Question:	How bright? Light up the living room or hall enough to walk safely
Answer:	When it's connected to the circuit and there is a power failure, it can detect the resistance of the transformer (usually a bucket on a pole or a big box in your back yard) If you were to unplug the lamp, turn off the light switch or even switch off the breaker, the transformer is no longer in the circuit.
Question:	When you plug this into a wall socket will it also block the other socket? In the photos it appears that it does so I'd like to confirm that. Thanks
