Answer:	This is a tool best tuned for houses. Definitely not wide enough range for a grill. I have an IR thermometer I bought for my car years ago that has a very wide temp range -- I'd recommend something not made for figuring out where your house is loosing heat if you want to use with grill and cars. I think my other one does up to like 900 or 1200F.

Answer:	Similar! But accuracy/procedure different. One is infrared, kitchen temp,accurate is best attained by probe/gauge/ dial, the B&D leak detector? I have a $2,500.00 so called state of the art, professional contractors tool! And the B&D does almost as precision results! In closing, very good tool. Question:	So how is this any different than a non-contact IR thermometer
Answer:	The most important difference between this and a non-contact IR thermometer is that once you read a base temperature you can set the device to give a visual representation of any temperature differences. The way it does that is by changing the color of a bright spot of light it projects on the surface you are measuring. That was important to me because I am in the energy conservation business and I can use it to show my customers where cold air is leaking in around doors or windows or where heat is escaping to the outside. The light will go from green to red or from green to blue depending on whether the temperature is going up or down. Nothing beats a visual indication of what is going on and this gives you that. The light registers when you first read a base temperature then when it changes it goes to blue for colder or red for warmer in 1-5-10 degree increments depending on where it is set. Personally I am no fan of Black and Decker products. I avoid them as being cheap foreign made and low quality. However, this thing works for me and I have had it for two years without any problem.

Answer:	We recommend not to exceed 50 ft of sensors. Each sensor is 9 feet in length so you can have a total of 5 sensors attached together for this unit.

Answer:	Sounds like your protecting against toilet leaks or overflow while you are gone for extended periods. If you have a shutoff valve at your toilet, you could probably remove that valve and adapt the pipe or tube supplying the toilet to work with the LeakSmart valve (compression-to-threaded pipe or threaded pipe-to-correct size of LeakSmart valve). You'd have to deal with the wires and ensure power. (As an alternative, since many shutoff valves have plastic stems that can break from using them often or when they freeze up from calcium build-up , I replaced our toilet shutoff with a metal stemmed 1/4 turn shutoff valve and just turn it off when gone for extended periods.)
Question:	Can battery be used as a prime power source
Answer:	yes you can use battery as your main source of power but if you do not check them or hear the low battery warning then your up the creek .water everywhere. do not see why you would want to do this.there has to be an outlet somewhere nearby.use an extension .by the way this is a great system .glad i found it .no more overfilled washing machine flooding my floor. and best of all it checks itself every 22 hours.smart.you can also make extra sensors with a peace of plastic and 2 small bolts and some thin wire.i made 3 extras and now my whole laundry room is protected.

Answer:	The wired unit will not close in a power loss event. The valve is gear driven , not a solenoid type valve that requires power for a normally open or closed position. Answer:	No. After a "Leak Alert", the valve will stay off until the alert is reset at the control module by pushing the Alert Reset Button. Question:	How long do the battery in the sensors last? If app is installed, will it notify for low battery
Answer:	The batteries in the ELS100 leak sensors are good for 3 - 5+ years. There is no notification of low battery. The system should be tested on a regular basis and batteries replaced as required. Question:	Why cant you put senser in washing machine pan
Answer:	If you are referring to a "Washing Machine Drain Pan" - I would recommend it. Older floors tend to "belly" and a dripping or leaking motor seal may run to the middle of the laundry room floor - same with a concrete basement floor - may to bellied to center of the basement and hopefully to a floor drain. My laundry room is on the main level of a ranch style home with a finished basement - I elected to put my washing machine into a drain pan and one large enough that goes all the way to the wall behind the washer so my hoses hang over the pan too. I only wish this company made a dishwasher automatic shutoff system.
Question:	Can you extend the length of the cord from the sensor to the shutoff? We need to put the water valves on the other side of a small wall
Answer:	I added 10 ft of low voltage (thermostat) wire and also added a 2nd sensor (Floor Water Sensor for Flood and Leak Detection (LS-2600) from Amazon) for the floor outside the drip-pan. I used "Waterproof Spade Connectors for the connection for both the extension wire and the extra water sensor ) Fotag Fotag 100 PCS Waterproof Heat Shrink Fully-Insulated Female Male Spade Terminals Electrical Wire Crimp Connectors Kit) also from Amazon - tested the system after making all connections and it works great. Wish I could add a couple of photos - you cannot tell it is not factory made - looks professional and now my mind is at ease when we travel to the lake on the weekends.

