Answer:	It was not be cost effective because you would need too many attachments. You’d have to modify the tool rest. It would turn it but you couldn’t hold the tool to turn it without modifications. There are lathes out there built for using with aluminum. Hope this helps

Question:	is there an adapter for the face plate for mounting live center chucks? I bought one but won't line up with holes
Answer:	I'm not sure if they make the adapter to mount on the face plat. I have a 2" diameter three jaw,self centering scroll type chuck that i bought from Amazon that ihave used that works great,but i think that the holes in the face plate is for mounting a backing block to the piece of wood stock to turn a bowl. It says in the manual that you glue the block to the wood your turning and use the holes to screw the block on to face plate. Hope this helped.
Question:	What size wood stock can it hold? How about something like 12'' long by 8" wide piece of wood
Answer:	The length it will hold will be dependant upon what chucks you have in the head and tail stock. The bulkier the chucks, the shorter the length it will handle. I'd say it will hold 12" lengths unless your chucks are sizable. I wouldn't try more than 4" width stock unless it was short. Although the lathe may hold the stock, it would be too much for the motor. The intended purpose of this lathe is to make small things like ink pens, Christmas ornaments, small toys like tops or yo-yo's and tool handles etc. If you want to mount 12" X 8" stock you should be looking at full sized lathes.
Question:	is there anyway to secure to a bench
Answer:	Yes. It has has three holes in the base that you can bolt it down with. I bolted mine down on a metal stand. It holds it down real solid. Mine is the Shop Fox W1704 also. It is well built. I really like mine. Hope this helps!

Answer:	The 30th anniversary G3 is a dedicated 1” 8tpi chuck, same as the spindle on my delta 46-460 lathe. It doesn’t not accept the normal Nova threaded inserts since it is a dedicated type rather than insert type. Should also work on the harbor freight lathes as well as any o ther with a 1” 8tpi spindle. It also have a grub screw for lathes with reverse

Answer:	I have a Jet 1221VS and it works just fine. Be sure to check the TPI of the lathe headstock. The TPI of your chuck should match. Also check the length of the headstock and the chuck are the same. Although these are not officially standard, they are frequently the same from one device to another. Long story short the... The Nova G3 works just fine on the Jet 1221VS.

Answer:	I can't comment on why shipping stainless steel is such a perceived issue to you, but even if the calipers are stainless steel, the springs are not. I would venture to guess that is the main reason they are oiled.
Question:	can you lock in the measurement with these
Answer:	That is what the nut on the screw is for. It doesn't really lock, if you were to rub the nut on something it could move, and it can spring inward it you push into a hole.

Answer:	I have no means to test chromium content of this metal, but by 2 factors, I would venture to say that they ARE stainless steel. 1. They have been in my shop thru summer rain and heat, it is now February the 1st and there are still no visible signs of rust which would certainly be present on carbon steel materials under these storage conditions. 2. By all appearances (visually) they are comparable to any other stainless steel items I have used throughout my 45 years of woodworking. I would admit that, also visually, they may have a lower chromium content in their alloy than a comparably sized more expensive set, but they do the job I purchased them for at price much less than is really needed for my processes. Certainly, a $500 set would be nice, but then I'd have to jack my prices up, or sell 10 times more product to compensate, when these work just fine.

Answer:	Slower is better than higher. Try not to use a wheel that is lower than 80 grit. 100 seems best. If you go up to high, you end up heating the tool too much.

Answer:	For scrapers and gouges, I use a belt sander. For skews and bedans I use a wet stone grinder. I use a polishing wheel with emery compound to hone all my blades between sharpenings.

Answer:	You can buy a conversion kit from Penn State. It comes with a new motor and electronics. Note that the lowest speed is 650 vs 500 RPM which is faster that recommended if you use Cole Jaws.

Answer:	This lathe has a variable speed controller, so the speeds may be changed using the simple rotating knob. To provide speed ranges to suit any situation, especially for the more experienced turner, there is a three step pulley. This arrangement allows the variable speed controller to adjust speeds from 60 to 900 rpm on the low step of the pulley, 110 -1800 rpm on the 2nd step (medium), and a high speed range of 220 -3600 rpm on the the 3rd step. The belt need only be changed if you want to move to a different range of speeds. This is a very simple process.

Question:	Can this be used in making wood turned pens
Answer:	It comes with the pieces to be able to perform all the functions that it displays, yes, however the size is on such a small scale that you are putting way more effort into trying to use this than you are getting out of it. This wasn't good for anything that I purchased it for, and isn't adaptable to larger scale pieces. Doesn't have a lot of power at all to perform any of the 'tasks' it boasts to accommodate.

Answer:	Don't buy from this company. The lathe they sent was very poorly made and we had an awful time returning it. Amazon had to get involved.

Answer:	Basically, you will need a 7mm MT2 mandrel and your tools. When you order your pen kits, make sure you get the bushings and drill bit. Depending on how you finish the pens, you may need a buffing system. For acrylics, get a set of micro pads, they really bring the shine out. I also use a "french polish" and shellac to put a lasting hard coat on the finished product. Good luck and enjoy the lathe.

Answer:	I don't know, but on the lathe I have, I had to purchase a longer screw to hold the steady rest on the rails.It worked well fro me. I haven't seen the Delta 46-460 lathe.Enjoy working on the your lathe, it will give you ours of fun.
Question:	What is the thread count
Answer:	I haven't really tried to see how big it can get, I think it could probably work for nearly ten inches, maybe more. I was surprised by how sturdy it is, and have been very pleased with it

Question:	Is the wheel system included with this
Answer:	No, the mobile wheel are $500 extra but Laguna had sales on their machinery several times a year. I would wait until they are 10% or more off. I am very pleased with the mobile base and have had to use it several times. I like that you can jack the lathe up with a foot pedal, move the lathe to your desired location, then let it rest on the foot pads that are provided with the lathe. The wheel accessory will add to the length of the base by approximately 2' if available space is to be considered. An accessory that I purchased with the lathe was the light of which I have yet to use.
Question:	I see where the 110 volt is less money than this 220 volt. How to buy a 110 volt add the reduced price

Answer:	My lathe was made in Taiwan. I think the best value for any lathe on the market. Noticed many top woodturners on YouTube use this lathe. I have the 220V model and love it.
Question:	Does this lathe have reversible turning
Answer:	Absolutely! Just be sure to get a chuck that is also capable of reverse turning.
