Question:	Is this the unit that operates with a wall switch? I don't want the one that uses the switch in the drain plug
Answer:	Yes, it's hardwired from the disposal and plugs into receptacle under the sink which is wired to the wall switch to turn the unit on and off. The wiring and electrical connector do not come with the unit and have to be purchased separately.
Question:	After I installed the disposer, the sink does not drain unless I am actually running the disposer. Any ideas on what might be causing this
Answer:	I just replaced my 9 year old insinkerator 444 with an evolution compact and it drains with the same rapid velocity, without the disposer motor on, as the 444 using the same trap and dishwasher drain setup. InSinkErator makes great products and provides very good support for their products. Give them a call and request help.
Question:	As a DIY install, can the Evolution Compact 3/4hp unit replace an Insinkerator 1/3hp model w/o modifications
Answer:	I was able to replace my 1/2 HP Badger 5 disposal (which appears to be the same size as the 1/3 HP Badger 1) with this model without any problems. This biggest difference with the Evolution is it is noticeably wider (8 3/4") than the Badger models (6 5/16"), so the drain is going to be in a different spot and you *might* have to do some plumbing work if you can't adjust the drain. (I was able to adjust my drain pipe so it fit OK with the Evolution.)
Question:	While this product gets many 5* reviews - it's the those with the unit the longest that are giving 1*. Can someone who has had it awhile comment
Answer:	When you read the reviews, its immediately obvious that they did not buy the Evolution Compact 3/4 HP InSinkErator model that the ratings are linked to. This model comes with an In-Home 8 year warranty. Different models come with 1, 2 or 4 year warranty's, but this unit is 8 years...Simply read the attached warranty details and buyer beware.

Question:	Will this work with an air switch
Answer:	This particular unit comes with a cord with a plug. You plug it into a switched wall socket to operate. But you can buy a version that is meant to be hard-wired to a switch, and that can switch can be an air switch as much as it can be anything else. I think ANY disposal can be used with an air switch if wired properly.

Answer:	Hello, the power cord is 32 inches from the base of the unit to the base of the wall plug.

Question:	If no power cord is included, how do I plug in the disposal unit
Answer:	Hard wire so it works off of the switch beside your sink. I have never heard of an electrical outlet under the sink. So the power cord is throwing me! Our last disposal was hard wired like the one it replaced. So....I dont know why they are all coming with power cords now.

Answer:	This is simple to replace, no need to hire a plumber. The tool you need that will help the most is a car jack which comes with most car. Spend 5-10 minutes reading the installation manual along with studying the parts of the way your old disposer looks installed, take a couple of pictures before uninstalling. Remember how you uninstall it, and perform the steps in reverse and follow the installation manual. Remove the old wire which needs a little brute force, and install it to the new disposal unit. When ready to install the new disposal unit, place the car jack under the new disposal unit and jack it up close to the connection under the sink and use the included wrench to tighten the unit to the under sink connection until it clicks. I didn't replace the sink connector, but it shouldn't be hard to replace if you follow the instruction manual. Goodluck!
Question:	I have a badger 5 it is leaking water at bottom near reset bottom plus does a new one came with a ss ring for inside the sink
Answer:	We have the same problem. Our disposal is an In Sink Erator Badger 5 that was installed 10-4-05. We just discovered that it is leaking at the same place your unit is leaking. It came with a 2 year warranty, and is now almost 8 years old. I have not yet called a plumber. My best guess is that we will have to replace it, unless someone provides a better solution to the problem. For info - Our cost for the unit in 2005 was: Parts - $84; Labor - $105.50; total cost - $189.50

Answer:	Emerson Electric does make them, but you won't find them here on Amazon.com. I see one at http://www.220-electronics.com/insinkerator-evolution-100-garbage-disposal.html... It's a different model from the Evolution Excel, but it should be pretty good quality...

Answer:	You will need a switch to turn the unit off and on. InSinkErator makes a switch that attaches to the unit, or you can install a 110v wall switch.
Question:	Will it fit to existing mounting assembly of my old InSinkErator or do I need to replace it with the mounting assembly that comes with the new unit
Answer:	I replaced the mounting assembly even though I didn't need to. Either would have worked. I had a new sink with a very old disposal. I am barely qualified to change a light bulb and found the process easy. I used nothing but screwdrivers, pliers, and the wrench that came with the unit as the old plug, gaskets, clamps, and pipes hooked up to the new unit without a problem.
Question:	Would it make sense to attach one of these to a toilet or would soggy paper be likely to clog it up
Answer:	If you attach this to your toilet, be sure to tear the toilet paper up into small pieces to prevent the soggy paper from clogging it up. Warning: Do not deposit corn or nuts into this Erator. Make sure you remove any corn or nuts before turning on the Erator.

