Answer:	I honestly have not tried that phase of the machine. But in general the machine works quickly overall. The coffee is heated to perfection, making each cup delicious. It only stays on the heated phase for the hotplate for 49 minutes after it’s done brewing... coffee is never burnt. I love this pot.

Answer:	I don’t know what a BPA is. I choose to use the #2 cone paper coffee filters in it instead of the reusable filter it came with. For me it is easier to throw out the grounds in the paper filter. I’ve had it 3 months, use it every day and really like it.
