Question: | Where can I get a manual for this drill press |
Answer: | As answered you can get a copy of the manual from Grizzly or from Amazon.http://cdn0.grizzly.com/manuals/w1668_m.pdfandhttp://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i3d/01/A/man-migrate/MANUAL000041994.pdfThey are not identical (40 pages on the Grizzly website, and 27 on the Amazon page). On difference is the depth stop. On the Grizzly site it is a jam nut on the depth stop rodon the left side, on the Amazon it is set on a collar lock knob on the spindle on the right side.My drill press has both depth stops, but the spindle does not have the depth label, and is notmentioned in the manual that came with the drill. When using the oscillating sander feature itcould be damaged if either stop is set. |
Question: | Trying to find a replacement belt for the oscillating sander portion (X1668061), anyone know where to find these online |

The closest analogue I could find was here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051Y2LSO/ref=biss_dp_t_asn If you want true OEM parts, you can call Woodstock international at (360) 734-3482 7AM-5PM PST/PDT M-F |
Question: | Is this a jt33 Taper Chuck, anyon eknow, i want to geta keyless for it |
Answer: | Yes. Page 14 of the manual supplied with the drill press says, "The drill chuck is seated to the spindle with a JT-33 tapered surface and a screw." |

User questions & answers
Question: | Could you polish a crankshaft on it |
Answer: | No work light, but this is a pretty amazing drill press. Easy enough to clip one one. The radial aspect of it makes it very versatile. You can drill much further towards center of a longer piece, the tilting head is much more accurate and easy to use than a tilting table. Needs to be secured to the floor pretty good. I made a base out of a half sheet of 3/4 plywood with 2 X 6 flat framing. I would not trade it for another. Had a few in the past, this one far exceeds any of them. |
Question: | How wide of an item could you work with this system? Could you do the base of a small bowl with it |
Answer: | I don't think it's supposed to be noisy? |
Question: | Is it dificult to center |
Answer: | It's about 3-1/2" with both nuts on. If you need more travel remove nuts and use a needle nose Visegrip. |
Question: | I have an 8 inch drill press will it work on mine |
Answer: | It is too top heavy with the radial head for free standing. I took a 1/2 sheet of 3/4 plywood, I "framed" it underneath with 2 x 6 laying flat, put a cross member where the front set of base bolts when and then bolted the base to the frame. This gave me a big enough base to keep it stable. Works great, I can slide the drill press aside when not using it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the diameter of the top mounting hole |
Answer: | That will basically depend on what mounting options you have for the "tool rest." If you have a large drill press table with accommodating mounting slots, you could probably turn the outside of a small bowl. Hollowing the bowl, however, will present a challenge since the tool rest is not adjustable. Having "been there and done that," if you have interest in turning as a hobby, I would just purchase a proper lathe...the Woodstock system becomes very frustrating, very fast. Good luck! |
Question: | I have a Wen 12" model 4214 which size or model shop fox drill press guard diameter do I need |
Answer: | It is very easy to center just place fixture in drill table center and adjust side to side. |
Question: | Does this product have an ansi rating |
Answer: | It doesn't matter if it's an 8, 9, 10, or whatever size the table is. What makes a difference is if it's a bench top or a floor drill press. This tool primarily is for floor drill presses because of the length of the tool rest. There are some bench models this might fit. I would strongly suggest that you should not use a bench press that has less than about 12 inches of distance from on top of the drills table to no less than the bottom of the drills chuck. About 14 if your turning wood less than 2 inches in diameter. The reason I say this is because you always want the tool rest to be as close as possible to what you are turning. This tool works with the principal of applying pressure against your work by raising the table and not by lowering the drill chuck. Be very careful with using this tool because the tool rest is only supported from one side and you will be moving your cutters vertically instead of horizontally which is the most common practice for wood turning. |

This great little machine sports some of the same features found on much larger mill/drills: Dovetail column, variable speed 3/4 HP motor, R8 spindle with digital read out, tapered gibs with double locks, and large 5-1/2" X 19-11/16" Table. This is an excellent value and great for just starting out or even as a dedicated, single-purpose machine in the shop! Purchase the optional D4780 stand for the ultimate mill/drill package.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the height of this machine from bottom of base to the highest point ? paraplegic trying to build custom stand for this - thanks in advance for |
Answer: | Verticle (Z axis) is on the right as the operator stands facing the machine. FYI the Z axis can be a bit heavy when there is a lot of repetitive up and down motion required. I rigged a gas spring that stands parallel to the column and counter balances the weight of the head. Used a 100# 30" oal with 12.8 stroke. Now cranking up and down is almost effortless. |
Question: | Is there any way to tram the head on the machine |
Answer: | The SHOP FOX Deluxe Milling Machine does not come with a power feed. The power feed, along with many other optional equipment can be seen at the manufacturer's(Woodstock International) website. |
Question: | Is it "a large 7 1/16" x 26 5/8 table" or a "large 5-1/2" x 19-11/16" table?" both are mentioned in product description on this page |
Answer: | The Model M1111 is designed for an 110V power supply. It requires a minimum of a 15 amp circuit. |
Question: | What size chuck does this machine have |
Answer: | Steel is not a problem. Its a question of how aggressive the cuts are and the sharpness of the tooling. Its no Bridgeport but adequate for all material and the tapping mode is something I have found extremely useful. |
