12 best skil wet saws

Skil wet saws are power tools used in construction and woodworking for cutting various materials, particularly tile, stone, and ceramic. They are designed to make precise cuts with ease when dealing with wet or water-cooled applications. Here are some key points about Skil wet saws and their relevance to circular saws, power tools, and tools for home improvement:

  1. Cutting Capability: Skil wet saws are specifically designed for cutting tile, stone, and other similar materials. They are not intended for cutting wood or other materials typically handled by circular saws.

  2. Wet Cutting: These saws use water as a coolant and lubricant during the cutting process. This helps reduce friction, keep the blade cool, and minimize dust, making them ideal for creating clean and accurate cuts in tiles and stones.

  3. Blade Type: Skil wet saws typically come with a diamond-coated blade, which is suitable for cutting hard materials like ceramics and natural stone. Diamond blades are known for their durability and precision.

  4. Accuracy: Wet saws are favored for their ability to make straight, clean, and chip-free cuts, making them a valuable tool for projects where precision matters, such as tile installation.

  5. Safety Features: Many Skil wet saws come with safety features like blade guards and splash guards to protect the user from water spray and debris. Proper eye and ear protection are still recommended when using these tools.

  6. Portability: Skil offers a range of wet saw models, including portable and tabletop versions, to suit different project needs. Some are designed for smaller DIY projects, while others are more heavy-duty and suitable for professional use.

  7. Maintenance: Regular maintenance is essential to keep the saw in good working condition. This includes cleaning the blade, changing the water regularly, and inspecting the tool for wear and tear.

  8. Accessories: Skil wet saws may come with additional accessories, such as miter guides and fence guides, to assist with making precise angled cuts.

In summary, Skil wet saws are specialized power tools designed for cutting tile and stone materials with precision and minimal mess, making them a valuable addition to any toolkit, especially for projects related to home improvement and tile installation. However, they are not suitable for general-purpose cutting tasks typically handled by circular saws or other power tools.

User questions & answers

Question: this saw comes w/a diamond blade. would it be good enough to cut little glass mosaic tiles or should I order a different diamond blade
Answer: The blade will cut through the glass tiles just fine, however, I would suggest purchasing a thinner more durable blade. I purchased a Ridgid 7" blade from Home Depot. The Ridgid blade make cleaner cuts and wastes less material because it is a thinner blade. Also, Skil just came out with a new updated model of this saw. I would suggest purchasing that saw instead because it has some much needed improvements. Here is some information on the new saw: https://www.skiltools.com/Tools/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?model=3550-01.
Question: What is the biggest size of tile this saw can be used for to do diagonal cuts
Answer: am sure you can cut even 24x24 in. tile. to cut straight get 1x1x 20--24 in, wood and clamp under the table as your guide to cut straight, hope this will help. skil power tools are great and cheaper than MK
Question: Would this be a good saw to cut rocks in half
Answer: Depends on the size of the rock. The material is not an issue -- I use it to cut agates and quartz up to a couple inches in size. The important thing is to go slow and make sure to keep the cut wet.
Question: Will this saw cut peanut brittle? We are currently struggling with the batch we just made and we need to find a good way to cut it
Answer: i'M SORRY, BUT NO THIS WILL NOT CUT THE BRITTLE. this saw was designed for tile, brick and old tootsie rolls only. the reason tht is, the hamsters in the the motor are allergic to peanuts and a few other foods. seeing as how we all love fluffy hamsters, they gave them work instead of turning them away( that and hamsters have a ton of kids!!). the saw you are looking for has gophers in the drive motor( 2 x's the power for those thick piece's of brittle), that have been thoroughly screened for any deadly allergies to tree nuts and dairy, not to mention sock puppets and shoe polish as well. i do suggest that if you are going to buy the gopher powered brittle slicer 3000xlr made by Skill'dG( skilled gophers), to make sure you are getting the real thing, and not a cheap australian clone. contact the gopher union work force development office and they will give you a list of all non gopher supported and wallaby knock offs and a wallet sized card for easy recognition of their branded products. They may ask for a donation, but it's well worth the $120 to join their non members club. You get free holes in your green, and much, much more. Good luck on your quest, and may the spork be with you.

User questions & answers

Question: Can it be used as a wet saw
Answer: yes
Question: Will this cut through a 4" slab
Answer: I'm not sure. I just used it the way it came with 16 gauge brads. I was just using it on 3/8" trim and had no problems with it. I'd have to find my owners manual and see if it even mentioned a depth setter. Hopefully someone else can respond with more specificity.
Question: Can this cut through patio concrete
Answer: I've never used it for framing, but, it did great with the brad guns and never had to wait for the tank to catch up. I believe it puts up 150 psi, but, I had it set at 90 psi and had no problems maintaining pressure. I was probably only putting in 5 brads per minute at the most, because I had to keep moving my ladder to get to the next set. I wish I could tell you more, but, that is all I have used it for besides airing up mower and car tires.
Question: How thick of a paver can this cut? I have travertine tiles for my pool deck that are about 1.25" thick
Answer: The nail gun is for 16 gauge nails (which are large finish nails) and they come up to 3 1/2" lengths. These nails are not the size normally used for fence work, if you were to use more nails at each point, then it should secure the panels and the nails won't show. The 16 gauge nails do work well for lots of projects though.

User questions & answers

Question: How is the second 45deg cut made on 1/4 round to make piece for the 90deg corner? It’s obvious how to make the 1st 45deg cut, not the seoncd
Answer: No, the DCCS620P1 does not include a case.
Question: How well does it handle rip cuts? (specifically for the last row of a floor where you may need to rip the entire length of a board
Answer: The 20V batteries come in Amp ratings. 2 Amps, 4 Amps, 5 Amps, 6 Amps. For more powerful tools like the Chainsaw, or Leaf Blower or Sawzall Recip Saw, you need 5 Amps and up. Therefore, while you could use any 20V battery, it would drain too fast and damage the battery. The reason the smaller 2 Amp batteries are useful is because they are lighter and you have less hand fatigue using smaller power tools like drill and impact driver. They do fine with 2 amp batteries.
Question: Is there a dust collection hookup? How much mess does it make
Answer: Works amazingly well. Cut a tree with about a 16" diameter into pieces. Great saw. Will never buy gas again. (Even after rebuilding carb and replacing feul lines and filter my gas saw gave me troubles)
Question: How well will this saw cut waterproof vinyl flooring? Is there a special blade I would need
Answer: The chain is pre sharpened. I also improved mine by using a 14" oregon bar and chain with a guage of 0.50 instead of the 0.43 guage. This saw is powerful enough to use a 14" bar and the 0.50 guage seems to cut much faster.

Question: what are the dimensions of the base....LxW

Question: What are the specs on the included sawblade (TPI and width)? How many saw blades does this come with
Answer: The blade that's included is 6 TPI. This saw accepts 1/8" to 3/8" blade widths, 59 1/2" and 59 1/4" length blades.
Question: Can this saw be bolted down to a table? To make less subject to "wobbling
Answer: Depends on why it wobbles. If it wobbles because it sets on an uneven surface, then yes bolting works. If wobble is from an oblong wheel, out of balance wheel, or something else along thode lines; then no, bolting it down won't help.
