| Answer: | This is a spot cooler. Your horizontal bandsaw blade spends very little time under the nozzle, so very little cooling is provided by the limited spot, especially if you rely on air as the primary coolant. This will provide a coolant mist, but your blade will quickly sling it off.. This is more for a milling system where most of all of the cutting surface spends a good deal of time under the airstream. Your band saw has a lot of travel, and can be exposed to a lot of cooling air in that travel, so it can provide it's own cooling, as long as you provide a way to circulate air to the blade cover some how. I would consider using a hole saw to cut a 3" or 4" hole in the cover, and mount a cooling fan over the hole (like a computer fan). When buying the fan, pay no attention to the quiet fans, your saw is noisy so the fan can be too, and noisy fans are stronger fans, move more air. So buy the strongest fan that can fit the hole you cut in your blade guard, and wire it to run when the saw is running. That will provide 1000% more airflow cooling than this little spot cooler can. Use the spot cooler for an oil mist, but cool air for the whole travel of the band will provide better cooling in my opinion. |
