Toolhounds know the old saying regarding a tool that does only one job, but does it like nothing else can. Thats certainly the case with this demolition hammer from Bosch. It may not be versatile, but it absolutely does its job.
This model is a favorite because its so user-friendly, weighing in at under 23 pounds and about as many inches in length practically diminutive next to its competition. Its power, however, is not at all relative to its size, offering a range of impact energy from 4.4 to 18.4 ft./lbs. and up to 1,890 blows per minute, reducing tough concrete to dust.
Part of the beauty of this hammer is that it actually doesnt want you to do the work for it; we found that exerting force on it actually slows you down. Instead, firm, steady pressure got us the best results. We particularly like the design of this hammer; instead of the traditional linear approach, Bosch built it more like a pistol, and that may (or may not, were not rocket scientists) be part of why so little vibration is felt. The rear handle is generously padded, and the auxiliary handle rotates 360 degrees so you can set it exactly where you need it. Another check in the ergonomics column comes from the electronic feedback system and the soft start it provides, keeping torque to a minimum.
Bit changes are fast and easy with the SDS-max system. Just twist the bit and push it in until it locks into place automatically, and youre ready to work. The vario-lock is an ingenious feature that lets you position your spade or gouge at exactly the attitude you need. While in the vario-lock setting, you just rotate the locking sleeve to one of 12 positions at 30-degree increments, and an easy twist of the locking sleeve secures the bit in position.
The variable speed dial lets you choose from six speed settings, appropriate for chipping everything from plaster work up to concrete, and the circuitry will keep your set impact rate constant between no-load and load conditions.
Its an investment, to be sure, but this tool will pay you back in spades.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the difference in the Bosch 11321evs and 11264evs |
Answer: | Without actually using each of the others, your question can't be answered. What I can tell you is that my son uses this hammer 12 hours a day alongside other men doing the same job. The others are envious of this hammer because it's so much easier to use than other hammers and doesn't cause as much physical discomfort as others can. When it wears out, it will be replaced with the same hammer. I hope this helps. |

What Is Crystalline Silica?
Silica, often referred to as quartz, is a very common mineral. It is found in many materials common on construction sites, including soil, sand, concrete, masonry, rock, granite, and landscaping materials. The dust created by cutting, grinding, drilling or otherwise disturbing these materials can contain crystalline silica particles. These dust particles are very small and invisible to the naked eye. When inhaled, even in very small amounts, silica dust can cause serious health hazards. Each exposure to silica adds to the lung damage.
What Is Silicosis?
Silicosis is a disabling, irreversible, and sometimes fatal lung disease. When a worker inhales crystalline silica, the lungs react by developing hard nodules and scarring around the trapped silica particles. If the nodules become too large, breathing becomes difficult and death can result. There is no cure for this disease, but it is 100% preventable.
Get Compliant
Whether you are concerned about the health of your employees, your health, compliance or increasing productivity, Bosch has developed PRO+GUARD protection systems. In order to move toward compliancy and protection, it is critical that every component in the system is designed to effectively remove dust. Bosch dust collection systems can reduce airborne dust, helping to create a safer and healthier working environment.
Protect Yourself & Others
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a final rule to curb lung cancer, silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney disease in Americaʼs workers by limiting their exposure to respirable crystalline silica. While using power tools with a dust attachment/ accessory and dust extractors with the right filter, exposure to silica can be drastically reduced. The new standard went into effect on June 23, 2016, and employers are required to comply with all obligations of the standard by June 23, 2017.

User questions & answers
Question: | No torque rating? Does anyone know the torque rating or max hole saw size in wood and steel |
Answer: | I don't know that I would use it for wood, though I guess you could. It can be set to drill, to jack hammer, or to drill and jackhammer combined. Also, don't know about torque, but I found it to be sufficient for all applications I've tried it in. It is surprisingly powerful and durable for a snall handheld unit. |
Question: | Does this have a 3rd setting to drill w/o hammer option so can core drill |
Answer: | It has 3 options: 1: drill without hammer, only spining, 2: drill with hammer, 3: hammer only for chisel. No spinning... |
Question: | Does this unit have the option of variable positions for chisel bit |
Answer: | Yes, it can lock in position either horizontally or vertically, as I have used it in both positions. It may lock in other angles, but I have not tried it in angles other than parallel or perpendicular to the handle. I also will mention that this unit has performed admirably and I have absolutely no regrets with my purchase. I was able to remove old tile (put down in the 1950's with thick-set. I found it works best at lower speeds and sharp angles of attack. Take your time and you won't work up any sweat, letting the tool do the work. Hope this helps. |
Question: | How do you place the drill bit in the hammer drill, I have been working on this task for a few hours,it do not grip the bits at all |
Answer: | This drill does require the special SDS carbide drill bits that have three slots in the shank. I pull the nose piece back and press a little on the bit and it will slip into the drill. I then rotate the bit to ensure that it is locked into place. The slots in the SDS drill bits allows then to transfer the drills hammer action to the drill point. With this drill only bits that are marked SDS Plus will work. |

