| Answer: | I got a previous rental from Home Depot, bolt and nut were heavily rusted, loose and barrel had huge play at the shaft. In first place this a flawed design, however I managed to restore the worn metal surface by welding and grinding at the very top, to make a snug fit , purchased 8 grade zinc plated 1/2"-13 3in. 1/2 long bolt and stop nut (with plastic collar). Then I cut 1/2 in. from the threaded end, put washers each side and torqued with 86 ft.lbf. This was enough to have no play at the shaft and no more bouncing barrel. |
