User questions & answers
Question: | Do you hand crank it |
Answer: | For the StripMeister Original you will need to use a corded or wireless drill. |
Question: | Does the wire ever slide off |
Answer: | Only if the blade is too loose. Once you have it tightened down, the wire will not slide off. |
Question: | does it work on #14 thhn wire |
Answer: | Short answer is, Yes. If I recall they say itle do down to 18 AWG, buuuut...Long answer is... The smaller the wire more finesse it takes to keep it in the grove and not jump out from under the blade. It makes a difference if its solid or stranded too. I've done alot of #14 on mine but it takes more work than, say #8 or even #10. |
Question: | can you buy replacement blades for the stripper |
Answer: | I think the seller has the replacement blades for sale also |

User questions & answers
Question: | How does this crimp an F-connector |
Answer: | I did not have that problem, worked fine. |
Question: | Will this strip all insulation and shielding down to the conductor if I want it to |
Answer: | From the Klein Tools web site:Overall Length: 4.6" (116.84mm)Strip Dimensions: 5/16: and 1/4" (7.93mm and 6.35mm)Weight: 1.2oz.We have in stock. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Anybody find that the center copper wire ends up too short on rg6 cables? the wire extends less than 1/16" past the f-connector |
Answer: | this is for stripping the outer jacket on multi conductor cables. The depth of cut is adjustable. Spiraling is a technique, usually you just circle around and pull it straight off. |
Question: | are the product dimensions correct at 1.5 x 3.8 x 9.6 inches? that seems really big |
Answer: | I've used it on 1/4 SO cord, about the max that it will take, #1 THHN wire, 10/4 &12/4 SO and other various sizes of wire and cable. It works perfect once you get used to which way to orient the blade. Way better than the Ideal I used to use. You won't be disappointed, other than the cost, but what good tools don't cost more? |

Question: | Will this work on rg-8x cable? it has a .242 od |
Answer: | No 1 end is rg7 or rg11 only the other end is rg6 |
Question: | Will it work for RG6 screw connectors |
Answer: | You can not change the blade. |
Question: | Can I use both ends on rg6 at the same time |
Answer: | This is not for crimping, this is for stripping insulation from the cable. |
Question: | Like most coax strippers out there, can you change out the blades? If you can, how? Or is this a one hit wonder |
Answer: | It will strip the wire to be ready to receive the fitting, the braiding will need to be spread back. If your goal is to expose strictly conductor, just use the tools backwards. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the trick to changing the blade? I can't seem to find an instruction manual online |
Answer: | Yes, adjusts to thick insulation or very thin. One recommendation is to buy a few extra blades though. You will break the 1st one almost guaranteed as you are learning the tools use. They are expensive but such is life my friend |
Question: | What’s the min and max cable diameter it can strip |
Answer: | no, there is storage for one - but you have to buy them separately |
Question: | How much is the maximum that blade can travel into insulation to cut the thickness? Can it be used with harmonized cables |
Answer: | Not sure. It works great on 59, 6 and 20. |
Question: | Is there a spare blade? someone said there is a spare blade comes with in the handle. I don't see in my new coming tool |
Answer: | Yes this tool will prep rg6 so you can install a twist on connector. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work with heavy duty wires/cords |
Answer: | Dear friend, Thank you for your support. As for the problem you said, the range of products used by the line between 10-24AWG. Have a nice day! Thank you ! |
Question: | Can this strip and crimp coaxle cable |
Answer: | Yes, it will strip coax cable. I stripped a piece of RJ-6. The outer jacket was removed leaving the wire mesh shield in place. I then pushed the mesh shield down and stripped the inner layer exposing the copper core. Worked like a charm. However, I don't recommend crimping coax cable with this tool. The crimper on this tool is designed for crimping electrical connectors. Suggest you invest in a coax crimp tool. |
Question: | Are these heavy or fairly light |
Answer: | They are not too heavy as to drag you down while you are working. However, these are sturdy wire strippers. They are not so light as to feel cheap. They are just right. |
Question: | What is the brass tuning screw for on the wire stripper |
Answer: | It's supposed to be for adjusting the stripping strength so you don't damage the wire when you strip it. I wouldn't recommend these strippers to anyone. They broke the second time I tried to strip a wire. Spend a little more and buy a brand name. Otherwise, you may be having to order a new one quicker than expected. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this strip awg 4/0 copper stranded wire |
Answer: | I just measured mine, Max diameter that will fit is 24.3mm, about 0.96" Minimum is 3.6mm, about 0.14" inches. I am not sure how effective they will be at the extremes, as I do not have any wire of those dimensions to check. I measured the opening on the tool. |
