Answer:	It costs only $13 so it's made in China, if it was made in New York it would cost $130, if London $230 :)
Question:	Where is the on/off switch for this lantern
Answer:	Just disassembled mine to make the lens "frosty" instead of clear (keep from burning my retinas!). There's a microswitch on top of the battery compartment. A long spring connected to the LED array presses against the switch to turn it off--extending obviously releases the switch. The battery compartment cover can be installed in 4 positions (rotating 90 degrees between). If not in the correct one of the 4, the spring would never press the normally-closed switch (opening the circuit and turning off the light). If your doesn't turn off, I'd suspect wrong orientation of the cover plate or that the spring has fallen off. Either would be a pretty simple fix. Curiously, I also found the long center screw was installed upside down. The bottom end plastic is shaped to capture the nut. It made initially disassembly slightly more difficult (you'll need a 7mm socket or open-ended wrench).

A electrical fixture is constructed taking it's approved use in consideration. This emergency light has 4 plastic clips that are not designed to hold the vertical weight that could fall on someone's head. Using a wall-mounted fixture on a ceiling can also overheat the building's wires.

You do need a 110 volt AC junction box to connect the light's wires to your home electrical system. If you do not have a junction box with wire from your circuit breaker box, the cost of an electrician to do tis for you many not be worth that added expense.

Answer:	If you are looking at the same lights as I am (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZZNVKKV?ref_=pe_527950_33920290_dpLink ) it doesn't say it is rechargeable. It works as a regular night light normally and if the power goes off it will switch to AA batteries and keep the night lite on. The article says the batteries have a life of about 250 hours. Since it uses regular AA batteries they might need to be replaced probably once every year or so. I can tell you from experience that they are nice to have in case the power goes off at night.
