Question:	Is this machine the same as the 735 w/o the extra blades and infeed and outfeed tables
Answer:	Yes it is the same as the standard 735. As to the ware on the blades - I've planed over 300bf in the 6 years that I've had this unit. I missed a label staple on the end of a board and now have a 1/32nd hairline strip that shows and I easily clean up with a scraper. I also purchased an extra set of HSS (high speed steel) knives and put the money out ($158 for the set) for carbide edged which I only use on the last phase of the construction. I've got an older 13" planer that I use strictly for rough plane jobs and paint and varnish removal when I recycle older woodwork.
Question:	How much thickness does this take, when used just for finishing? i have ok smooth oak in 13/16", would like it ++smooth but can't give more than
Answer:	You can take as little or as much off as you want. It is measurable down to about 1/64" but if there is any cupping or warping within the board that may vary a bit. I would recommend a random orbital sander going up to 320 grit to get a ++smooth surface

Answer:	Easy, about 10-15 minutes: 1) Remove four 5/32nds" headed screws to remove the top yellow cowling. 2) Remove 3 red thumbscrews to remove the black dust shroud - clean out any blocked wood chips. 3) Remove eight 5/32nds" headed screws on each of the three blades. 4) Flip the blades, or sharpen if they've already been flipped. 5) Reassemble in the reverse order. If using a power drill with a 5/32nd inch allen wrench head (e.g., https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VH7ZQGC or something similar), set the drill on medium torque and it will take about 10 minutes. (If you manually unscrew the screws using the T handled allen wrench it will take twice as long.) If careful (having heard of the others stories), it doesn't seem hard to to remove/replace the screws with enough torque to seat them properly, but not so hard that they get struck. I'm planing very hard madrone wood, and the blades have lasted about 150-200 lineal feet of wood that is about a foot wide before needing replacing. Use the #1 (slow) feed speed for hard woods - I didn't know about this until reading the manual...

Question:	Can this sander be hooked up to a vaccum using standard attachments
Answer:	Yes it can, I hook mine upto a Rigid Shop Vac. However, because of the size of a shop vac type hose I would suggest going into a smaller hose that you would attach to the larger shop vac hose. For your Information, this sander does have a connector to connect to a dust extraction hose instead of the included dust system. This sander does make a lot of dust so going into an external extraction system is a big help.

TO PROPERLY TRACK THE SANDING BELT

1. Plug in the sander.

2. Turn power switch ON, then immediately OFF, noting whether the belt tends to slide off its track, and to which side (front or back) of the sander.

3. If the sanding belt does not slide to either side, it is tracking properly.

4. Viewed from the switch end, if the sanding belt runs toward the disc side, slightly turn the tracking knob counterclockwise (up).

5. Viewed from the switch end, if the sanding belt runs away from the disc side, slightly turn the tracking knob clockwise (down).

6. Turn power switch ON, then immediately OFF again, again taking note of any belt movement.

7. Readjust tracking knob another 1/4 turn, necessary.

Answer:	Yes it can be, but you will likely have to attach it to a board first, then screw the board down. The bolt holes are positioned such that it's difficult to access them dirctly.
Question:	Is the 5 "disc sanding disc not hook and loop and has to be glued each time you change a sanding disc? This could be a deal breaker for sure
Answer:	Most disc sanders are glue on, you don’t want the play hook and loop gives. I guess it would depend on what your using it for.

Question:	where can I get more belts
Answer:	Pretty sure you can find replacement belts on Amazon. I have seen them there. I cannot recall the size of the belt offhand (1/2 x 18?) but that is what you would want to search for. The ones I saw were made by another manufacturer.
Question:	Would this help get tough to sand parts of my hardwood floors
Answer:	I was a professional carpenter, served a 4 year apprenticeship, have worked on residential, commercial and industrial projects, including hardwood floor refinishing. I retired from the trade in 1989 (it sure doesn't seem that long ago!). In short, this is a great sander, but it will not work for what you want. Go to a rental store and rent the appropriate equipment. Above all, have a top notch vacuum at your disposal.
Question:	Can the filer handle sanding a small plastic while a very small amount of continuous stream of water is pouring over the sample, for cooling
Answer:	Don't believe the unit is made for water cooling.. Water may be thrown into the motor. You might be better off looking for a different cooling agent. Air for example?

