The Scout is marginally smaller (7.3 v 7.4) but with a longer bladed knife (3.63 vs 3.00) according to the Gerber website...probably due to the Scout being designed for smaller hands. However for us larger scouts the AO fits a mature grown man's hand and for one hand opening, I really enjoy the ease of having my Bear Grylls AO knife.
