Answer:	Excellent suction. However, Makita, in their infinite wisdom, made the 1.5in/38mm nozzle a little smaller (37mm) than industry standard so as to not fit any other manufacturers' industry-standard 1.5in attachments. Makita also doesn't include a round brush nozzle, which is always super handy especially with portable shopvacs (nor do those geniuses even offer a "1.5in/38mm" brush nozzle attachment). It would've been a 5-star product otherwise.

Answer:	When the shell gets hard to turn, I have found that a strap wrench (like for removing an oil filter) works well. You can prevent hard opening by brushing out the threads with an old tooth brush each time you empty it. A little dry lube sprayed on the threads now and then (after it has been brushed clean use a dry lube so that it doesn't attract dirt and grit) will make opening easier

Answer:	Bosch batteries will not fit Makita tools, and vice versa. You can buy battery adapters to allow you to interchange batteries.

Answer:	The brushless version does have slightly stronger suction, the brushless version gets 53 CFM, the older brushed version gets 46 CFM (about a 15% increase). I find the brushless one to have a more tolerable sound pitch than the old one, though I wouldn’t necessarily call it quieter. Runtime seems similar, possibly a little longer on the brushless one on the highest setting. These specs are for the xlc04 and xlc05 models, the 03 is still a newer brushless version but is different than the old xlc02. The xlc04 and 05 have three speeds rather than just one, so you can also decrease the suction for longer runtime than the xlc02 model.

Answer:	unknown...however I can tell you it will wedge itself under things. It wedged itself under the rear suspension of our parked Lincoln Navigator and we had a heck of a time getting it out. It wedged just wrong, under an angled part and really got itself stuck.

Answer:	Doubtful. If the leaves were crushed and small pieces it would do OK. We use it in a horse barn. It will pick up 4-6 inch pieces of straw/hay, but if there is a lot on the floor, or the pieces are bigger, it won't pick it up. I love our Makita vacuums, as a matter of fact we own 2 of them, one for the horse barn and one for my wood shop.

Answer:	This machine is very noisy. If it were in my house I'd need to be somewhere else so that I didn't have to listen to it. We have only used it on carpet tiles in an office and it does seem to work although it does not like anything to be left on the floor such as rugs or cords. It has a very hard time getting around those. And it will take quite a while for it to really get every part of the floor done. We let it run for several hours and it still didn't get the whole office. It does pick up the basic dirt but nothing like a true vacuum cleaner. No where near worth $1300

Answer:	Sorry no it is not. However Makita did come out with an adapter back in 2012 to step their 36-volt batteries down to fit some 18-volt tools.

Answer:	It only accepts a Makita battery, it does not accept an extension cord. Nice vac, but I returned it because of the very small dust bag. With my 3 dogs it would be full in seconds. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I'm not sure about those particular batteries. My vacuum runs very well on 3.0 and 5.0 18 volt batteries.

Answer:	No. The suction goes directly into a paper or cloth filter (depending on which you have installed) which would be ruined by contact with liquid. The blower fan and probably some electronics is directly downstream of the filter and would be next in line to be destroyed by any liquids.
