A portable timber band saw is a specialized power tool designed for cutting timber and lumber. It's a versatile tool commonly used in woodworking and construction for various cutting tasks. Here's what you need to know about portable timber band saws:

  1. Design: Portable timber band saws consist of a continuous band saw blade that is mounted on a set of wheels. These wheels allow the blade to move in a continuous loop. The blade is stretched tight and guided through a cutting table or workpiece.

  2. Portability: As the name suggests, these band saws are portable, making them suitable for on-site cutting and woodworking tasks. They are often used in outdoor construction projects or in locations where a stationary saw is impractical.

  3. Blade Varieties: Portable timber band saws come with different blade varieties, including general-purpose blades and specialized blades for cutting various types of wood and different thicknesses. Blade selection depends on the specific cutting task.

  4. Cutting Capacity: The cutting capacity of a portable timber band saw can vary. Some models are designed for cutting relatively small pieces of wood, while others can handle larger logs and timber.

  5. Adjustability: Most portable band saws offer features for adjusting the blade tension, speed, and cutting angle. These adjustments allow for precision cutting and versatility in different applications.

  6. Safety Features: Portable band saws often include safety features such as blade guards and trigger locks to prevent accidents during operation. It's important to follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate protective gear when using these tools.

  7. Power Source: Portable band saws can be powered by electricity, battery, or even a gasoline engine. The choice of power source depends on your mobility needs and the availability of power at your work site.

  8. Applications: Portable timber band saws are used for a variety of tasks, including cutting lumber, logs, beams, and even metal pipes or other materials with the appropriate blade. They are commonly used in forestry, construction, and woodworking.

  9. Mobility: The mobility of portable band saws makes them valuable tools for cutting materials in remote locations, which is especially important in forestry and construction work.

  10. Maintenance: Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the proper functioning of a portable band saw. This includes keeping the blade sharp, lubricating moving parts, and inspecting for any wear or damage.

  11. Accessories: Various accessories are available for portable band saws, such as extension tables for supporting larger workpieces, mobile stands, and carrying cases for transport.

In summary, a portable timber band saw is a versatile and portable power tool used for cutting timber and lumber in woodworking, construction, and forestry applications. These tools offer a range of adjustments and safety features to ensure precision cutting and user safety. Proper maintenance and blade selection are crucial for optimal performance.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this 3/4" X 93.5" Timberwolf resaw blade fit my Jet 14" floor model bandsaw
Answer: You will need to measure around your wheels to know for sure. A standard Delta style 14" wheel band saw uses a 93.5" blade length
Question: Will this fit 14" harborfreight saw
Answer: This blade should fit any saw with 14" wheels.
Question: Is this 4 tpi or 3 tpi
Answer: It varies, the teeth are not a uniform distance apart, some teeth are 3 tpi (1/3" apart) and other teeth are 4 tpi (1/4" apart). The blade cuts great, I don't know why the teeth don't have a constant space between them, but it works well.
Question: Would this fit a porter cable 93.5 inch bandsaw
Answer: I installed this blade on a 93.5 vintage Rockwell bandsaw with no problems just needed to adjust wheel stops because of the wider blade. I would say yes should fit a 93.5 Porter Cable bandsaw

User questions & answers

Question: Will this blade fit a Delta benchtop bandsaw I believe my measurements are a56 .25 I think that makes it out to be at 9 inch band saw
Answer: This blade measures 93 1/2 inches. So it would be to long.
Question: Will this blade fot a 14 inch central machinery bandsaw
Answer: No clue what size fits that saw. the blade is 93 1/2" in circumference so measure the blade you have. I find using a piece of string then marking it makes it easier to than using the steel tape alone. If no blade, measure around the wheels. Move the blade tension adjusting knob to see if the 93 1/2' falls within the adjusting range. Use that string method.
Question: can you use a metal cutting blade
Answer: This would not work as a metal cutting blade
Question: Will this fit grizzly go555lx
Answer: Yes, if you have the standard six inch height. If you have installed the six inch riser block, you’ll need the 105-1/2” blade.

User questions & answers

Question: Can it cut 1in thickness
Answer: Yes. That is what this does. You just need to cut once with another flat guide attached to the log (a board or 2x4 will work in place of the more expensive rails, just don't cut your screws) and then adjust the depth to desired thickness and follow the flat cut for all later cuts.
Question: Simple question: Where is this made
Answer: I worked in the "Pulpwood" business for several years. Pine is a very soft wood and you shouldn't have any problems milling it as long as you have a good chainsaw and keep it sharp.
Question: I will be cutting wood slabs off tree's that are down will this work for that
Answer: At the top the tool is about 10 inches, but I wouldn't attempt anything more than7-8 inches in diameter max. As far as being able to cut a slab with this device, maybe a 4 inch teeny weeny slab. Carter makes a device called the Accurate Log Mill, that you can purchase on this this site, that you might consider for cutting planks up to about 24 inches, or so.
Question: Im new to milling so go easy on me. Is there a problem milling pine with this unit
Answer: I use 12 ft 2x4’s

User questions & answers

Question: Is this a good choice for a general purpose blade
Answer: Yes it can be used. I was able to cut 1/4 inch without too much effort. It does cut thinner stock easier. Not a good choice for Ferris metal.
Question: Will this fit a Craftsman
Answer: depending on the material you are cutting like wood would cut better and faster with like a courser plade say 6-8 teeth per inch if you use 16-18 teeth per inch it would take 4 times as long on a 2x4" wood piece, where as steel would require 12 -14 or 16-18 or 24 teeth per in. depending on steel hardness and thickness. use their recommended guide.
Question: Would this be good gir resawing
Answer: I’m not aware of a 0225, but if by chance it is 6225, yes it will fit that.
Question: will this band saw blade fit a shop fox 14 inch band saw
Answer: yes, it was a three pack...