Answer:	NOPE. Probably Taiwan, Wilton Still has a few that are made in the US, but those are marked as so. See Willton 28831 (a 4" vise that +$700) and that says "Proudly Made in the USA" . Where this is a Bigger Vise at 25% the price, and doesn't mention USA anywhere........ Take a wild guess.
Question:	Is this unit the standard old style Jet creme colored or grey? Most other sites including the Jet website show it in a much better looking grey color
Answer:	The 4800R mounting base has mounting holes with 6.0” centers (left to right) and 6.5” centers (front to back). Of course you could mount the base “sideways” and rotate/lock the vise 90° which would flip-flop the centers (ie. 6.5” LtoR; 6.0” FtoB).

Answer:	Not sure if it has auto track or not. However, I have used it for about 100 hours without any problems. Once I center the new belt it stays there. In fact it is probably the best 4" belt sander I have used.Its heavy, well built, removes stock quickly, and runs like a champ. I use it to smooth rough sawn lumber that is too large to get through my planers.
Question:	Does this come with the attachment for mechanical dust extraction as shown in the photograph
Answer:	Yes, but I have never used this tiny bag. That would be for small jobs only. I have done my deck and now I am working on my dock. I directly hook it to the small size shop vacuum hose (through a piece of single diameter tube adopter I improvised), and dump the dust into a 5 gallon construction bucket, through a piece of low thread count scrap bed sheet, held in place by a bungee cord. It works just like a shop vacuum because the blower is so strong on the sander that you don't need the additional suction of a shop vacuum, or the weight of it to haul around. This is still hard work, but you can't get a better tool.

Question:	Has anyone used a 1 inch sanding belt with this machine
Answer:	On a scale of 1-10, I would put it's loudness at about a 4 or 5. It's not exactly 'quiet,' but I can play music on my shop speaker at a reasonable volume, and still be able to hear it while sanding/grinding.On a related note - this is an AMAZING sander! It's a little on the pricey side, but worth every penny. I've done precision work on it with everything from hardwood to bone/antler, to high-carbon steel (scale and all)
Question:	are you able to tilt the sanding assembly to be flat, or close to it
Answer:	Shop Fox is the manufacturer. It's made in China but I love mine. I use it for knife making and it is a great, cheap entry level 2x72 grinder. Bonus, you get a buffer at the same time. It's super easy to change the belts and the buffer wheels. You just need to get some good quality belts and some 6 inch wheels. The work rest is small so I modified mine and made it larger. It has plenty of power.

Question:	How loud is it
Answer:	Not as loud as belt sander. If I was doing a lot of sanding, I would wear hearing protection. It's about 60 to 70 dbs when sanding. The belt sander is about 70 to 80 when sanding. Prolonged use : ear plugs
Question:	Did i get a lemon ? The largest sanding sleeve slides when the machine starts, and so no pressure can be applied to it. What to do
Answer:	Could be the sleeve. I tighten mine down and it works fine. I'm very happy with the one I have. I would contact the manufacturer.
Question:	what's the actually sanding height possible with this sander
Answer:	If the sanding drum in installed flush with the rubber core, the "as-designed" safe sanding height ( distance from the table top to the bottom of the drum downstroke) is 3 3/4 inches. The stroke is 1/2 inch, so it will sand a total of 4 1/4 inches if utilizing the upstroke.
Question:	Anyone find a place to put the extra washers? It's driving me nuts having, seemingly, no where to put them
Answer:	All those neat little places that are designed to hold the accessories are designed by people that don't use the equipment. All the washers, sanding sleeves, mandrills for my machine are in a box not far from the sander. Anything stored as per design would end up covered in sawdust and would have to be removed every time a vacuum or air gun is used for clean up. Cigar box (or similar) is just fine.
