Here's some information about the Park Tool torque wrench:
Purpose: The Park Tool torque wrench is designed to precisely tighten bolts and fasteners to specific torque specifications. This is crucial in bicycle maintenance because over-tightening or under-tightening bolts can lead to component damage or unsafe riding conditions.
Hex Keys and Wrenches: While the torque wrench itself is an essential tool, it is often used in conjunction with hex keys (also known as Allen keys) and wrenches. These tools help in adjusting and securing various components on a bicycle, such as handlebars, stems, seatposts, and other parts that require precise torque settings.
Torque Settings: The torque wrench allows users to set specific torque values according to the manufacturer's recommendations for the particular bike component being worked on. This ensures that each bolt or fastener is tightened to the correct level, preventing issues like stripped threads or component failure.
Types: Park Tool offers a range of torque wrench models with different features and torque ranges to accommodate various bike maintenance needs. Some models are preset at specific torque values, while others are adjustable, allowing users to set their desired torque level within a specified range.
Accuracy: Park Tool torque wrenches are known for their accuracy and reliability. They are calibrated to meet industry standards, helping users achieve precise and consistent torque settings.
Use Cases: Common applications for a Park Tool torque wrench include assembling and maintaining various bike components, such as stems, handlebars, cranksets, and disc brake calipers. These components often have specific torque requirements to ensure safety and optimal performance.
Construction: These torque wrenches are typically constructed with durable materials to withstand regular use and are ergonomically designed for ease of handling.
Maintenance: Like all tools, Park Tool torque wrenches require occasional maintenance and calibration to ensure their accuracy over time. Proper storage and handling are also essential to prolong the tool's lifespan.

User questions & answers
Question: | Would I ever need to use this tool to measure torque of 2-14 Nm "counter clockwise" on a mountain bike? Thanks |
Answer: | yes, they would work fine. it is very easy to adjust and have a nice view field. |
Question: | is this a 3/8" drive |
Answer: | Hi, you need a magnification of 80 - 100 to have a look at the planets and their satellites. I have been able to identify four moons around Jupiter in a telescope at 70 - 80 magnification. You can see saturn's rings too at this magnification. Better go for a single eye piece telescope of professional make for such views - binoculars are not suitable for such views. |
Question: | The picture shows tw-5 and the description from manufacturer says tw-5, but the product description says tw-6. which is it, tw-5 or tw |
Answer: | Yes, you can use the binoculars while wearing glasses. |
Question: | Is this a 1/4 inch drive torque wrench |
Answer: | They seem pretty sturdy to me. I was very pleased. they come with lens caps for both ends |

User questions & answers
Question: | The current version has a black tool holder cap and this shows blue cap. What will I actually get |
Answer: | Mine came in black.... |
Question: | What is the difference between the atd 1 and the atd |
Answer: | The ATD-1 is the old version the ATD-1.2 is the new version. The new one is a little easier to adjust the torque setting, but works basically the same. |
Question: | Some torque drivers will be damaged if used for unfastening bolts. Is this tool ok for that |
Answer: | You should never use a torque drive to unfasten, regardless of what is on the box. Torque drivers and wrenches have to be calibrated (and should be regularly recalibrated). Using them to unfasten causes them to become inaccurate faster, if not damaging the tool permanently. |
Question: | Does anyone know the accuracy of this? It's odd that Park doesn't listed it on its website...makes me think it's up near +/- 6% or something |
Answer: | I just (December 2019) purchased two of these, and tested both of them using a park tool tw-5.2 AND a Quinn digital torque adapter. Both Park ATD-1.2 torque drivers delivered higher torque than the indicated value. 4NM indicated on the ATD-1.2 was actually just over 4.6NM tested. The errors got smaller as the torque values went up...at 6NM indicated, the actual torque delivered was about 6.7 NM. In other words, at the low end the ATD-1.2 delivers about 15% more torque than indicated, and at the high end, it delivers about 12% more torque than indicated. This was consistent...both of my ATD-1.2 drivers gave me the same results, and the results were the same regardless of which device I used to measure them! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with a chart or table to show recommend bike torque settings |
Answer: | No, because recommended torque settings are highly specific to the actual bike. Most bike manufacturers provide recommended manuals torque settings for each bike, although sometimes it requires some digging to find these manuals. That said, the maximum torque provided by this torque wrench is 6 Nm, which is pretty safe for the vast majority of components. Hope this helps |
Question: | Can i buy replacement bits |
Answer: | Yes. I believe the bits are standard. You can buy a set of bits and it should fit. |
Question: | Does this tool come with different bits or just with the one showing in the picture |
Answer: | This comes with 4 bits total 3, 4 and 5 hex and 25torx. Three bits store in the handle. |
Question: | Is the driver ratcheted or is it a fixed |
Answer: | it is fixed. It slips when torque setting is reached. |
- Precision Torque Measurement - Install components with calibrated precision - 2.0 to 20.0 Newton Meter torque range with micro adjustment to 0.1. Helps ensure that the fittings on your bike are tightened to the correct torque, and that clamping forces are distributed evenly across clamping surfaces. This helps prolong the life of high-performance components and prevents damage from over tightening. Ideal for use on stems, seat clamps, lever clamps, chain sets, rotors and headsets.
- Peace of Mind Protect Your Investment – Over-tightening bolts can cause expensive damage to your bike. Applying too little torque can lead to bolts working loose or not doing their job. Our 1/4-inch drive dual-direction torque wrench driver removes the guesswork, making it easy to follow the manufacturer’s recommended settings. Each hand tool is shipped pre-calibration tested for accuracy, +/- 4% (clockwise) and +/- 6% (counter clockwise).
- Safe & Easy to Use & Read – Smooth and precise operation. Spring loaded adjustment collar automatically ‘locks’ in place at the desired torque setting, ensuring it will not accidentally slip when being used. High-contrast Nm scale is easy to read. Wrench emits a ‘click’ that can be ‘heard and/or felt’ when the pre-set torque value is reached, alerting you to ‘stop’ applying force. Important: At low Nm settings under 5 Nm the click can be ‘subtle’. Between 5 & 20 Nm the click will be stronger.
- Right Tools for The Job – Includes Hex: H2, H2.5, H3, H4, H5, H6, H8, H10. Torx: T10, T25, T30 socket / key set and 100mm extension bar for reaching concealed bolts. Bespoke protective molded case to keep the adjustable torque wrench and tool bits stored safely, also includes ‘storage’ section inside case to store bolts when using the wrench. Reversible 72-tooth ratchet head measures torque in clockwise and counter clockwise directions. Engage and release bit instalment button.
- Professional Quality – Each hand tool is fully calibration tested for accuracy to ISO 6789-2:2017 and DIN EN ISO 6789-1:2017-07 requirements and test methods for design conformance testing, quality conformance testing and recalibration procedure. Includes individual certificate of calibration with each set. HOW DOES A 'CLICK' TORQUE WRENCH WORK?
The clicker mechanism works by spring tension inside the wrench.
When the level of torque has been achieved, there will be a click which will be felt and/or heard - the more tension that's applied to the spring, the stronger the click. IMPORTANT: at low Nm settings under 5 Nm the click can be ‘subtle', this is normal for all click torque wrenches. We, therefore, recommend operating the torque wrench in a 'quiet environment'. The click will be ‘stronger’ when used between 5 and 20 Nm.
The torque wrench should be turned slowly, steadily and smoothly, stopping when you feel and/or hear the click.