Answer:	Water will flow differently than air, but if you pressurize the house I could see how using the Smoke Pencil to trace air penetration around a window could be helpful to track a water leak. However, if the water leak is from a tiny crack you might not be able to see it.
Question:	Description says "non-toxic" but what is in the fog? I assume not titanium tetrachloride
Answer:	The fluid is mostly glycerine and a little water. These smoke pencils are like mini fog machines. Totally different from the acid puffers with tetracloride acid. You cant hardly buy the acid ones anymore.
Question:	Can the amount of smoke being generated be adjusted? Does the trigger have one setting, two, or is it continuously adjustable
Answer:	The trigger has two parts. The small part activates the heating element. The second larger part of the trigger controls the smoke. Feather the large trigger to do less smoke, and pull it fully and quickly for a full puff.
Question:	does this provide enough pressure to connect to a vacuum line to find a intake leak
Answer:	No, the vapor cant easily be injected inside the line. But you can use it to puff around outside the line to see the air leak from that side.

Answer:	Don't know the max size. I wear a 7 3/4 hat and this fit fine. There is a minimal amount of adjustment left.

Answer:	These type of hard hats is varies but it is fiberglass though. The color can be light to mid dark brown. They ship me with a light brown one. I was surprised it was very light, it was thin. Just be careful when buying from Warehouses. They say they will give you a new ratchet suspension but they never did. So be aware of that and if it happen they won't ship you a new one, they will ask you to reship it back and buy a new one, hopping you will receive the hard hat with the suspension but NO GUARENTEE. But to answer your question, yes it does look like that, but remember it varies on the seller because it come from a warehouse.

2.1 Warm up process: around 10s

The speaker will always have “di didi…” until we turn off device, except one moment in step 2.2. At warm up period, ticking noise frequency is slow: around 2~3 times/s.

The knob is used to adjust sensitivity of detector after finish 10s warm up process, during the process, no matter how to adjust the knob, the device won't have any reactions.

2.2 Rotate the knob to adjust sensitivity

If the alarm sounds prematurely and LED lights are on after warm up, need to decrease sensitivity to prevent false alarm (dial downward "-", shown as red arrow) .

Rotate the knob to adjust sensitivity until the first bottom LED turn off or at the threshold of lighting up, and the moment that ticking sound stops. This is the best status.

But if it's inconvenient to get the best status, we can just make the first bottom LED be on and have slow ticking "di di...." sound. Because once encounter leakage, all the rest 4~5 LED will be triggered on together at just one moment.

2.3 Ready to sniff or trace leakage

Move the probe along pipeline or around the suspected leakage points, such as fittings, connectors and switches, once encounter gas leakage, all 5~6 LED lights will be triggered immediately and the low frequency (2~3 times/s) ticking will change into piercing sounds (frequency 6~7 times/s, too fast and human ears cannot distinguish one time by one time) .

4.1 Could tell more related to use?

1) Easy to understand video will be good choice, refer to “How and where to use the Y201 gas leak detector” around pictures area at beginning . 2) Get service support, engineers on staff from factory online will help to answer any questions related to leakage if above video can't help to understand.

4.2 Why always has ticking sound?

The design of ticking sound has two purposes: 1) Indicates the device is working.For some cases, we need to extend the probe to the area that we can't see LED lights, customers could judge thru the sound changes. The green power LED light is also used to indicate the device is working. 2) Represent different levels of gas leakage. Low frequency (around 2~3 times/s) means warm-up period or no leakage, if changed into high frequency (around 6~7 times/s) during detection process, means encounter leakage issue.

