Makita is a well-known brand in the power tool industry, and they manufacture a range of air compressors suitable for various applications. Makita air compressors are designed to provide reliable and efficient compressed air for a variety of tasks, including inflating tires, operating pneumatic tools, and more. Here are some key features and considerations related to Makita air compressors:
Portable Air Compressors: Makita offers a selection of portable air compressors that are easy to transport and suitable for both jobsites and home use. These compact units come with handles or wheels for added mobility.
Power Source: Makita air compressors are available in both electric and gas-powered models. Electric models are typically used for indoor applications and require a power outlet, while gas-powered models offer greater versatility for outdoor use.
Tank Size: The tank size of Makita air compressors varies, allowing users to choose a model that suits their specific needs.Larger tanks can hold more compressed air and provide longer runtimes, making them ideal for tasks that require continuous operation.
CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute): Makita compressors are designed to deliver a specific CFM rating, which indicates the volume of air the compressor can produce in a minute. The CFM rating is an important factor to consider when selecting an air compressor, especially if you plan to use pneumatic tools.
Oil-Free vs. Oil-Lubricated: Makita offers both oil-free and oil-lubricated air compressors. Oil-free models require less maintenance and are suitable for tasks like inflating tires and powering nail guns, while oil-lubricated models may be preferred for heavy-duty applications where consistent lubrication is essential.
Noise Level: Makita pays attention to noise reduction in its air compressors, which can be important for user comfort, especially in indoor environments. Some models feature quieter operation through improved design and technology.
Safety Features: Makita air compressors typically include safety features such as thermal overload protection to prevent overheating and automatic shutoff when the desired pressure is reached.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it have enough air flow (CFM) to power a full-size framing nail gun |
Answer: | I nail off small shear wall jobs with it I would break out a bigger compressor if I was to do a whole house. |
Question: | Will it run two framing, roofing, or coil nailer |
Answer: | 2 Roofing nailers yes, I’m not sure about the coil nailers. |
Question: | Will this unit run a small paint spray gun |
Answer: | It's not so much running a spray gun, but the size of the object you're painting. It has enough power to paint small objects just fine. It will have problems keeping up with objects larger than a door. It's not the small tank size that limits it. It's the low 2.6 CFM rating. |
Question: | On the mac 320Q is it possible to bolt on a couple of wheels |
Answer: | It would ne better if you made a cart for it. |

Question: | would a 2000w inverter pull this |
Answer: | No, just the pencil. Best set I’ve had. Awesome product |
Question: | Can I use it for a pressure tank |
Answer: | according to the box they are made in China |
Question: | Is this good for car tires |
Answer: | Yes, they are both graphite. The "drawing" pencils are going to be on the harder end of the scale (h-9h) whereas the "sketching" pencils are going to be softer (b-9b). |
Question: | Does this compressor use generic hose couplings or proprietary Makita couplings |
Answer: | This is the most unbelievable value of drawing pencils I’ve ever bought. I got two sets one for my art studio and one in the house. I also bought a set for my grandson. The softer leads Blend beautifully. In the past, I have paid as much is eight dollars for one pencil. |

User questions & answers
Question: | where is the bleeder valve? I want to help him get this thing right....it keeps shutting off at 120 psi |
Answer: | the bleeder is between the pump and engine right in the top front. I can see it in the picture. |
Question: | I know someone who says the honda motor stops when the tanks hit 120 psi. why would the motor stop rather than idle |
Answer: | It does idle, not stop . We've owned Rol Air, John Deere and now this Makita Big Bore (which is fantastic, heavy but great). All having the Honda motor and they all operate essentially the same. Once you hit set psi, a bleeder valve or bypass valve kicks in to discontinue air input until it draws down to point where the valve then allows air input to refill the tank but the motor never turns off. |
Question: | Is this product easy to use |
Answer: | Yea |
Question: | Big enough for impact wrenches |
Answer: | It will run 4 nail guns. It should keep up with an impact. |

User questions & answers
Question: | impact |
Answer: | Question or statement? I would say it would make a pretty big impact due to its heavy mass if you dropped it. If your referring to an impact wrench Yes it does work for it for a short amount of time, 8-10 seconds. I can usually get a wheel off right before it kicks in. I've removed strut towers and seized axle bolts with this too, you just have to hit it a few times. |
Question: | can you use it with a framing nailer |
Answer: | I've used it to frame a 12x24 workshop and it performed perfectly. I generally keep it at around 100 psi, but it can be raised to 150 psi for tools that require the higher pressure. I have had no trouble at all with intermittent (trigger-operated) tools of any sort. |
Question: | Will this work with a LVLP sprayer |
Answer: | I don't see why it would not work. The tank is only 2.6gal so keep that in mind. It delivers 3.8 cfm @ 40psi and 3.3 cfm @ 90psi. I have to believe your application fits somewhere in the middle of these. |
Question: | What is its noise decibel number |
Answer: | I don't know the actual number, but I will say it's the quietest compressor I've ever heard. I use mine in the garage with all the doors closed and can still have a normal conversation or listen to the shop radio. That, honestly, was the main reason I bought it. I had a Craftsman that could shake the dishes off their shelves in the kitchen when running and it would walk across the shop floor to where it could almost unplug itself. The Makita stays put. Most of my shop tools are Makita and I have never been disappointed. My cordless drill/screw gun I bought in 1986 and it still works every day. I think you will be very happy with this compressor. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i use it for a nailer |
Answer: | Framing, roofing? No. Little trim nailer, brad nailer, just one at a time with that 1/2 cfm rating it has. |
Question: | batterys required |
Answer: | This is an electric compressor which works exceptionally well , NO Batteries are required |
Question: | Oil lubricated? We should not need to ask this |
Answer: | No is don't need oil This compressor not reliable it will break vary fast My first one breaks after year, I bought another one and it brakes after one month I bought it because it's quiet and lightweight but if it's breaks it's no use for it |
Question: | What's the cfm |
Answer: | Depending on your altitude at best it's about .50 CFM. This is is a very light duty compressor. http://www.makita.ca/data/upload/owners_manuals/AC001%20-%20EN_owner_English.pdf We happen to be at 5280 PLUS so it is only used in light repair work for quick in and out of a job.But also very light weight and fairly quiet. Which is why we also have the MAC700 and the AC310. You can not try and make the wrong tool do a job right |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does Makita have an 18V inflator |
Answer: | Yes, There is an 18-volt version out now. Search the model number on Amazon: DMP180ZX |
Question: | Is it possible to use an 18 volt converter adapter so I can use my existing Makita battery packs? I'm not interested in buying 12 volt packs |
Answer: | Regular 18volt charger and battery will not work with this 12volt system. I am not sure if an 18 volt converter adapter will work. |
Question: | Is there an 18v version of this |
Answer: | I'm in the same boat and have been waiting for over a year. Makita have had an 18v vacuum pump for many years but still no 18v compressor? There are actually a few things I'd like they don't make, so will be buying then in the Ryobi range and an 18v battery adapter or two to use my Makita batteries in them. |
Question: | Why is this 12v? All my Makita batteries are 18v |
Answer: | Makita DMP180ZX is out now. Not a lot of stores carry it yet. |
