User questions & answers
Question: | Water connections :1/2” npt. is this smaller than standard 40gal water heater connectors or same size |
Answer: | No |
Question: | What is the function of the part 'Anti electric wall'? What doe it do? Is it install on the inlet or outlet of the heater |
Answer: | Requires two 40 amp breakers (80). Not 4 (160) you would only have room for this and an oven on 200 amp service. Also if you only have 100 amp service and don't want to upgrade to 200 amp, don't look at these. |
Question: | What does a red line mean when you first power this heater on |
Answer: | The RTEX-18 (240 Volt) requires (2) 40 amp breakers and 8 AWG wire. |
Question: | Do you have a remote? Wifi? Range if inferred? Can it be controlled by a mobile device |
Answer: | Hello- Sizing an electric tankless is very difficult. I always recommend that you call Rheem at 800-432-8373 to get a suggestion. I want to say this will only keep up with ONLY 1 source of hot water at any one given time. That being said, the RTEX-18 performance ( @240V )- 1.5GPM - 82degree rise 2.0GPM - 62degree rise 2.5GPM - 49degree rise 3.0GPM - 41degree rise So.... what it can keep up with all depends on: -the temp of water coming into the house -the flow rate of each faucet/shower head/washing machine/source of hot water -outlet temp desired I hope this helped :) Ben |

Test Data
Check the chart to figure out the flow rate suggested for your area and the corresponding outlet water temp to see if it meets your need. For example, if inlet water in your area is 67℉, you are able to get 1.6GPM hot water @ 121℉, if you set temp lower, you are able to get more than 1.6GPM, correspondingly.
Product Parameter
Determining specs and electrical infrastructure is important because without the correct infrastructure your unit may not fit onto your breaker panel. We would like to remind you of reading the user manual prior installation and using for the first time.

Minimize Wait Time for Hot Water
Waiting for hot water at a sink located far from a primary heating source can be frustrating. Only having access to cold water from a sink is just not useful, and plumbing a hot water line to every sink in a home or business requires time and money. To get hot water where it’s needed, when it’s needed, a better solution is to use the Tronic 3000 T from Bosch: a point-of-use electric mini-tank heater. This heater can supplement a primary water heating source, or be used under a single sink. In fact, the Bosch Tronic 3000 T can be used for three different applications: as a sole water heating source for a single sink, as a supplement to an existing heater located far from the sink, and as a buffer installed in-line with tankless water heaters that experience intermittent cold water, also known as 'cold water sandwiching'. No matter the configuration, there’s minimal stand-by loss from this premium mini-tank water heater.
Product description
This Smart Technology electric tankless water heater is configured as a "whole home" model for climates where incoming water temperature is 67°F and above. This model is well suited for heating up to 2-Gallon per minute, which is the equivalent of one shower head (with a 1.5 gpm flow) and one sink with a low inlet water temperature of 67°F and an output setting of 105°F. Digital Temperature Control allows you to set your temperature in increments of 1 Degree. This model can also be used in colder climates as a Point of Use for a sink or other low flow application. All tankless water heaters are sized based on flow rate and temperature rise, and there is a direct relationship between the two. So if used in a cold area requiring a high temperature rise, it will be more limited in the amount of fixtures (gallons per minute) it can heat at one time compared to a warmer climate. When sized properly this water heater will provide endless hot water and only consume the energy needed, giving the user complete control. Prior to purchase and installation please verify this model is the right size for the expected demand and electrical requirements. The ECO 11 requires a minimum 125 amp electrical panel for installation with 60 amp double pole breaker connected to set of #6 awg wire. Plumbing connections are 1/2" compression fitting with the option of 1/2" NPT adapter included. For additional assistance please feel free to contact our support center at 877-474-6473.
NOTE : 11Kw at 220 is equal to 13kw at 240. .Activation Flow : 0.3 GPM

