User questions & answers
Question: | Do these cut acsr |
Answer: | I have not personally cut acsr with them. Though they are strong, and ive cut through and twisted multiple 12/2 electrical wire at once, i wouldnt recommend them for acsr. If you were to try it, i wouldnt try it anything bigger than 6AL/1St. But it would probably still be a bit tough to do. |
Question: | Anyone have any issues with rusting/seizing? I do a lot of metal work so I quench in water briefly and I'm sick of pliers seizing on me |
Answer: | I live in a part of Texas with high humidity, so I also have a problem with tools seizing from rust. Once the original finish is penetrated, not much will stop it, but for my precision tools I give them an occasional shot of penetrating oil and have found soaking them (open jawed) in the same will save most and free up even seized units with some working of the hinges. |
Question: | Do these have a lifetime warranty |
Answer: | Yes Klein has a lifetime warranty and Home Depot honors it. |
Question: | How do these compare to Knipex linesman pliers |
Answer: | I use my pliers everyday I bought a pair of knipex from Amazon and thought from what everyone said knipex were better but after using them for about six months I’ve been having issues with them so I will be purchasing another pair of Klein’s. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Could I really replace my strippers with this? I'm looking for a better set of strippers and I'm having a hard time finding something good |
Answer: | Better than any stripper I've bought .They also let you twist a wire before you marrette . Anyhow it's all I use and I wire 2 houses a week . |
Question: | What length klein koat replacement grip fits the j2158cr hybrid |
Answer: | The plastic hand grips appear to be molded onto the pliers but they are 120mm long and appear to be a non conductive material although it is written on them that they are not insulated and will not protect against electric shock. I tested them to 1000v and they passed the insulation test fine so I am happy with their insulating properties for low voltage but working on live conductors is not a recommended safe practice. I hope this helps |
Question: | How much do they weigh |
Answer: | 11.7 oz. They are comfortable to work with. Cuts through multiple #12's and was able to twist 5 #12's to make a joint and they performed really well. |
Question: | Can you cut 12/2 or 12/4 metal clad cable with these pliers |
Answer: | 12/2 yes 12/4 never had to |

User questions & answers
Question: | What’s the difference between the red and blue handle’s? Just the color |
Answer: | HD2000 cuts harder materials and the orange/red handles are double dipped if I am not mistaken. I prefer the Red grip to the Blue. Seems like the black separates from the blue over time as well. (Helpers have had the blue). |
Question: | where can i get the 8 inch don't ask i have a dextoery isuu and i had this pair in8" lineman |
Answer: | not sure? 9in is pretty common, Channellock is my runner up to Klein and they have an 8in model of linesman pliers |
Question: | Are the grips thicker on these or are they just thin dipped handle grips prone to eventual cracking and needing taping |
Answer: | this is a thicker dipped handle and a fine tool. But it is not near the thick, well built, heavy duty original Klein 9NE.Look for the Klein made pre 90's. I bought this new one as I nicked the cutting edge of my old ones. Klein still makes the best, just disappointed. No, the grips won't crack and they won't need taping. |
Question: | Is this the same thing as the J2000-9NE except the grips |
Answer: | I’m not sure what the J2000’s are, but the ones I have are the classic red’s with the thicker grip. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How wide do these open...can uou grip a 2 inch emt fitting |
Answer: | Yes, they will work on 2” EMT. There light weight and work great when working overhead. I just completed a large commercial electrical job.. I use these very same pliers. My advise is purchase 2 pairs, the 10” work the best. The 12’ are to big and clumsy. I own 2 pairs of them also. The design allows to grab and hold on to bolt heads, ( Unlike channel locks which have a straight jaw face that bolts slip on. ) use them on tightening compression fittings. These will become your go to pliers as they have become mine. |
Question: | I had these for only two months and the end chipped pretty bad does klien do any kind of replacement |
Answer: | Reach out to the mfg or retailer for replacement. |
Question: | were are these pliers made |
Answer: | According to the pair I got the stamp says made in Germany. Being German I normally view this as a plus and I love Klein tools but I'm not going to lie I don't care for these pliers at all. I bought a pair of Milwaukee channel locks and love them. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Rebranded knipex |
Answer: | No. Rebranded NWS. Also sold under the Felo brand. Identical down to the made in Germany stamp. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What country are these made in |
Answer: | They have a very strong grip so I believe they would work to pull weeds and saplings. |
Question: | Do these pliers have teeth on the inside of the long nose? I am looking for a pair of pliers without the teeth on the inside |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | What's the difference between these and the klein tools j203-8n 8" inch journeyman heavy duty long nose pliers side cutting |
Answer: | After almost a year of nearly exclusive use with safety wire, I don't think electrical wiring will be any problem |
Question: | Are these handles insulated for electric |
Answer: | Wrong tool for the job. Get a pair of gas fitter's pliers; or better yet the Engineer or Vampliers (which are the US version of the Engineer Pliers) screw pliers. Failing that, a pair of Vise Grips (straight or pipe jaw) works equally as well. |
