Home fire extinguishers are crucial safety devices designed for use in residential settings to combat small fires. They are an integral part of fire safety measures in homes, and here is some essential information about them:
Purpose: Home fire extinguishers are used to extinguish small fires before they can escalate into major emergencies. They are intended for use on fires caused by common household materials like wood, paper, textiles, flammable liquids, and electrical equipment.
Types: There are different types of fire extinguishers, each designed to combat specific types of fires. The most common types for home use include:
ABC Fire Extinguishers: Suitable for fires involving ordinary combustibles (Class A), flammable liquids (Class B), and electrical equipment (Class C).
Kitchen Fire Extinguishers: Designed for fires involving cooking oils and fats (Class K).
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) Fire Extinguishers: Effective for electrical fires (Class C) and can also be used for Class B fires.
Placement: It is important to strategically place fire extinguishers in your home where they are easily accessible and in areas where fires are more likely to occur, such as the kitchen, garage, and near bedrooms.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the reliability of your home fire extinguisher. This includes checking the pressure gauge, inspecting for visible damage, and following the manufacturer's guidelines for maintenance and recharging.
Usage: In case of a fire, remember to use the PASS method:
P: Pull the pin to unlock the extinguisher.
A: Aim the nozzle or hose at the base of the fire.
S: Squeeze the handle to release the extinguishing agent.
S: Sweep the nozzle or hose from side to side until the fire is completely out.
Size and Capacity: Home fire extinguishers come in various sizes and capacities. Choose one that suits your needs and is appropriate for the size of the areas you want to protect. Common sizes include 2.5-pound, 5-pound, and 10-pound extinguishers.
Training: It's advisable to familiarize yourself and your family members with the proper usage of fire extinguishers. Fire safety training can help you respond effectively in case of a fire emergency.
Replacement: Fire extinguishers have a limited lifespan, typically between 5 to 15 years, depending on the type. Be sure to replace them when they reach their expiration date.
In summary, home fire extinguishers are essential safety tools for homeowners to quickly respond to small fires and prevent them from spreading. They come in various types and sizes, require regular maintenance, and should be strategically placed in your home to ensure quick access in case of a fire emergency.

Alastair Sim is wonderfully droll as Scotland Yard's Inspector Cockrill, whose latest case has him stumped. A bomb, a hospital and a mailman are all parts of the puzzle he must put together in this jolly good mystery tale. Sally Gray, Trevor Howard and Leo Genn add deft support. 91 min.
"Facing Dangers" presents a simple system, based on the distinction between a "red light person" and a "green light person," for teaching children to cope with the key question of when and how much they can trust unfamiliar people. A red light person is a stranger who can be dangerous to you. A green light person is someone you can trust to help keep you safe and help you avoid red light people. Red light people can be found in red light places such as wooded areas, deserted playgrounds, or old buildings. "Facing Dangers" teaches about green light places where children can go for help and introduces other important safety rules. (For Home Use Only)

Take a 3D tour to learn the types of fire extinguishers you need to protect your home.
Multipurpose Protection for Your Family and Home This fire extinguisher contains a multipurpose agent that fights Class A, Class B, and Class C fires. Class A fires involve common combustibles, such as wood, paper, cloth, rubber, trash, and plastics. Class B fires involve flammable liquids, solvents, oil, gasoline, paints, lacquers, and other oil-based products. Class C fires involve energized electrical equipment, such as wiring, controls, motors, machinery, and appliances.
Recommended by Fire Experts for Proven Protection The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends at least one primary protection fire extinguisher for each level of the home. A primary protection fire extinguisher should have a fairly large capacity and must be UL Rated 2-A:10-B:C or higher. In addition to your primary protection, you should also have UL rated supplementary protection fire extinguishers for additional protection or specific hazards. You should not have to travel more than 40 feet to reach an extinguisher.
After ensuring you have enough primary protection fire extinguishers, place 1-A:10-B:C rated multipurpose fire extinguishers as needed for supplementary protection in bedrooms and living areas.
This supplementary protection fire extinguisher meets the recommendations and needs of:
The National Fire Protection Association: the NFPA 10 Standard for Fire Extinguishers
Underwriters Laboratories (UL): the independent testing lab for fire safety products
Professionals: for more than 90 years, industry leaders, the military, airlines, and firefighters have relied on Kidde fire extinguishers
The Right Solution for an Emergency Situation In an emergency situation, you need a proven technology: a UL-rated fire extinguisher with a handle, a visible pressure gauge, and enough size and capacity to put out a common fire. These features are what makes a fire extinguisher the tool of choice for true fire suppression. Many aerosol can fire products may not be as reliable for fire protection, because they have a short shelf life (only three years in many cases), they do not provide a gauge to verify readiness, and they aren't UL rated. If you are able to react to a small fire when it starts, chances are good that you can stop the fire with the right type of fire extinguisher. Always make sure your extinguisher is pressurized and close at hand for emergency use.
Built to Last and Easy to Use This Kidde Fire Extinguisher is durable and easy to use. The fire extinguisher is warranted for six years, and its metal pressure gauge helps ensure that the fire extinguisher is charged and ready for use. This extinguisher is durable and corrosion resistant, featuring a rust- and impact-resistant nylon handle and a light-but -durable aluminum cylinder. The sure-grip handle and operating lever make the extinguisher less likely to slip from wet or oily hands and easier to operate for people with arthritis or weakness of the fingers. A large bilingual nameplate on the extinguisher provides easy-to-read instructions for use during a fire.