User questions & answers
Question: | Ours has only been in service for less than a year - will not adjust temperature to anything above 85 Deg. F. What do you think is the problem ? kds |
Answer: | My only guess is that the rheostat (variable resistor) that the temperature adjustment knob is attached to may be faulty. If that isn't it then I don't know. Sorry. |
Question: | The warrenty says that this unit must be installed by a licensed electrician and plumber, for them to honor the "life time warrenty." why |
Answer: | Hello Bob, The reason is the same as why an innumerable number of gadgets around the world have that little "warranty void if removed" label. Because getting inside of one requires a certain level of training and expertise. Same with this unit. GadgetsGo is an authorized Ecosmart dealer. Kind regards,HenryGadgetsGo |
Question: | My house is wired 110V. What additional items do I need to purchase for the conversion |
Answer: | Just to expand slightly on prior answers, normally a residential service feed is 240 volts between the two incoming hot legs. There is also a neutral leg, which (hopefully) has zero potential with reference to ground. The voltage between either one of the hot legs and the neutral leg is 120 volts. The 120 volt circuits in your house are connected to one or the other of the two hot legs, and only one. An attempt is made to assign circuits to the two hot legs in a way that will roughly balance the load between them. The other side of a 120 volt circuit is connected to the neutral leg. There is additionally a safety ground run with the circuit, which also ties into the panel. Certain devices require more power (work product of current and voltage) than is practical to deliver using a 120 volt circuit. Common examples are your clothes dryer, and your electric stove. These devices are powered by both hot legs, with a difference in potential of 240 volts. This water heater is also such a device.STRONG BUT FRIENDLY WARNING: If you did not already know this, please don't make wiring this water heater your learning opportunity with electricity. Hire someone who knows how to do it right. Cutting corners, especially with higher currents and voltages, can lead to equipment damage, fire, and electrocution. Electricity is not magic, and you can certainly learn how to do many common wiring tasks safely on your own, but today is not the day to begin that journey. You need properly sized components, properly installed, and connected to an adequate service. Also, if you really, really foul up, you could conceivably wind up making that morning shower more energizing than you ever imagined, if you get what I mean. So newly aspiring electricians should go fix their grandmother's favorite table lamp instead. Once they have that working they can use it to to start reading books about electricity, residential wiring, and eventually, books about this stuff: http://amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_8?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=nec+code&sprefix=nec+code%2Caps%2C164 . Of course, you still have to know not to nick conductors when you strip them, and other trade craft like that ; ) . Like almost everything in life that is fun, electricity will hurt you. Sort of like all those people you dated for a while, and then wished later you had never met. |
Question: | what amp breaker is required |
Answer: | The National Electrical Code requires conductors and overcurrent protection to be sized at 100% of the manufacturer's branch circuit recommendation for tankless electric water heaters. A 60 amp breaker is the same price as a 40 or 50, it is the wire that costs more. #6 AWG wire is required for a 60 amp circuit. If you undersize the wire it could overheat and catch fire. Protect your family and follow the manufacturer's sizing for this, or any other, electrical device. Your family's lives are worth the extra money. |

3 Smart Steps for Endless Hot Water
Step 1: Determining your average inlet water temperature is important, this allows you to determine how well your unit will perform in your desired location. A lower inlet water temperature will require a higher kilowatt product.
Step 2: Next you will determine how many applications your unit can run simultaneously at your chosen location inlet water temperature. Tankless electric water heaters are sized for maximum simultaneous use, not maximum fixtures in your home.
Step 3: Determining specifications and electrical infrastructure is important because without the correct infrastructure your unit may not fit into your breaker panel.

