Product description

Do anything with one hand behind your back. This Kickstart Mid-Folding Hunter makes short work of anything that requires ease of carry, quick deployment and superb one-handed control. Apply pressure to the thumb stud and our patented Kickstart assisted opening technology springs this knife into action. Cutting, slicing, carving, chopping and paring are light work for this popular knife made better. This knife is constructed with our Chrome Vanadium (CV) steel. Some knife lovers will settle for nothing less than Chrome Vanadium blades, since this special formula of alloyed steel is the “original” Case blade steel. Case Chrome Vanadium blades are known for their edge-holding ability and easy re-sharpening. However, they are less resistant to rusting, pitting and discoloration than stainless steel. We recommend keeping a thin film of oil on the blade to maintain the finish. This ensures that your knife will be around for future generations to enjoy. The handle is Dark Red Bone with standard jigging, a longtime favorite in the Case line. Complete with a 2 7/8 inch Clip blade with thumb stud and pocket clip, this knife will be a trusted companion for camping, fishing and tackling those everyday tasks with ease. Comes conveniently packaged in a box. Made in Bradford, PA, USA from domestic and imported materials.

Question: Does it have a belt clip
Answer: I think it probably could. Ours was used to hold my husband's police shields that he wore over his 30-year career and they are concave in shape, the surface of the shields bowing out certainly as far as the depth of a large old key I would think. It's a nice piece of furniture.

Answer: Thank you for checking with us. Yes, this particular knife is a large stockman.
Question: What is the difference between this knife and the Case 178? is the 178 worth double the price? looks to be very similar in the size and make. Thanks
Answer: No, this is an old-fashioned pocket knife and does not have spring-assisted opening or a lock.
Question: do you have a large stockman with yellow handle
Answer: this is made to hang on the wall. However, you CANNOT open the display case when hanging. you must take it down before you open the door or the knives will fall out for sure. The knives are simply kept in place by the pressure between the foam inside and the glass.
Question: The knife Is made in usa. but Is the trusharp stainless steel America made
Answer: We did not attach to wall. Grandson only used it as a shelf display. Also, found it not very deep so would not take large knives. Otherwise it was a perfect gift for him.

Question: Does this have a locking blade
Answer: Yes the knife is easy to open, closing initially was a little awkward but after using a few times you get the knack of doing it. I would really recommend the knife, I've had pocket knives from being a small boy (I'm now 76) and this is the best knife I have ever had. Enjoy!!
Question: does this knife lock the blade in open position
Answer: Thanks for checking with us. Being a natural material, the color on these bone handles will vary from knife to knife..
Question: does this knife have a pocket clip
Answer: Thanks for checking. I am not aware of any Case toothpick that has a locking blade. The closest thing that we offer would be the Case mini blackhorn style knife. I hope that helps.

Care Tips for Case Knives

Tru-Sharp Stainless Steel (SS) is a special high-carbon steel that helps the blades hold an edge. It also offers extraordinary blade strength and corrosion resistance.

Chrome Vanadium (CV) blades are known for their edge-holding ability and easy re-sharpening. However, they are less resistant to rusting, pitting and discoloration than stainless steel. We recommend keeping a thin film of oil on the blade to maintain the finish.

Sharpening

Blades are honed at an inclusive angle of 35° - 45° from the factory. Maintaining a constant angle, hold the blade 17° - 22° from the surface of a sharpening stone and stroke the blade as if shaving a thin layer from the stone. Repeat the stroking motion along the entire edge of the blade starting at the blade heel and working to the tip. Turn the blade over and repeat the process.

Cleaning

To clean the blades and handles of your Case knife, apply a small drop of oil in the joints of your knife and a small amount of oil on a clean, soft rag or cloth. Wipe down the blades and handles with the soft cloth. The inside of knife can be cleaned with cotton-tipped swabs and wooden tooth picks. To remove any adhesive tape on your knife, apply nail polish remover or lighter fluid to a soft cloth to easily remove the residue. Rusting may occur to older knives. Rust spots on older knives should be oiled well and the knife should be allowed to sit for a few days. Carefully, scrape away the rust spot with the tip of a sharp, stiff knife.

Our Recommendation

Case Honing Oil.

This honing oil is made especially for re-sharpening knives. The main features of this honing oil are: protect the sharpening stone, carry away debris, and produce a keen edge on a metal blade such as a knife.
