Answer:	Yes to the case and no led. However I do not miss the led because the body of the tool leaves ample space above the bottom plate that rests on the work piece. Also the blare is adjustable so you can adjust forward or back to expose the plate/ blade intersect. Overall a well designed tool!!

Answer:	Hi Steve, Mine has an open base and I love it. Why do I love it, because provides less material of the saw to rub on whatever your cutting, therefor less friction. I`m 81 years old as of 24 feb 16 and I am still working 70 to 80 hrs a week and I think I have used every wood working tool invented sinc 1940 and when I find a tool I like I like to bragg on it.