Answer:
No, it has a higher rating - 3A:40BC
Question:
Do these things expire? Or can I buy one and keep for years
Answer:

User questions & answers
Question:
Do these have the u.s.c.g. marine type rating
Answer:
I double looped over the hook.
Question:
How many pds in each @ coming with bracet@ how long before expiredt
Answer:
The pegs are a good 1/2 inch around so you would be able to hook a key ring that is at least 1 inch around....
Question:
Are these rated for kitchen fires? i.e. grease fires, cooking fires
Answer:
Overall: 24" W x 6" D x 21" H; Mirror: 17" W x 11" H
Question:
Are there mounting wall rackets for all
Answer:
You are right that the pegs won't hold anything heavy. There is a drill hole in the panel that holds the peg. If you replace with hooks, the backing to the hook would have to be big enough to cover the peg-sized hole. I think it could be done, with the right hooks.

First Alert Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide Detector Alarm | Battery Operated, SCO5CN
The First Alert SCO5CN Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm features dual sensors to detect both smoke and carbon monoxide in a single device. A photoelectric sensor detects the smoke most often produced by smoldering fires, and minimizes false alarms from cooking smoke or shower steam. Additionally, the advanced electrochemical CO sensor detects carbon monoxide leaks from multiple sources, such as faulty fuel burning appliances, blocked chimneys, and generators running inside or too close to homes. A loud, 85 decibel siren alerts you to the threat; unique alarm sounds and indicator lights on its face distinguish a smoke warning from a carbon monoxide warning. This carbon monoxide and smoke detector is battery operated, so you don't need an electrician for installation. Requiring just two AA batteries and featuring an easy access battery compartment for quick changes, this smoke and carbon monoxide detector has a single button that allows you to silence a false alarm or test the unit.
Carbon monoxide (CO) is the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in America, yet many people don't know they are suffering from CO poisoning until its too late. Since symptoms of CO poisoning are like the flu, you might not even know you're in danger at first. That's why a carbon monoxide alarm is an excellent way to protect your family. It can detect the CO you can't see, smell or taste in the air.
The First Alert SCO5CN carbon monoxide and smoke alarm uses an electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor-the most accurate technology available. The alarm uses photoelectric smoke sensing technology which is environmentally friendlier and which reduces nuisance alarms, making it ideal for cooking areas. It is also great for sensing slow smoldering fires quickly. The permanent sensors last the lifetime of the alarm. The test/silence button both silences a non-threatening alarm or low battery warning and allows you to test the unit's functionality. A low battery signal alerts you to replace the battery and end-of-life alarm of three chirps alerts you to replace the unit. Two AA batteries are included. 5-year limited warranty. UL listed. Not available for sale in Massachusetts.--Bree Norlander

User questions & answers
Question:
pack is $30, 2 pack is $90. Why is a two pack so much? I thought the idea was to incentivize more product at a lower cost. This is halarious
Answer:
I no longer live in the apartment where I replaced the old smoke alarm, but you will love this one. It's so nice to flip the battery holder down and not have to remove the battery from the unit.
Question:
Advice on false alarms? Goes off every week or so. It's in our kitchen/living room, but goes off even when we are not cooking. Goes 1 min then stops
Answer:
No
Question:
I have these througout my house and rental unit. Installed them about 7 years ago and many malfunctioning. Any durability mprovments since 7 yrs ago
Answer:
The instructions that come with the unit duplicate what I have read from several Fire Department sources: you can place your unit on the ceiling, but AT LEAST 4 inches (10cm) from the wall. If you want to mount it on the wall, mount it MORE THAN 4 inches (10cm) BELOW the ceiling, but NO LOWER than12 inches (30cm) below the ceiling. It has to be high enough up the wall to "smell" the smoke, but that 4 x 4 inch (10cm x 10cm) area where the wall meets the ceiling can sometimes harbor a "dead zone" of still air where the smoke would NOT reach the detector quickly enough during a fire to warn you in time. Thus, do NOT mount your detectors too close to where the wall meets the ceiling.
Question:
How long do batteries last
Answer:
Ionization type. I actually looked at at manual to be certain.
