
Answer:	Not sure what you mean by silver wire. Silver (pure) has a melting point of 1,763°F (around 960°C) so no this soldering iron will not liquefy the silver wire, if your silver wire is a brazing blend of Copper, phosphorus and silver, then this soldering iron will liquefy the base metals just barely, but the silver will stay in what is called solidus form. You may have a 63/37 silver soldering wire, 63% tin, 37% phosphorus/silver alloy, in which case this soldering iron will work just fine... Note: you should never braze or solder with straight Ag (silver) the connection will fail sooner than later, try a 60/40 alloy for electronics and a 15 silver alloy for plumbing... Answer:	i never checked but it does come with an assortment of tips and it works great...

Answer:	The soldering iron comes with different tips - some wide enough to work ok for 14 gauge - but the iron really seems to work best for micro circuits.
Question:	does the ceramic heater at maximum temp maintain the heat output for long periods? looks like this might be a very affordable iron for stained glass
Answer:	As some one who bought this iron the temp can be a bit inconsistent especially while using. You can set it sure but its not accurate and i find myself putting the temp up and down trying to control it. If your are consistently using it than the temp will be low but if it just sits there it gets a bit to hot. As far as stained glass it would seem to me that you would want something a bit bigger as this model is more for electronic and small delicate work. On that note i do not do stained glass so that is just my opinion.
