Question: | What's the constant Temperture of these tips |
Answer: | This particular group of soldering iron tips DO NOT have temperature control built into them. They are for the Weller Soldering stations that control the temperature of the tip in the soldering stations. The Tips that you are referring to (600, 700, 800), the temperature is controlled by the thermostatic action of the tip. So if you need to change the soldering temperature in that style of iron you changed the tip to a higher or lower temperature. You have to be careful in buying soldering iron tips and only buy tips that work with and fit your particular soldering iron. I personally have a WES51 Weller iron and it works really well. |
Question: | Will these fit Yihua 939D |
Answer: | No, they won't work with the Yihua 939D+, the Yihua, soldering station, uses the 900seies tips. They're a little bigger in diameter and fit that soldering iron better. |

Product description
Weller transforms hand soldering The art of hand soldering has been around for a very, very long time, thousands of years in fact. But it was only until 1941 that a transformer based instant heating soldering method was developed by an impatient American radio repairman who was tired of sitting around waiting for his soldering gun to heat up. Carl E. Weller had to wait until after WWII ended in 1945 to get his Weller Manufacturing Company going. In 1960, the Weller Manufacturing Co. in the US patented the “Magnastat” soldering iron which used a magnetic component to regulate the temperature at the iron’s tip. In an expansion overseas beginning in 1959, the Weller ElektroWerkzeuge GmbH plant in Besigheim, Germany, along with new plants in other countries, was organized to manufacture temperature controlled irons and soldering guns for primarily industrial markets throughout Europe and the Near East. Keeping pace with the increasing complexity of our customers’ needs, Weller Germany became the market leader for developing and manufacturing hand soldering products worldwide. Our products were proudly emblazoned with “Made in Germany”, signifying innovation and reliability.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this soldering iron come with some solder wire to start with? Also, anyone have recommendations on solder wire to buy for audio cables |
Answer: | The Weller WP35 Professional does not come with Solder. I mostly use 60/40 .015 Rosin core leaded solder |
Question: | Anybody use this for guitar wiring work? I just fried my old standbye and need a new work horse. Thank you |
Answer: | Sean, I use my WP35 35 for all my guitar and amp repair work. I mainly build and repair tube guitar amps, but replace guitar pickups and pots and broken wires from time to time. This is the only iron I use for this work. |
Question: | is this good for working with capacitors on electronics |
Answer: | Depends what type of electronics. I mainly use this iron for working on guitar amplifiers. I also use it for working on effects pedals, but ... if you're not quick, the 35w can be too hot. I also have a 25w pedal, but with newer solder types sometimes 25w isn't enough. So, all around, I'd say yes, this is good for working on electronics with capacitors, but if your speed and skills are in question, use a heat sink on the capacitor to dissipate the heat. If you're working with SMD components, you may or may not be out of luck! Hope this helps ... |
Question: | What applications would I need to use this 35 watt vs the other Weller 100 watt |
Answer: | Wattage is not indicative of maximum tip temperature, but rather how fast the iron will return to temperature following thermal change (soldering a joint, wiping on a wet sponge, etc.). This one and its 25W relative also feature tip temperature regulation, meaning the iron will only heat the tip until it reaches the specified temperature (850F for the 35, 750F for the 25). The WP series irons are like handheld soldering stations with a preset temperature. If the 100W Weller you're referencing is the WLC100 soldering station, it is not temperature regulated. The knob only adjusts the wattage supplied to the iron. You're not really controlling the tip temperature as much as you're controlling the recovery time. If you feel like you a soldering station would better suit your needs, I'd recommend saving up for the professional Weller or Hakko soldering stations. One application in which a handheld such as this is better suited than a soldering station is doing electrical work on your guitar. The transformer in the soldering station can mess up your pickups if it gets too close (that's straight from a Bourns rep in one of their instructional videos). Like others have said, this iron works great for hobby use. I've used it on guitars, pt-to-pt amps, and PCBs. With flux, it will make a Pb-free solder joint on a PCB pad in around 3-4 seconds. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i solder lead seems laps |
Answer: | Hakko headquarters are in Japan. http://www.hakko.com/english/company/profile/outline.html . But who knows where an individual product might be manufactured. |
Question: | Does this model have a fuse of on the primary side of the transformer |
Answer: | There are a number of authorized Hakko distributors. Look on the Hakko USA web site, make sure the one you select on Amazon is listed on there as a true Hakko distributor. |
Question: | Does this station worksbfrom 220 V supply |
Answer: | Why would you spend $100 to light a bong when you can buy a nice $20 butane torch or a $5 soldering iron if that's what you want to use. This soldering iron would be capable of heating to around 300C. That's more than enough heat to ignite a plant based material. Is it the best? Probably not. Is it safe to use a soldering iron to ignite plant based material? I don't know im not a doctor. The problem is that if you want to keep a tip that heats well then you need to keep solder on the tip or it will burn out and not transfer heat. TLDR: use a butane torch. |
Question: | Does this unit have a fuse in it |
Answer: | Accoding to the HakkoUSA website (under "where to buy"), ness electronics is listed as a retailer. Can't say if it's real or not, but that gives it a higher vote of confidence.Quick followup edit, I just took mine apart and confirmed it's real. Real stations use the R5F1007C chip. Fakes are known to use AVRs or PICs. Mine was purchased from ness electronics. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will these fit and work with a Wen 199K, 130 Watt gun |
Answer: | Your stated size of 5/32 converts to 0.15625 inches. I have attempted to measure the shaft with a micrometer. I haven't used it in quite a while, but the measurement appears to be about 0.087 inches. While that might work, I believe it would be too small for a good fit. |
Question: | what are the dimensions of the tips |
Answer: | Yes it will.. but it is difficult to find a quality replacement tip .. I bought a 2 pack and the first one burnt out in no time... I would recommend looking for it elsewhere.. |
Question: | Why do they break so often |
Answer: | 1Package of 2pcs |
Question: | If I order these tips, do they come with the screws to secure the tips |
Answer: | These soldering tips fit the Weller Model D550 (260w/200w) and D650 (300w/200w) dual heat soldering guns. I don’t know what model soldering gun you are describing in your question. |

User questions & answers
Question: | replaceable tip |
Answer: | Yes, the tips drop in, held in place with a screw. |
Question: | Is the tip already tinned |
Answer: | Yes. For a few minutes until it overheats and heavily oxidizes and becomes untinnable. |
Question: | is this the weller soldering iron that has a thread in tip |
Answer: | We check and there's NO thread in tip note Tech Support . |
Question: | Any updates or recent experience on the often mentioned quickly corroded tip? It is still not durable |
Answer: | Mine corroded and faded away pretty quick. Got some replacemet tips and became religious about tinning the tip at the start of a session and end. Be sure to unplug if your going to leave it for anytime at all. These dont really have any kind of heat regulation that i can tell. they will dump all their power all the time. So when you leave your iron in the stand it will get into the 900 degree range pretty quick. and that will eat your tip in no time. If you plan on doing any long sessions id say get a cheap soldering station. much easier to use and only a little more expensive if you pick up a hakko clone |
