3 best jigsaw blade for sheet metal
A jigsaw blade for sheet metal is a specialized cutting tool designed for use with a jigsaw, which is a power tool commonly used for making curved and intricate cuts in various materials, including wood, metal, and plastic. When working with sheet metal, it's essential to use the appropriate jigsaw blade to ensure clean and precise cuts. Here are some key points about jigsaw blades for sheet metal:
Material Compatibility: Jigsaw blades for sheet metal are specifically designed to cut through thin to medium-gauge sheet metal. They are typically made from high-speed steel (HSS) or bi-metal, which makes them durable and capable of withstanding the rigors of cutting metal.
Tooth Design: These blades feature a tooth design that is optimized for cutting metal. The teeth may be fine, with smaller gaps between them, to prevent binding and ensure a smooth cutting process.
TPI (Teeth Per Inch): The TPI of a jigsaw blade for sheet metal is typically higher compared to blades used for wood. Higher TPI means there are more teeth per inch, which results in finer and more precise cuts in thin materials like sheet metal.
Shank Type: Jigsaw blades come with different shank types, including T-shank and U-shank. The choice of shank type depends on the jigsaw model you have. Many modern jigsaws use T-shank blades, which are quick and easy to install.
Lubrication: Cutting sheet metal generates heat and friction, which can lead to blade wear and potential warping. Some jigsaw blades for metal cutting come with built-in lubrication features or may require the application of cutting oil to reduce heat and extend the life of the blade.
Safety: When cutting sheet metal with a jigsaw, it's important to wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses and gloves, to protect yourself from metal shavings and sparks.
Blade Replacement: Over time, jigsaw blades for sheet metal will wear out and become less effective. It's crucial to replace them when they show signs of wear to maintain cutting accuracy and safety.
Application: Jigsaw blades for sheet metal are versatile and can be used for various applications, such as cutting roofing materials, HVAC ductwork, automotive body panels, and more.
Selecting the right jigsaw blade for sheet metal is essential for achieving clean and precise cuts without damaging the material or the blade.Always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for your jigsaw and the specific blade you intend to use to ensure safe and efficient cutting.

Product features
Metal
When the job requires cutting metal, Bosch jig saw blades deliver dynamic speed and longer life versus other jig saw blades. Patented Bosch tooth geometries incorporate both aggressive and reinforced teeth to increase performance. Applications for Bosch metal-cutting jig saw blades include thin- and thick-gauge metals, plus thick-wall pipes and profiles.
Side Set & Ground
Side set and ground teeth offer clean, fast cuts in wood and plastics. In the design of jig saw blade teeth, side set means teeth are designed to be offset and are used for cuts that are fast. These blades tend to have fewer teeth per inch (TPI) and are used in thicker material applications.
Wavy Set & Milled
Wavy teeth sets are used for cuts in metal, non-ferrous metal, aluminum and plastics. For wavy teeth sets in jig saw blades, teeth are aligned in a wave design and can be used for straight, fine cuts. These blades tend to have a higher teeth per inch (TPI) count and are used in thinner material applications.
Side Set & Milled
Side set and milled teeth offer fast, rough cuts in wood and plastics. Teeth that are side set are offset in design and are used for faster, rough cuts. These blades tend to have fewer teeth per inch (TPI) and are used in thicker material applications where a rough cut is acceptable.
Ground & Taper Ground
Ground and tapered ground jig saw blades offer a precise, fine and clean cut in wood. Taper set teeth have a straight alignment and are used for slower, very fine cutting. These blades tend to have higher teeth per inch (TPI) and are used in wood applications requiring a slow, smooth cut or when cutting thinner materials.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can these blades be used for plunge cuts |
Answer: | Hello Pete A. I've had good luck with this blade. I haven't tried Fence Pipe. However if it's 3/16 in. thich it should be no problem. What you need to realize is this saw blade turns at low speed upon the saw it was made for. with few teeth and the slow speed, it becomes imperative to have the work very securely held.if it moves it can cause the blade to hang up momentarily and break off several of the teeth. Your $100 blade is then History. I did this and had to replace it. Also use no lube and try to hold the saw feed arm very solidly in your grip. Feed it slowly, you'll be able to feel the vibration, especially as it starts cutting. Pay attention to the instructions as to holding the work. If used properly it'll last a long time, but don't force it as one would do with a chop saw. I've cut 1/2 x 3 angle with no problem. It's not intended for non ferrous metals, such as aluminum---------Good Luck ! Al |
Question: | I have the ryobi cordless jigsaw that uses t shank, will this work |
Answer: | I have been in tool repair for many years and the answer to you question is that you really shouldn't. There is typically a 3 to 600 rpm difference in a traditional chop saw vs a cold cut metal saw. As well as the difference in the size and strength of the gears and bearings internally. A number of things can very likely go wrong. The simplest being breaking gear or premature bearing failure. They could be as bad as a tooth on the blade catching your work piece and bucking hard enough to seriously hurt someone. That's my two cents |
Question: | Others have bought these blades for the B&D Piranha, so I assume they're compatible? Does this set include wood, metal & plastic (PVC) blades |
Answer: | Yes you can. We cut .20-.25" wall pipe every day with this blade. 2-3/8" to 3-1/2" OD pipe. |
Question: | Are these bimetal blades |
Answer: | If the arbor is the same . it will cut pipe, and by rights , should cut a lot more than the 10 cuts you need, now if you are asking if, it will make that cut in one stroke. you would have to measure the amount of exposed blade expected that is not encumbered by saw parts. |