Two showers emitting no more than 1.5 gpm each can be run simultaneously when incoming water temperature is above 70° F. Digital temperature control allows you to set your temperature in increments of 1°. All tankless water heaters are sized based on flow rate and temperature rise, and there is a direct relationship between the two. User questions & answers
Question: | How do know which size to buy? We will supply two bathrooms, dish washer, clothes washer. What size should I choose |
Answer: | I noted someone below stating they got the largest one and they can only run one water source at a time. My guess is they installed it wrong by not getting the electric hooked up right, or maybe the unit was just defective, or they live in Alaska. I went under size with an Eco 27 a few years ago because that’s all my electric panel could handle. We have zero issues in the summer. During winter months we can only run one shower at a time and have to slowly fill a tub (maybe 3/4 fill speed). To save as much money as I am on electric bill and have unlimited shower lengths (only 1 person at a time mid-Dec to mid-March) is totally worth it. On here today because I’m thinking of upping my panel size so was thinking of going with a larger one now. Regardless, CCRC’s experience with the largest unit not working is nothing like the experience I’ve had, and again I intentionally undersized mine for the house. The website has a clear chart to explain size you need based on number of water fixtures in your home and ground water temperature. |
Question: | Can this unit supply a 3,700 sq foot home with 3 1/2 baths |
Answer: | In the lower states it can, but in the northern states, multiple simultaneous users, it will be overloaded. If you can afford a 3,700 square foot home, then you can place a unit in each appropriate demand zone and be very glad you did. I love mine, live in KY, get great supply when the water is above 60 degrees, and then it slows the flow as the temperature drops. I have dishwasher, washing machine, garden tube, 2 showers, 3 sinks and 4 people. It is better than great in the summer, okay spring and fall, and we are conservative in the winter. |
Question: | What is the power consumption of this tank-less heater |
Answer: | The instantaneous power consumption while the hot water is running is quite high (up to 18kW or 27kW depending on which model you’re looking at on this page). However, when no hot water is being used, the power consumption is 0 (or a minuscule amount to run an LED light or something). The total power consumption over the course of several days or longer should be much lower than a tank heater but the short term power usage while the heater is making hot water will be much higher than a tank heater. It’s just that the unit sits idle most of the time while a tank heater will use power fairly frequently even when no hot water is needed as the water in the tank cools off over time and needs to be re-heater fairly constantly |
Question: | remote |
Answer: | This unit does not have the ability to have a remote temperature control. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many BTUs |
Answer: | The expansion tank for this heater is not required. Most people already have these installed in their homes but if not then it would be Ok without it as there is a pressure relief valve on top if something happened. GlobalTowne is an authorized Bosch distributor. |
Question: | What recirculation pump will work with this heater |
Answer: | A standard flow shower head is around 2.5 gallons per minute. A low flow head is around 1.5 gallons per minute. The recovery rate for a 90 degree temperature rise is 6.8 gallons per hour! So even the 7.5 gallon unit would only provide 4 minutes of shower time before the temp dropped off dramatically. (even at the low flow rate..) |
Question: | What is wi-fi ready means and what what will you use it for ? also what circ-logic capable means? do you need recirculation pipe for it |
Answer: | If your bathtub is bigger than your main heater tank, this unit isn't going to do much for you. It will add 2.5, 4, or 7 gallons to the capacity of your main tank, depending on which Bosch unit you buy. The 7 gallon unit requires a specially wired circuit. You will also get a little bit of lukewarm water that was in the line between your main heater and the Bosch unit. Unless your main tank is awfully small and your bathtub massive, the 4 gallon unit should work for you. Maybe a demand type thankless heater in your bathtub hot water feed would be a better choice, but be careful to size it properly for your desired flow rate and temperature rise. Also a tankless is likely to require special wiring. |
Question: | Does this unit come with a vent kit? Thanks |
Answer: | When the tap is opened, the hot water in the unit flows out. The colder water that was sitting upstream of the unit, enters the unit to be heated. If the tap remains open, the newly heated water flows out, being replaced eventually, (depending on the distance to the main water heater), with the water from the main water heater. You will probably set the unit temperature to equal the main water heater temperature, if you want to keep a constant temperature, but other scenarios are possible. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the flow rate be adjusted up from 0.5gpm to say 1gpm or 1.5gpm (understood that the output water will be corresponding less hotter)? thanks in adv |
Answer: | This is a 199,000 btu model, a 3/4" gas line is required to have sufficient gas supply. |
Question: | degree water going in what degree will be at the tap |
Answer: | rinnai recommends the GTK03 Grundfos kit for this unit |
Question: | are any of these tankless water heaters plug in |
Answer: | I think, you need buy a WiFi module, call Rennai and ask. Circ-logic did not work for me, I had to install re circulation pipe. Because of the high minimum flow requirements, this unit did not work with any regular re circulation pump, so wasted money buying a Watts pump. And paid double for the labor. Rennai told me that I should have bought their thankless heater with re-circulation built in. |
Question: | Would you recommend this model for a shower in a guest bathroom |
Answer: | IT CAME WITH ADAPTERS ON THE TOP. NO PIPING. |

