12 best bench grinder stands
A bench grinder stand is a specialized accessory designed to provide a stable and ergonomic platform for mounting and using a bench grinder. These stands are particularly useful in workshops or workspaces where a bench grinder needs to be used regularly. Here are some key points about bench grinder stands:
Stability: One of the primary purposes of a bench grinder stand is to provide a stable and vibration-resistant base for the bench grinder. This stability is essential for achieving accurate and safe grinding and sharpening results.
Ergonomics: A well-designed stand can raise the bench grinder to a comfortable working height, reducing strain on the user's back and arms. This ergonomic advantage enhances safety and precision during grinding tasks.
Mobility: Some bench grinder stands come with wheels or casters, making it easy to move the grinder to different locations in the workshop. This mobility can be helpful when working on various projects or when space is limited.
Adjustability: Many stands offer adjustable features, such as height adjustment and swivel mounts, allowing users to customize the grinder's position for different tasks and angles.
Durability: Bench grinder stands are typically constructed from sturdy materials like steel or cast iron to withstand the weight and vibrations generated by the grinder.
Tool Trays: Some stands include built-in tool trays or storage shelves where users can keep essential accessories, grinding wheels, or tools within easy reach.
Compatibility: It's important to ensure that the stand is compatible with the specific bench grinder model you plan to use. Different grinders have varying sizes and mounting hole patterns.
Assembly: Bench grinder stands often require assembly, and they may come with the necessary hardware and instructions for setup.
Safety: Using a stand can enhance safety by reducing the risk of the grinder tipping over or vibrating excessively during operation.
Cost: The cost of bench grinder stands can vary depending on their features, build quality, and brand. It's advisable to choose a stand that matches your budget while meeting your stability and mobility requirements.
Bench grinder stands are valuable additions to workshops and garages, especially for users who frequently work with bench grinders. They offer a convenient and safe way to use these power tools while optimizing the workspace. When selecting a stand, consider the size and weight capacity of your grinder, as well as the specific tasks you plan to perform, to ensure a suitable match for your needs.

Question: | What are the pipe specs, id and od |

Question: | Anyone get the Wen 4276 grinder to go with this? How's that working out |
Answer: | I did and it is plenty of power to tare through metal and for knife/EDC Multi Tool making. I was very pleasantly surprised and extremely pleased with the Value I got out of the WEN 4276. for ~$45 can't get any better. |
Question: | How sturdy is it? I am not able to bolt it to my floor |
Answer: | If you're not able to bolt it to the floor, try this... Take a pair of 3' or 4' x3/4" pressure treated plywood squares. Glue them together with a good adhesive and drive a bunch of deck screws in to make sure they are solid. Then trace cut the plywood into a 3' diameter circle and bolt the stand in the center. Now you can lean the grinder stand on edge and roll it to a new location. You could add leveling or rubber feet also. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How y’all is it |
Answer: | Strong durable and easy to assemble, works great |
Question: | Will a benchtop drill press fit this stand |
Answer: | I put a good size vise on my bench grinder stand and Im pretty sure a drill press would fit, if not you could bolt down a bigger base and then attach your drill press. |
Question: | Will this stand work, For mounting a Reloading Press on to it etc |
Answer: | It might. As long as you understand that is not at all what it was intended for. I like mine but I use it for wheel grinding machine as intended. |
Question: | Would a table top band saw fit on it |
Answer: | I would say yes, but it depends upon the size of the bandsaw base. It might be a good idea to make a base of 3/4" plywood large enough to be useable for shelf area and then attack your bandsaw to the plywood. I have done this ON a few of my machines and it works out well. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this stand wobble at all? It's adjustable, but looks like it might be wobbly |
Answer: | I have 2 of these, and neither wobble at all. One has a bench grinder on it; the other a large buffer. The secret is proper assembly - look for my review post for tips on that. |
Question: | I have a 6" 30 pound Irwin vise that I want to make portable so I can use it anywhere. Will this work for that? Thanks |
Answer: | I have no idea, but let me give you the arrangement of holes in the top so you can see if your vise holes line up. There are 6 holes in the top. Two are in the middle on each side, 7 3/4" apart. The other four are closer to the corners (my vise requires 4 bolts).... they are 7 3/4" apart length wise, & 3 3/4" apart front to back. I measured center to center. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Would it handle a bench drill |
Answer: | I don't believe it would. The platform isn't big enough for a bench top drill press and if it did it would be top heavy and unstable. |
Question: | Can you mount a 45 lb 5" bench vise to this stand that will be used to hold things no more than 20-30 lbs |
Answer: | This is a nice solid product but asking it to hold 45 pounds plus 30, or 75 pounds is asking too much of it or any product with this type of tall rolling design. In my opinion for your purpose you need a solid table. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I don't understand the dimensions. how wide is the base? does it come assembled? can we lower the height? does it have screw in glides |
Answer: | The base is a triangle that measures about 19 inches wide. It comes dis-assembled. You have to set the top and base on the pole. I have no idea if you can lower the top. I bolted a larger steel plate on the top of mine to accommodate back to back grinders. If you want the base to be shorter, you'd have to cut the pole in the center. I measured about 37 inches from bottom to top. If you are asking if the are glides on the bottom of each foot, nope. |
Question: | How tall is the jet jps-2a 577172 pedestal stand for bench grinders |
Answer: | I would have to guess since I am not at home now (traveling on the road). I imagine it's approximately 36 to 42 inches tall. |
Question: | Is the stand actually White or is it Grey as the picture shows |
Answer: | It is dark grey. We ordered a grinder. It came in grey instead of white like the pictured showed. |
Question: | would i be able to bolt a bench vise to this |
Answer: | First it would definitly have to be bolted to the floor,I don't know if I would trust the cast iron top it could break with pressure and force working with a vice. Just my 2 cents |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you put casters on this stand |
Answer: | Probably, but they would definitely have to lock. I have a grinder on my stand and if i’m grinding a very heavy piece of steel it puts quite a bit of pressure on it. I would not want it to move. The stand with grinder is not too heavy to pick up and move if desired, so casters would be unnecessary. |
Question: | What are the dimensions of the base? I'm guessing 22" by 18" based on the product description- can anyone confirm this |
Answer: | Dimensions are as follows: as pictured, from left to right - 24" at widest part and 16" from front to back. |
Question: | Is this stand very stable when you are performing grinding operations? I have a Delta 8” Grinder and it weighs 40 + pounds |
Answer: | While I have a smaller 6" Delta Grinder, the "H" shaped stabilization platform on the Delta stand is solid. I am certain more top weight would assure even more stability. An extended search of reviews across the internet confirms this is one of the best stands for the price. |
Question: | How tall it the unit |
Answer: | 34” tall |

Question: | No where does it say how tall this stand is. I need a 33-36" hieght. How tall is this stand |
Answer: | It is 32" tall. I am just over 5' 10" tall and with my grinder on it, it is at a pretty good height for me. It has holes in the feet, so if you want it taller you can always mount it of something to bring it up to the level you want. It was well worth the cost. |
Question: | Could you mount a 45lb 5 " bench vise on this stand that will be used to grip 20-30 lb items |
Answer: | Only if you mount a wider circular base to the feet to prevent tipping. Legs are not long enough for a top heavy item. |
Question: | Would this work for a Skil Drill Press |
Answer: | I don't really think it would work. Drill presses are generally made to mount on a work bench or are floor type drill press. I would look for a sturdy work bench. |
Question: | Is this stand strong enough for a 99 pound 8 inch grinder |
Answer: | Yes. We did bolt on a wider base though. |
