Answer:	I drilled a perfect hole through a china plate. I have no doubt it will work on porcelain too. I placed a bit of duct tape on both sides of the plate to prevent chipping. The biggest problem is the wandering of the drill bit . Easy to overcome if you find a scrap of wood (1/4 to 1/2 inch) and drill a hole through it of the same diameter. Use some duct tape to position it. If you're using a hand drill apply moderate pressure using a flow of water over the drill bit. It takes a little longer than you'd expect to cut through but it does. Try to keep a steady hand. Good luck.

Answer:	It seemed pretty flexible to me... I was drilling an access hole in the floor plate, going through a hole in the drywall about 1' above the floor.