User questions & answers
Question: | So where is the electrical cord on this water heater? I dont see any electrical connection on the picture showing |
Answer: | No. This is a simple self- regulating unit. If you want more flow, and more hot water, go to the next size up that this company makes. I put this unit in my parents kitchen, where it doesn't get as hot and cannot cause burns. I have the larger unit in my kitchen. It can get very hot before it balances out. |
Question: | What is amperage and how long does it normally take before it ships |
Answer: | Hello James. Great question. This unit heats water by 24°F at a flow rate of 1.0 GPM (and a proportionately lower temperature rise with a higher flow rate, and higher temp. rise with lower flow rate). All tankless water heaters operate on the same principle. Therefore, you should add 24°F to your incoming water temperature of 60°F. The answer is 84°F. This heater requires one 00 amp double pole breaker. Question: | What is included with this purchase |
Answer: | Hello. According to the NEC and building code, electric tankless water heaters 15 amps or above do not include a cord with plug. They must be hard wired to a junction box or breaker box. Feel free to ask us any other questions. GadgetsGo is one of the first Authorized Ecosmart Dealers, since 2009. Kind Regards, John M. GadgetsGo |
Question: | Is there a 220V unit of this model available |
Answer: | Probably not but can work if you live in a southern environment and can supply 10 gauge wiring (or whatever they specify) to it. I use mine on an outdoor shower to my pool area and works well, but you have to control the temperature by lowering the water flow thru to it. The first time I tried it, I had to actually remove the low flow stuff in the shower head because it was too hot but after I removed it its comes out a nice 100+ temperature straight out of the hot end. Note, if it is really cool in florida, this does not work real well because this particular model just doesn't have the wattage to heat up the water really well.I bought this primarily to heat my water at my kitchen sink and dishwasher and it does a fantastic job doing so as opposed to waiting a minute plus for water from the other side of my house to come. As a bonus, I also added an adaptor and run it out to a shower faucet for the pool and it works well for that also, but if you are in a cooler place than florida, I would encourage you to get something stronger because you will need to heat a lot more than 1/2 a gallon a minute or a gallon a minute flow rate that this really heats up. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the temperature output be adjusted to 105F |
Answer: | Sinks have aerators to slow down the water where a tub doesn't. It sounds like one possibility is that your exceeding the GPM for this heater. Next possibility, double check an measure your actually getting at least 240v at the heater, I had an issue where my unit was only getting 235v an it was causing a similar issue where only one of the two heating elements was activating. I had it set to 125F but it was coming out 100F. It was warm and without a meter I would of thought it was working correctly until I tried filling a tub. It couldn't even get the water warm. I pulled my wires out an restripped an cut an screwed them in an it fixed my problem, now its measuring around 245v. Make sure there is no copper showing after screwing down your input wires. Now filling the tub I noticed after about 10-15 seconds the water gets too hot to touch. I set it to 135F. |
Question: | Can I use the Rinnai V65EP in Denver, Co? Temperatures during the winter can get below zero |
Answer: | No tank, so, no overflow line required. It mounts on the wall. A pan is needed if required by building code in your city. |

Question: | We have a 500sq' apt. 1 kitchen sink, 1 lav sink and tub/shower. This tankless heats water to both sinks but nothing to the tub/sh. Help |
Answer: | It’s next to the side cover on the front of the picture shown. The circle next to the cover is the hole for the 3/8 fitting and wire to go through. |
Question: | Do these tankless water heaters require an overflow line to the outside of the home or a pan like is required on normal water heaters |
Answer: | I believe it draws nearly 1800 watts ( 15 amps at 120 volts). Mine took about 6 days to arrive at a rural location in Central Wisconsin. |
Question: | what are the wiring and power requirements |
Answer: | To be honest I would not buy it. It came dented like it fell off the. Truck.. No support from ups, amazon or manufacture . I had no choice but to install it. Holding my breath.... It's up to you..... it came bare bones.... |

User questions & answers
Question: | How is it that this is energy efficient if it constantly maintains a heating temperature that you can use on demand? Is there an off/on switch |
Answer: | Most rinnai tankless weather it is out door or indoor, have a control board to adjust temp and either on or off |
Question: | I connected the water in the water heater already. But the pressure didn’t pumt the water to the sink |
Answer: | It can definately be out doors in freezing temps, tho power failure arent good for it while in a freeze, tho keep in mind it will use alot more energy for frost protection, indoor units are safer amd more efficient in this case |
Question: | Can I connect the water intake on this unit from the hot water supply from my house water heater? The house heater is very far from kitchen sink |
Answer: | I bought model V65EN. It came with a wired digital controller. The installer did not run the wire into the house and mount the controller indoors. He simply set the controller at 120 degrees and left the controller inside the unit. If I want to change the temp, I have to take the cover of the unit. |
Question: | Will this work for an outdoor shower |
Answer: | Good place to check for info like this is Wikipedia. Here is what they say: Energy efficiencieseditMore tangible cost savings are defined when comparing the energy efficiencies of gas heaters with low NOx emissions with conventional flued types. Gas heaters with emission problems are flued and inherently lose substantial energies in the form of hot flue gases to the atmosphere. In addition, the choice of placement of flued heaters is greatly impaired due to flue installation restrictions. In contrast, dedicated low emission gas heaters do not require a flue system. Furthermore, with the introduction of oxygen depletion sensors and thermostatic controls, they do not place critical reliance on ventilation as previously was the case. These heaters can be positioned more conveniently and centralised to affect optimum warm air distribution. By definition unflued low NOx gas heaters are 100% efficient as all heat energy released from the flame is converted to useful heat.Hope this helps. June |

