Question: | Can I buy replcement rachet for blade |
Answer: | no, I'm sorry we don't sell parts for those blades.thanks |
Question: | what size blades does the knife use? I have a pack of that have .5 stamped on it, will these work for it |
Answer: | The Olfa 5004 L-2 knife uses Olfa (and most other) 18mm replacement blades. |
Question: | Is the screw that actually locks the blade made of plastic or metal, and is it threaded through plastic or metal. How strong is locking mechanism |
Answer: | The screw is brass, located through the center of the locking knob. The blade itself is held by a plastic tab on the locking slider. If you are looking for a blade that is held only by metal screws or tabs, this isn't for you. I do think it's one of the best utility knifes available. I use two of them. |
Question: | how do i snap off the blades |
Answer: | I just slip the used section of the blade out past the surrounding metal and lock in place. Cover with a piece of paper or fabric and push the blade into a hard surface such as a table, to snap it off. |

Question: | What’s the difference between this one and the others olfa 5019? or the nt red, i will need it for windows tint |
Answer: | The 19 is auto lock I find the auto lock to be a pain in the ass... I know my tinter at my shop hates the auto lock too... i have one as a back up but never like using it... i use the 18 myself and own like 10 of them and buy the blades from Ebay olfa brand from china way cheaper but for tint make sure it's the stainless blades the other blades olfa makes is sharper and cuts into glass very easy... the stainless wont be as easy to cut a deep line in the glass when trimming tint around things... must have for Vinyl guys too... |
Question: | what is the difference between the svr-1 and the svr |
Answer: | The SVR-2 Features right or left-handed use, blade position auto-lock, and one-segment click action. |
Question: | Does this blade lock manually? I'm not sure what is meant by "slide lock |
Answer: | It doesn’t lock manually. Metal case has significant grooves which lock the blade in place, but if you use a lot of pressure while cutting, the blade itself can retract. Unless you hold it firmly with your thumb. |
Question: | Can the blade be turned around so the knife can be used left-handed |
Answer: | Thanks for reaching out! This blade can't be turned around for left hand use, but our SK-4, SK-9 knives can. |
Question: | Is the lock mechanism (wheel and threaded rod) all metal, and is the material it is threaded through metal |
Answer: | The locking wheel and threaded rod are all metal. The slider it attaches to is plastic, but it still gets the job done. |
