Answer:	Why would you spend $100 to light a bong when you can buy a nice $20 butane torch or a $5 soldering iron if that's what you want to use. This soldering iron would be capable of heating to around 300C. That's more than enough heat to ignite a plant based material. Is it the best? Probably not. Is it safe to use a soldering iron to ignite plant based material? I don't know im not a doctor. The problem is that if you want to keep a tip that heats well then you need to keep solder on the tip or it will burn out and not transfer heat. TLDR: use a butane torch.

Answer:	Accoding to the HakkoUSA website (under "where to buy"), ness electronics is listed as a retailer. Can't say if it's real or not, but that gives it a higher vote of confidence.Quick followup edit, I just took mine apart and confirmed it's real. Real stations use the R5F1007C chip. Fakes are known to use AVRs or PICs. Mine was purchased from ness electronics.

Answer:	I can only tell you that it worked through dry wall and It did recognize the wood studs around a door. And it worked exactly as described. I suspect that it will work through plaster, but I have no plaster in my house. I looked for the studs around the door to make sure that it worked.

Answer:	Sorry to disagree with the previous answers, but I would definitely say no. In fact, I wouldn't recommend the use of any iron. You will need a torch for making jewelry. You CANNOT use leaded solder for jewelry period, and the usual leadfree solder is not strong enough. Jewelry requires extremely high silver content solder and that requires temperatures in the 1300-1400F degree range. I suggest you watch some YouTube videos on jewelry making if anyone has plans on making jewelry.

Answer:	It comes with tin/lead solder. I have soldered on a cb radio circuit board with thin silver solder though. It did good. No cold solder on the connection. It melts at about 840 degrees. Shooting the tip with my temp gun it was reading between 890 and 905 on the highest setting.

Question:	Can you use this to make jewelry
Answer:	It did heat up quickly, however, I want you to know that I purchased it 28 October 2014 and it quit working in early December. It does have a 7 year warranty, but now I need to find out how to contact Weller.

Question:	What kind of solder is recommended to be used with this station
Answer:	That is the issue with this type of power control, that it won't have consistent temperatures. The resultant temperature will depend on how long you let it pre-heat, how long you let it recover from the last solder joint made, and the tip shape. Let's just say that it does have enough power to melt any solder you'll come across but at only 40W, not necessarily a large pool of it, or if there's a lot of copper to 'sink the heat away, for example on a power or ground plane of a PCB. If specific temperatures are important then you will probably be happier with a temperature regulated iron, where you set the temp wanted and it has a thermal sensor for feedback, or in the case of some wellers (maybe other brands now too) that is built right into the tip to cycle on/off at the temperature of the element you choose to install.
Question:	Should I get this or the Yihua
Answer:	I've put about 3 oz of solder through the original tip (mostly 60/40 flux core) and I also occasionally take 220 grit sandpaper to keep the tip nice and shiny (I've owned this iron for about 2 years). The tip still looks brand new once cleaned up a bit.

Temperature Locking Function

Press LOCK/°C/℉ button for 3 seconds at the same time under working mode, the current temperature will be locked, the temperature won't be changed by turning the knob button, and display LOC for locking temperature. Can unlock the current temperature by pressing LOCK/°C/℉ button for 3 seconds again when temperature locking.



Auto Standby Function

Question:	What is the temperature correction setting
Answer:	The unit has a standard US three prong plug (120VAC 60Hz). The product literature states that the unit has been designed for Electrostatic Protection. ESD safety depends not only on the soldering station but also on the working environment. Be sure to use grounding straps, an ESD mat, and the ground connection provided by the electrical power cord.
Question:	Where can I get more tips
Answer:	Recently purchased this and it did not come with the Euro power plug.
Question:	what iron is it compatable with
Answer:	I do small piece foil lamps and use an 80w SP-Weller for tacking, bridging and rough filing. I use a Weller SP-175W iron for filling, "boil out," finishing and installation of rings, structural wire within the field and bottom rims. This iron is designed for electronics not for stained glass work where the main object is to melt large quantities of 50-50 (I use) fast enough that the molten metal can be "poured" into the joints. This iron couldn't possibly keep up with the heat demand of melting 2-3 pounds at a sitting. I occasionally have to stop with my Weller SP-175 to allow the tip to absorb sufficient heat for boiling out. For came work; 80W Weller iron. It wouldn't be a good idea to switch between electronic and foil work as I use tinner's fluid (basically muriatic acid) for tacking and rough filling; then switch to zinc chloride for finishing. You will seriously damage electronics with an iron used with acids.
