Answer:	This will work on a 7 1/4 miter sawing on small moldings. When your work piece is placed in the fixture and the saw turned at a 45 degree angle the width and height of the molding you can cut is limited. So, the moldings you can cut is greatly reduced.

Question:	Is the current model that is shipping type 1 or type 20. If you look up the parts diagram the type 20 has a different slide mechanism part number
Answer:	I bought a new one today from a lumberyard and it is a Type 1. (says right on the sticker on the motor) Not sure if that means the slide mechanism is better or worse than the Type 20. I would assume it was made in 2014 because there is a "Dewalt use only" tag on the box which starts with 2014. Not sure if a "fresher" saw is a Type 20

Answer:	mmToolparts actually sells a kit (3 proprietary DeWalt parts + their wiring harness) for less than $70. They have videos on their website that show how to install the parts on DW716, DWS779, and DWS782 saws. You will need some additional tools (torx screw drivers or torx bits, wire strippers/cutter/crimper) and somewhat mechanically inclined. Just google "DWS779 xps light kit" and they should be the top result. This might be an easier option versus going to a DeWalt service center in the post pandemic world.

Answer:	It does not come with any laser for guidance. You may find my answer a bit crude, I've been using miter saws for many years and the best guiding system I found to work is my/your eyes. Having lasers or no lasers you still need to use your eyes to get the work piece spot on near the cutoff point. Hope this helps!

Answer:	You can add the LED light to this saw. Not a laser but a shadow light that show exactly where the saw blade will cut. I just did it last night. Parts can be had for about $70. This basically turns it into a model 780 which is much more expensive. Pretty simple to add.

Answer:	Smooth. It slides twice on two sets of bars. I have used their 10" saw for years. I bought this for trim work but it will cut 2x all day. I haven't used the 10" since I bought this one. You will love it.

Answer:	Yes you can. Use a 1/4” Masonite or plywood to bump out the fence to take care of the 1/4”. The smaller blade won’t cut all the way through if you don’t. Works fine for me. And yes it’s easier and cheaper to get the standard 7 1/4” blades than the special 7 1/2”s from Makita.

Answer:	I tried DW's 780 model last year on a small commercial job and it just sucked. Well, it didn't suck in one respect, namely dust collection, which was the worst I've seen on a modern tool. As bad, the dual sliding tubes had stiction built-in so you got a very jerky action when pulling the saw forward or pushing it back. The thing was terrible in a few other respects as well, and I returned it to the leading big box store under their branded credit card return policy. I have an older DW 12" miter saw that I've had since it was new about 13 years ago and it's only a little better. I'm going to try a Makita pretty soon and will seel the old, inaccurate, troublesome-since-new DW. I like their battery tools but I'm all done with their plug-in stuff.

Answer:	The anvil is marked from 5-12. The hammer is fine enough for a twelve-point set without interfering with adjacent teeth.
Question:	How tall of material will it cut? How smooth is the surface once cut
Answer:	I checked mine out and could not find any marking on either the box or the tool to indicate where it was manufactured. I examined the set closely and from the quality and finish I would speculate that it was made outside the USA. From a functional point the tool seems to be adequately designed and made to do the job it was meant to do, with the necessary precision. The set simply provides the "set" to each tooth by bending it ever so slightly off to the side with every other tooth going either left or right. the key is to make that offset angle uniform in both directions. It appears to do that as desired and is adjustable for the amount of "set". It is difficult to say how durable the tool is, which is the most important aspect of a quality tool. Fit and finish, I would give it a 7-8, I don't feel I have given it a sufficient workout to "guesstimate" durability. I did use it to refresh a well used saw's set and it functioned very well. For the amount of work I expect to accomplish in setting saw teeth and the price, I'm satisfied with the tool.

Answer:	Get something you know has a 90 deg angle and use the protracter toeasure the angle. Itll read 90 deg. If not...well its wrong or you didnt read the protrsctor properly.