Answer:	Hi Ryan, the size of a disposer's electrical connector is 3/8".

Answer:	The disposal comes with all you need to install it with. It's just if you are replacing this one with another, you won't need all the parts.

Answer:	It's not hateful. Compare to my older model it's a little smoother and quitter.
Question:	Where is the on and off switch located at
Answer:	There is no on/off switch. The disposal is supposed to be wired to a "light switch" that turns it on and off. In my case, it's wired to a plug under the sink that is controlled by a light switch next to the sink.

Answer:	If you haven't installed it yet, measure the H of the disposal and then measure the depth of the sink cabinet. I suspect without taking measurements myself that the disposal installed in my sink is about 12"-14" from the collar where it connects to the sink drain opening. I have at least 12" between the bottom of the disposal and the cabinet deck.

Answer:	Yes it does
Question:	do i need to purchase the dishwasher connector
Answer:	We replaced our disposal so we had a dishwasher previously connected and did not need a dishwasher connector. So if you are just replacing your disposal you likely have what you need to connect the dishwasher. If putting in for the first time you might need a connector.
Question:	Can I use this with my own sink flange
Answer:	Probably yes, based on my own experience. We had an Emerson a long time ago (15 years) which went bad and I replaced with the 1/2 HP Badger. Did not have to change the flange. It was a real "in place drop-in". Last week, the Badger died (lasted about the 15 years I mention), and I bought this one as replacement. I did not replace the flange again. It was another "drop-in" although I had to install a wall outlet under the sink to plug it in. No problem with one of those blue boxes.
Question:	Will this fit the space where there's now a badger 5 1/2hp? i.e., is the 5xp 3/4hp any bigger
Answer:	It will fit, case seems the exact same.

Answer:	While I don't know the amperage draw for this unit exactly, most homes use 15 or even 10 amp breakers for outlets. If you are running a 20amp feed (proper wire and breaker) without a lot of other draws, you will be fine. Without me asking a lot of questions and covering a lot of variables, I will say that if your outlet is wired the same as it was when it was built, you will be more than covered.

Answer:	Its been awhile since i did the install but i believe it is 1.25 in or 1.5 in. hole.

Question:	Do you have to hold it down to run the disposal or is it push to start and push again to stop
Answer:	Push once to start, push again to stop. The button is a pneumatic switch--basically an air bellows--connecting to an electric switch via an air tube. This means there is no risk of water causing the push switch to short out.Because it is an pneumatic switch, it takes a quick, firm push to start, and the same to stop. You cannot slowly or gently push the button.

Answer:	First find the model number on your unit. Search online for Insinkerator model #xxx parts. If the model is not too old you will find it. I had to have mine made!
Question:	Our soon-to-be-installed sink's drain is not in the very center of the sink, but rather to the rear center. Anyone with similar setup? Will this fit
Answer:	I have a double sink but it should not be a problem if the drain is to the rear and centered. Measure the distance from the center of the drain to the wall and see if there is sufficient room to accommodate the disposal. it work. The size of the unit in relation to the center of the drain and the back wall will tell you if it will fit.
Question:	Can you leave cover on and still let smaller pieces of food wash down the drain
Answer:	Yes.....stopper can be in the drain with small pieces of food going down the drain...to activate the disposal you need the push the stopper down and turn it..

Question:	Would this work for a fish cleaning station
Answer:	This is a very powerful unit. It will work with fish very easily. What it doesn't like are beef bones, steak bones, etc. Not that it isn't capable but you will dull the blades. No bones!
Question:	Does this connect to water
Answer:	It is a typical disposal. It attaches to the kitchen sink drain. I am not aware of disposals that attach directly to a water supply. The usual operation is to turn the disposal on and run water out of the kitchen faucet directly down the drain, where it flows through the disposal. What I can tell you with certainty is that this is the best disposal I have ever had.
Question:	Will pro 1100xl model with 12.3 amp trip a 15 amp circuit if hardwired in because of startup surge
Answer:	I used mine for over a year with a 15 Amp circuit and it has never triped
Question:	Dose the sink extender come with the disposal? If it does, is it available in a polished nickel finished
Answer:	There is a sink extender with the unit but it is chrome. You would have to check with the manufacturer or seller to see if a different finish is available.

Answer:	I believe the only difference is the 3/4 size from the inlet to the bottom so the 1/2 is shorther and the 3/4 is a bit more rounder it will fit just fine.