Notes: above is based on we set sensitivity well, because if we rotate the knob at anti-clockside too much, even there don’t have any leakage, all the 6 LED will be triggered on and sound will become piecing high frequency.

4.3 Some batteries only use 10~15 minutes, then low battery indicator is on.

According to our experiment data at lab for different batteries brand, usually last from 15 minutes to 4 hours. Different brand batteries have very different quality. Indeed, the device is hungry for batteries. The sensor in the probe needs large power for micro burning process and we can feel a little warm if we use finger to hold the probe. Another reason maybe product itself, components (resistor, capacitor......) tolerance or damage on the PCB board may also lead to large power consumption, but the rate is very low.

Usually when we find customers from home inspection company, we will suggest purchasing rechargeable Li-batteries, because their technicians or plumbers use the device frequently and Li-batteries will help to save some batteries cost.

4.4 Is it normal or safe if get 1 red bar when move to high moisture room, around connectors or simply blow on probe?

Don't worry, it's normal, the large moisture change and CO affect the sensor performance, and may lead to false alarm by 1~2 LED red bars, but only last for 1~3s (very short time) if we move probe away. If we encounter leakage along the pipeline or connectors, all 5~6 LED bars will be triggered on at one moment, light and piercing sound alarm will last at least for 6~8s.

4.5 what's best distance between probe and pipeline/ranges/connectors.... during check process?

Recommend 1~10cm, if too far, concentration will become smaller as distance increase from leak point, and maybe not enough find and locate tiny leakage.

4.6 How about bubble method to check leakage compared with Y201?

Bubble is very good way and can be used to check all kinds of gas leakage while Y201 is mainly used for combustible gas. But for very tiny leakage and very strong leakage, bubble method maybe not good enough: 1) too tiny leak can't blow up bubble, too strong will blow the liquid away and can't have bubble, 2) some areas we can't extend to apply bubble liquid, 3) need good luck and skills to control the bubble liquid concentration if DIY bubble liquid, 4) in some case, liquid contact may lead to equipment or device damage.

The best way is: use both methods for double confirm if allowed, since bubble is more visible.

-To detect leaks while minimizing false alarms, turn the sensitivity dial upward toward (+) until the device begins to alarm away from any gas leak. Turn sensitivity dial downward (-) slightly until alarm stops and 1st LED just turns off. Now, any small increase of gas level (as from a leak!) will cause the alarm to sound.

-If alarm sounds prematurely, sensitivity needs to be decreased to prevent false alarms.

-Each leak varies in leak rate and background gas concentration, so adjust sensitivity level to find any leak.

-Allow device to warm up sensor for 10s until yellow “Warm Up” light turns off.

Answer:	I suspect it can. If you have wind conditions of course that would affect how much gas the detector would pick up but if it was close enough to the source it should work

Answer:	I looked at the instruction manual and the box and it doesn't say anything about being UL listed. It is built in China but I don't know if that has anything to do with what is or isn't UL listed. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Question:	What if i’d like to use more than 2 units? how can i add more, if i have multiple properties to manage
Answer:	StreamLabs finally put out an update to allow the app to add/monitor more than 2 devices up to a maximum of 5. However, they now charge $5.99 a month rent to utilize more than 2 monitors for life. You buy the device for $199 and then pay them rent each month to use it forever. (assuming you wish to add a 3rd, 4th or 5th unit to the account as in multiple properties to monitor). Sad as this is a great product and instead of urging customer to buy more, they penalize them and incentivize the customer to NOT buy additional units.
Question:	How small of a leak can it detect? Can it detect a dripping faucet
Answer:	The Monitor can detect flows as low as 0.25gpm on Copper-M, CPVC, and PEX pipes. The lowest it can detect on Copper-L is 0.5gpm. Typically a dripping faucet is too low of a flow rate for the Monitor to detect.

Answer:	Nope! I spoke to them couple of times about that,trying to convince them how important that is, Unfortunately no fruit was produced..
