Answer:	It's just a big iron bowl, I'm sure you could. Drilling a hole large enough for a gas line through cast iron would require specialized tools like a carbide tipped hole saw. If you're leaving it outside you'll want to drill a hole in the bottom anyway to let water drain out.

Answer:	The bowl does not have drain holes as supplied. I drilled 5 small holes in mine to allow water drain. If it is exposed to rain mine would no doubt stain concrete. The bowl is untreated cast iron and even without drain holes it could drip rusty rain water on whatever surface it sits on.

Answer:	Whatever, the one I have is very dim and I can only view it by holding it. The thing says it has backlight, the manual says it, but it's not a feature. It also has a button "Signal" on the back that is not explained anywhere. It seems to work well enough, but it's impossible to read the screen in most places I have put it or hung it up.

Answer:	The manual suggests that the sensor can be out in the weather, as long as it isn't in the pouring rain. AcuRite sells a protective unit, here on Amazon, for a reasonable price to protect the sensor from full sun and rain and snow. Use Lithium batteries if you have it out in weather colder than 40 degrees (F). Right now it's 44 degrees on my patio in southern California.

Answer:	It has an oxygen sensor that shuts it off if it doesn't have enough makeup air. It burns 99.9 % clean meaning no CO or carbon monoxide. The smell could be from other fumes or products in the air that the stove burns, (like paint fumes). I have used one for over 30 years no problem. Only if I paint or have some other fumes in the do I get a different odor.
