Answer:	If you are serious about making knives, I would get heavier and mote powerful.

Answer:	2 holes at the bottom for bolts to secure to a bench. Place Bench Grinder on workbench, use holes as a template and mark with pen the 2 positions for the bolts. Remove Grinder, drill holes and secure with bolts, washers and nuts. Ten minutes.

Answer:	The advantage to having a variable speed is two fold: The slower speed is generally used for sharpening and honing while the higher speed is for removing material faster and buffing/polishing with a polishing wheel or wire wheel. The slower speed creates less friction and therefore less heat while the higher speed (with a grinding wheel) creates more heat.

Answer:	I've used it several times for light grinding without it being mounted and it stayed in place very well. The grinding was for sharpening mower blades and some light shaping, nothing that required more than very light pressure on the grinder. With that being said, if it is not mounted, even with light grinding it can 'walk' around so it's important to keep an eye on it and make sure that it stays in a safe position.

Question:	I embarrassed I don’t know this, but how do you tighten the arbor bolts? It seems like one loosens the other and there’s no good way to tighten it
Answer:	Don't be embarrassed - one side of the unit has a thread that is the REVERSE of the other. From memory it is the left hand side as you face the unit and so to tighten it you turn the nut as if you were loosening it. The reason is so the spinning motion of the motor doesn't allow the wheel to come loose. Counterintuitive but it works - enjoy!

Answer:	The grinder is rated at 6.25 amps, 10 amps would work fine, breakers are rated in amps, not watts...light bulbs are rated in watts.

Answer:	This grinder is a consumer grade while model 578008 is industrial grade. This has small stamped steel wheel flanges while the 578008 has machined wheel flanges. 578008's wheels will always run truer. Published motor specs can be deceiving, this grinder motor is a consumer grade 120 volt motor, the 578008 is an industrial grade motor that is capable of running on either 120 or 220 volts. Run on 220, the motor starts easier and lasts longer. Dust collection equipment is easier to hook up on the 578008's single exhaust exit vs this ones dual oval exits and 578008 is OSHA compliant with an OSHA approved switch. Answer:	Mine is about 15 years old, so dimensions may have changed. The base is about 7 5/8 inches wide and the holes are about 6 1/2 inches apart and a little over 3/8 inch in diameter.

Answer:	No way in the world I would pay over $100 for this. Its probably a vendor just taking a chance at a high sales price when a cheaper vendor dropped out.
Question:	Where are the mounting holes located? Are there one per side or two
Answer:	The Rikon Slow Speed Grinder has one mounting hole on each side. The spacing is 6 1/4" center to center of the holes.
Question:	Sorry newbioe here - if the shaft is 2inchs long then i'm guessing a 1.5 inch cbn will fit (5/8 arbor) - correct
Answer:	Correct it will fit. I had to do some light sanding to remove some minor surface gunk and improve the fit on the arbor to get the cbn to fit. (600 grit on a board against the running motor’s arbor) Additionally I added the pair of matching domed washers to improve centering of the wheel.
