Question:	Is it necessary to connect an expansion tank to this heater (for safety purposes)? It states something to that effect in the user manual
Answer:	The expansion tank for this heater is not required. Most people already have these installed in their homes but if not then it would be Ok without it as there is a pressure relief valve on top if something happened. GlobalTowne is an authorized Bosch distributor.
Question:	would this be able to supply a shower
Answer:	A standard flow shower head is around 2.5 gallons per minute. A low flow head is around 1.5 gallons per minute. The recovery rate for a 90 degree temperature rise is 6.8 gallons per hour! So even the 7.5 gallon unit would only provide 4 minutes of shower time before the temp dropped off dramatically. (even at the low flow rate..)
Question:	Can be used "in-line with a large hot water source"? Would it help a large bathtub that runs out of hot water before it gets full from main tank
Answer:	If your bathtub is bigger than your main heater tank, this unit isn't going to do much for you. It will add 2.5, 4, or 7 gallons to the capacity of your main tank, depending on which Bosch unit you buy. The 7 gallon unit requires a specially wired circuit. You will also get a little bit of lukewarm water that was in the line between your main heater and the Bosch unit. Unless your main tank is awfully small and your bathtub massive, the 4 gallon unit should work for you. Maybe a demand type thankless heater in your bathtub hot water feed would be a better choice, but be careful to size it properly for your desired flow rate and temperature rise. Also a tankless is likely to require special wiring.
Question:	When this heater is connected to the hot water line, what happens with the cold water that was sitting in the pipes
Answer:	When the tap is opened, the hot water in the unit flows out. The colder water that was sitting upstream of the unit, enters the unit to be heated. If the tap remains open, the newly heated water flows out, being replaced eventually, (depending on the distance to the main water heater), with the water from the main water heater. You will probably set the unit temperature to equal the main water heater temperature, if you want to keep a constant temperature, but other scenarios are possible.

Make sure you connected the line into the heater on the right side where the blue cap was. The line out comes out the left where the red cap was on the heater. Do expect some reduction in pressure, but it should not be excessive.

Answer:	Yes, you are correct, one of the units I installed had the same issue with the red plastic fitting liner protruding, and it cannot be pushed in or removed. I solved the problem by filing the plastic down to just above the metal pipe. Make sure to keep it level and remove burrs. Another fix would be to use standard pipe fittings such as putting a street ell on the tank nipple then connecting your flex hose to that - use brass or stainless fittings and pipe dope.

Hold the little piece on the bottom while scrubbing the blades with the brush so the blades don't move from the brush.

Answer:	The manufacturer's instructions say it is only to be used outside, and that it is not designed for a permanent installation. Having said that, mine is installed inside an RV under a window. We crack the window when we want hot water and I am fairly confident we are not putting ourselves in danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. We run it for short periods - a little hot water for washing dishes or short showers. If the intended uses involved running it for longer periods I would want to place a proper vent over it that went outside. In any case, be sure you are mounting it with suitable clearances from anything flammable above and to the sides.

Question:	We have a 500sq' apt. 1 kitchen sink, 1 lav sink and tub/shower. This tankless heats water to both sinks but nothing to the tub/sh. Help
Answer:	Sinks have aerators to slow down the water where a tub doesn't. It sounds like one possibility is that your exceeding the GPM for this heater. Next possibility, double check an measure your actually getting at least 240v at the heater, I had an issue where my unit was only getting 235v an it was causing a similar issue where only one of the two heating elements was activating. I had it set to 125F but it was coming out 100F. It was warm and without a meter I would of thought it was working correctly until I tried filling a tub. It couldn't even get the water warm. I pulled my wires out an restripped an cut an screwed them in an it fixed my problem, now its measuring around 245v. Make sure there is no copper showing after screwing down your input wires. Now filling the tub I noticed after about 10-15 seconds the water gets too hot to touch. I set it to 135F.