Flexible and Functional
The Bosch RH540M 1-9/16-Inch SDS-max Combination Hammer delivers 6.1 ft.-lbs. of impact energy, making it the hardest hitting and fastest drilling rotary hammer in its class. Delivering 38 percent more impact energy than previous generations and up to 20 percent more than other combo rotary hammers in its class, it has a no-load 170 to 340 rpm, while delivering 1,200 to 2,750 blows per minute. This tool easily handles block or tile and drills through tough materials but weighs just over 15 pounds and is only 19 inches in length.
SDS-max and Integral Clutch Bring Convenience
Bosch's SDS-max allows for tool-free and one-handed bit changes, making the combo hammer even more versatile. The operator twists the bit and pushes it until it clicks into place and locks automatically, and it's good to go. The system also provides dust protection and a maximum impact energy transfer rate. The tool's integral clutch disengages the torque transmission if the bit gets into a bind situation, providing protection for the tool and less fatigue for the operator. Constant electronics provide soft start and maintain constant speed under load – this also protects against an overload situation.
Peak Effectiveness
The Bosch RH540M allows the user to get the most productivity from the tool with Vario-Lock Positioning. This mechanism rotates and locks the bit into 12 different positions to optimize the working angle, so the hammer is more effective reducing concrete to dust. A simple twist of the locking sleeve will secure the chisel. The auxiliary handle rotates 360 degrees so the operator can set it exactly where it will be the most operational to use. The auxiliary handle provides additional control and improved depth accuracy.
Adaptable and Effective
The Bosch RH540M Combination Hammer has a Combination Dual Mode Selector Knob allows the tool to be switched between rotary mode or hammer-only mode. This allows for controlled drilling and chiseling applications and precise hole placement. Service minder brushes on the tools also keep them running at maximum capacity, as the tools clearly indicate when preventive maintenance is required. Innovative service modules are designed to let a qualified service technician quickly replace the brushes and cord.

Question: | what is its weight |
Answer: | I have a MXG Pro and it is excellent. Love the rechargeable batteries. |
Question: | made in germanny or china |
Answer: | Sorry, but I have no idea. I sent it back because it did NOT come with it's own charging cord, and wouldn't charge using the cord I had on hand. It's an old school USB port that takes the charger. I honestly don't know what they're thinking, sending this out without a way to charge it! |
Question: | Heavy duty enough for ceramic floor tile removal (500SF)? Does it overheat forcing cool down rest periods? Chisel recommendation |
Answer: | Any usb mini cable will work |
Question: | Would this work for tearing down a concrete block chimney |
Answer: | Anything I've plugged this into had worked, from fire TV to Android box to Nvidia shield. Doesn't hurt to try. I use it on an android box and whenever I need to set up a device since it's small and portable. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many watts does it need to operate |
Answer: | More amps or watts usually bigger motor. Bigger motor means bigger hammer. Every tool has its place depends on the task at hand. I used the one I bought for a driveway and it hit good and hard. |
Question: | What kind of bits it used can it used sds bits |
Answer: | I purchased it in March 2015. I used it to dig a sump to install a sump pump, as well as dig a french drain, and several drainage ditches in clay soil. It gave out about a year or 2 later while breaking up a concrete pad an above-ground pool used to sit on. It was always oiled, and after disassembling it, I guess that a part was being worn down as it spun, but I dunno much about electric motors. It just looked worn down in parts, so that's what I think happened. All in all, the tool costs about as much as a day-and-a-half rental, which I got much more than that. So now, 3 years from the first purchase, I'm ordering it again. I expect to get plenty more than a day and a half out of it, but it won't last forever. I'm happy enough with it to do it again. |
Question: | Does it come with the rolling case |
Answer: | I weighed the components of this 2200 watt jack hammer on a shipping scale, and here is the breakdown:Main electric hammer unit by itself (without installed bit): 31 poundsChisel bit: 3 poundsBull bit: 3 poundsPlastic enclosure with the 3 included wrenches: 8 pounds |
Question: | Is Moil Point or Chisel included |
Answer: | No. Although these are 1-1/8 hex shank chisels they are the ones that have a smaller diameter cylindrical portion at the top where it goes into the tool. The "normal" 1-1/8 hex chisels are a continuous hexagon all the way. They're not interchangeable even though the sizes are the same. However, the included ones have held up quite well. Even so, they're relatively easy to find. Amazon carries compatible chisels as does the local harbor freight stores. |
