Question:	what is the shortest amount of time you can do a test with this device? a home inspection last only a few hours..will it have to be left over night
Answer:	Professional testers need to be used for a 48 hour test. For this home unit, it should run at least a week to be somewhat accurate. A month would be better. It will have a 20% deviation for a 48 hour test. 7 day test should be around 10% deviation and 2 months around 5%. Right now, mine has about a 30% deviation compared against professional 48 hour testers. I'm contacting support now for help. I've owned it for about 6 months.
Question:	Are we positive the readings are accurate? I have now tested the first floor of the house and am getting a reading of 7.5 pCi/l

Answer:	My answer has nothing to do with radon concentration in the tested environment, but incorrect terminology being used on this discussion thread. Resetting the radon sensing instrumentation means system initialization to factory calibration, as the unit is not user calibrate able. Calibration implied by this question is to a standard, and it must have been done with the prototype designs when tested against known radon concentrations in chambers...using perhaps master instrumentation. I think this device can give you values within some level of confidence like 95%...but the measure value of any unit like this is not to be taken with 100% confidence.

Answer:	Radon levels are constantly changing! There are many different factors contributing to radon levels, but essentially, changes in the air pressure inside and outside your home affect the radon levels of your home. Radon gas is a naturally-occurring radioactive gas found in the soil. As it is a gas, it is continually seeking a lower air pressure area; basically, moving from the soil to the air. Just like water always tries to find the easiest path downhill, radon tries to find the easiest path out of the soil and into the air. When water is running down a steep hill, it flows faster than on a gentle slope. Likewise, radon flows faster when there is a bigger difference in pressure between the high pressure soil and the low pressure air. This principle of pressure differences is the main driving force that causes radon to enter your home, and also causes radon levels to change.

Question:	Is this test kit and lab testing valid for a home in New Jersey
Answer:	Our product is certified in all states in the US where required, including New Jersey. Our NEHA (national) certification number is 101132AL, and our New Jersey MEB number is 90095. There is an additional $10 regulatory fee required for the analysis of all test kits performed in the state of New Jersey. This is the only state where a fee is required, and it is because New Jersey charges us a regulatory fee for each test kit analyzed in that state.
Question:	Is it better to test the basement or another floor
Answer:	We recommend testing in the lowest livable level of your house (usually the basement), but it could be a bit up to your preference! Here’s why we recommend the basement: 1. Radon sits a little heavier than the air, so the highest concentration of radon is usually found in the lowest level of the building. By testing in the basement area you are basically testing for the “worst case scenario” of your home’s radon levels. It’s very rare that a house with low radon levels in the basement has high radon levels in the above floors! 2. Radon naturally occurs in the soil, so by testing the lowest level you are also testing closer to the most likely entry point of radon gas. 3. Most real estate transactions require that the lowest livable level is tested. This includes a level that could be lived in or modified to live in, so even an unfinished basement. Radon levels are usually different between levels of your house. If you don’t spend a significant amount of time in your basement or just want to know your levels for personal knowledge, you could test an area of the house that you spend more time in!

If after 24 hrs you still have flashing you may not have any Radon levels high enough to calculate. Each time you move to another room you need to reset and you will see the monitor recalibrate and flashing lines again and you’ll repeat the same wait 24 hr. Hope that helps

In order for a radon monitor to be approved by the AARST you need take a high amount of radon "counts" per hour within a specific time-frame usually (48-72 hours) which are done for real estate transactions. The Wave does not meet these requirements, it is designed for very accurate long-term measurements to give you a broader understanding of what your radon exposure is over the period time and not just a snapshot. However Airthings does have a monitor that does meet these requirements, our Corentium Pro. Answer:	You can use the Wave in 2 ways: 1. With Bluetooth: all that is required is to download the Airthings app (iOS or Android) and the app will obtain the measurement data using Bluetooth 2. With an Airthings Hub: the Hub is connected to a power source and Ethernet. It will automatically connect to your Wave using SmartLink and keep your data always up to date so you don't have to use Bluetooth. The Wave can connect to Amazon Alexa, with or without the use of an Airthings Hub - however, the experience is enhanced with use of an Airthings Hub as the measurement data is constantly up to date. Answer:	The difference between the Wave 1st generation and Wave 2nd generation are that the Wave 1st generation provides measurements for radon, temperature, and humidity every hour. The Wave 1st generation is also not equipped with SmartLink which allows you to connected with the Airthings Hub to allow you to always be connected to your monitor. The Wave 2nd generation is much more similar to our Wave Plus under the hood with the firmware and is compatible with the Airthings Hub. Bluetooth connections normally require you to be within approx. 30 ft of the device, and then you can view your up to date data in the app. 2. Once the data has been synced via Bluetooth and you have internet connection, the data will be further pushed to the cloud, enabling you to see your data on the online dashboard. So if you have your Wave in the cabin, you can sync via Bluetooth on your phone, and use your phone's internet connection to push to the cloud if you like! This does not refer to your entire house square footage; just the level or floor of your home that you are testing! If you are wanting to find out the radon levels for different floors of your home, then you will need more than one test kit. Each area you want to test needs its own radon sampler.

Answer:	Not necessarily. The only way to know the radon level in any home, regardless of its age, foundation type, heating system, air tightness, or building materials, is to conduct a test. Elevated radon has been found in brand new homes and homes over 150 years old.
Question:	Should I test the basement or any other floor
Answer:	We recommend testing in the lowest livable level of your house (usually the basement), but with this test kit, you can test two locations at the same time (for example, a basement and a living room). Here’s why testing the basement is recommended: 1. Radon sits a little heavier than the air, so the highest concentration of radon is usually found in the lowest level of the building. By testing in the basement area you are basically testing for the “worst-case scenario” of your home’s radon levels. It’s very rare that a house with low radon levels in the basement has high radon levels in the above floors! 2. Radon naturally occurs in the soil, so by testing the lowest level you are also testing closer to the most likely entry point of radon gas. 3. Most real estate transactions require that the lowest livable level is tested. This includes a level that could be lived in or modified to live in, so even an unfinished basement. Answer:	Generally they cover a large room or good segment of a cellar. However most importantly follow the directions. Limit the air exchange flow, isolate the area and out side air, follow compliance and testing date, time of exposure and lab test. They are time sensitive which encludes the return mailing to lab time. Do not get creative or modify test kit instructions. The kits are sold or offered free, several options. If my mind serves me I think Febuary is the month some states mail them to home owners free or a minimal charge.

Answer:	I don't believe so. I used 1 in my 2500 square foot home. If the test comes back positive there are other resources available for you to get more in depth with testing.