Hot water on call
Waiting for hot water at a sink located far from a primary heating source can be frustrating. Only having access to cold water from a sink is just not useful, and plumbing a hot water line to every sink in a home or business requires time and money. To get hot water where it’s needed, when it’s needed, a better solution is to use the BISELONG: a point-of-use electric mini-tank heater. This heater can supplement a primary water heating source, or be used under a single sink and double sink. In fact, the BISELONG can be used for three different applications: as a sole water heating source for a single sink, as a supplement to an existing heater located far from the sink, and as a buffer installed in-line with tankless water heaters that experience intermittent cold water, also known as 'cold water sandwiching'. No matter the configuration, there’s minimal stand-by loss from this premium mini-tank water heater.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is a pressure relief valve needed for the electric tankless water heater |
Answer: | Of course there is a switch |
Question: | is the tankless water heater electric suitable for a shower without hot water feeding in |
Answer: | Chances are there is a check valve and the lines are connected backwards if pressure is not making it to your sink. Make sure you connected the line into the heater on the right side where the blue cap was. The line out comes out the left where the red cap was on the heater. Do expect some reduction in pressure, but it should not be excessive. |
Question: | Will this unit work in a 15 gallon closed loop recirculating system that needs to stay at a constant 100 degrees +/-3 degrees |
Answer: | Yes you can connect this unit to the hot water supply line from your existing hot water heater and have hot water delivered to your kitchen sink. This unit will reheat the hot/warm water to the desired temperature. This should ensure you have continued hot water. |
Question: | will the electric water heater tankless work under low temp condition |
Answer: | If you take a Navy shower, as in turn on water rinse, off while washing self, turn water on to rinse. Would need to be a short shower overall but it could work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | i use vinegar but pump was damaged because of acid, that means every time i want to flush, i have to buy a new kit |
Answer: | Dear Valued Customer, Thank you very much for your trust in ECOTOUCH and we would like to clarify that you don't need press relief valve to work with the ECOTOUHC tankless water heater electric, because it could handle wide range water pressure. However, we would suggest flow rate of 0.6-1 GPM flow rate for desired outlet water temp from the tankless water heater. You need a tap or a water valve to do easy water flow rate control. If you get any other question, please feel free to contact our customer service mail:[email protected], we will do best to serve and help. Wish you pleasant shopping experience. Best regards Christina from ECOTOUCH |

Kelaro Tankless Water Heater Descaler Kit - Just add Vinegar
Like all appliances, tankless water heaters require regular maintenance for optimal performance and efficiency. With proper maintenance, they can last over twenty years.
This cleaning kit comes with everything you need to maintain your water heating system. It includes step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow and quickly connects to your tankless isolation valves using the supplied hoses. Just add your own vinegar.
Mineral Build-up is Bad
Heater elements attract minerals from water and quickly add layers of scale during normal use. The layers get caked on and decrease the surface area available to heat up water.
Avoid Cold Showers
Scale build-up causes water to heat slower and decreases the maximum temperature of water coming out of your heater.
Scale will keep adding layers until the system is no longer able to heat water going through your tankless water heater - meaning cold showers are in your future!
Save Cash
Tankless water heaters don't run efficiently with scale and require more energy (gas or electricity) to run. Extra energy costs add up month after month.
You could hire a plumber to do the maintenance, or save even more - and do it yourself.
Annual maintenance using a Kelaro Flush Kit keeps your system running efficiently and saves you energy. Even better, the kit can be reused year after year - just replace the cleaning agent.
