Question:	Is it necessary to connect an expansion tank to this heater (for safety purposes)? It states something to that effect in the user manual
Answer:	The expansion tank for this heater is not required. Most people already have these installed in their homes but if not then it would be Ok without it as there is a pressure relief valve on top if something happened. GlobalTowne is an authorized Bosch distributor.
Question:	would this be able to supply a shower
Answer:	A standard flow shower head is around 2.5 gallons per minute. A low flow head is around 1.5 gallons per minute. The recovery rate for a 90 degree temperature rise is 6.8 gallons per hour! So even the 7.5 gallon unit would only provide 4 minutes of shower time before the temp dropped off dramatically. (even at the low flow rate..)
Question:	Can be used "in-line with a large hot water source"? Would it help a large bathtub that runs out of hot water before it gets full from main tank
Answer:	If your bathtub is bigger than your main heater tank, this unit isn't going to do much for you. It will add 2.5, 4, or 7 gallons to the capacity of your main tank, depending on which Bosch unit you buy. The 7 gallon unit requires a specially wired circuit. You will also get a little bit of lukewarm water that was in the line between your main heater and the Bosch unit. Unless your main tank is awfully small and your bathtub massive, the 4 gallon unit should work for you. Maybe a demand type thankless heater in your bathtub hot water feed would be a better choice, but be careful to size it properly for your desired flow rate and temperature rise. Also a tankless is likely to require special wiring.
Question:	When this heater is connected to the hot water line, what happens with the cold water that was sitting in the pipes
Answer:	When the tap is opened, the hot water in the unit flows out. The colder water that was sitting upstream of the unit, enters the unit to be heated. If the tap remains open, the newly heated water flows out, being replaced eventually, (depending on the distance to the main water heater), with the water from the main water heater. You will probably set the unit temperature to equal the main water heater temperature, if you want to keep a constant temperature, but other scenarios are possible.

Question:	My house is wired 110V. What additional items do I need to purchase for the conversion
Answer:	Just to expand slightly on prior answers, normally a residential service feed is 240 volts between the two incoming hot legs. There is also a neutral leg, which (hopefully) has zero potential with reference to ground. The voltage between either one of the hot legs and the neutral leg is 120 volts. The 120 volt circuits in your house are connected to one or the other of the two hot legs, and only one. An attempt is made to assign circuits to the two hot legs in a way that will roughly balance the load between them. The other side of a 120 volt circuit is connected to the neutral leg. There is additionally a safety ground run with the circuit, which also ties into the panel. Certain devices require more power (work product of current and voltage) than is practical to deliver using a 120 volt circuit. Common examples are your clothes dryer, and your electric stove. These devices are powered by both hot legs, with a difference in potential of 240 volts. This water heater is also such a device.STRONG BUT FRIENDLY WARNING: If you did not already know this, please don't make wiring this water heater your learning opportunity with electricity. Answer:	The National Electrical Code requires conductors and overcurrent protection to be sized at 100% of the manufacturer's branch circuit recommendation for tankless electric water heaters. A 60 amp breaker is the same price as a 40 or 50, it is the wire that costs more. #6 AWG wire is required for a 60 amp circuit. If you undersize the wire it could overheat and catch fire. Protect your family and follow the manufacturer's sizing for this, or any other, electrical device. Your family's lives are worth the extra money. 

Answer:	Yes, you are correct, one of the units I installed had the same issue with the red plastic fitting liner protruding, and it cannot be pushed in or removed. I solved the problem by filing the plastic down to just above the metal pipe. Make sure to keep it level and remove burrs. Another fix would be to use standard pipe fittings such as putting a street ell on the tank nipple then connecting your flex hose to that - use brass or stainless fittings and pipe dope.
Question:	Has anyone used a t-valve to hook this to their toilet inlet line? I'd like to split the toilet line, install this, then attach my sprayer bidet
Answer:	Yes you can, but you know, you can buy a bidet with a water on demand heater built in it ! much better and you are not reheating 2.5 gals of water after each use. Check on Amazon or Wish for a bidet, it is not expensive .

Answer:	Yes and no, it depends on where you are robbing the power from ,if it is from a circuit with very little use like bath wall outlets only ( like I did ) I would say no ,but if its from a circuit with heavy use, I would say yes, also what are you going to use the hot water for ? in my case, I use mine at the wash basin only so it is not heating continuously. .

Question:	Electric panel is ~50 feet from where i want to install the tempra 29 trend. is this distance ok for #8 thhn wire
Answer:	The recommended wire is 8/2 and there is not a limit to distance written in the install directions. You need to check with your electrician. Make sure he is state license and insured. Answer:	There is no specific installation kit. However, we suggest using flexible braided hose connections that screw onto the hot and cold water for the first 18" or so. These connections are easy to remove to check a filter screen or if needed to work on the unit in general. The connections are 3/4" NPT. Answer:	Michele, yes, you DO need freeze protection! Without this feature, there is always water in the heat exchanger, and the low volume of water to high surface contact means this heater is more suceptable to damage than a tanked version which has a "cushion" of water to survive mild frosting, not deep freezes. thermoflow Elex 3.5 electric tankless water heater is a true Point of Use Model because it is specifically designed for over or under the sink, multiple applications and the temperature rise 45°F at 0.5GPM. At 72°F inlet temperature the Elex 3.5 can heat 0.72 gallon per minute to 120°F. It can also heat one hand sink emitting 0.5 gpm to 105°F with inlet temperature as low as 57°F. Its compact size allows for over or under the sink installations. The Point of Use models are ideal for: Wet Bars, Strip Malls, Doctor's Office, Bathroom Sinks.
