14 best waterproof stain for deck

Waterproof stains for decks are specialized coatings designed to protect and enhance the appearance of outdoor wooden surfaces, particularly decks. These stains are formulated to provide a durable and water-resistant finish, helping to shield the wood from the effects of moisture, UV rays, and other environmental factors. Here are key points related to waterproof stains for decks:

  1. Waterproofing Properties: The primary purpose of these stains is to create a waterproof barrier on the surface of the wood. This helps prevent water penetration, which can lead to issues like warping, cracking, and rotting.

  2. UV Protection: Many waterproof deck stains include UV inhibitors that protect the wood from the harmful effects of sunlight. UV rays can cause wood to fade and degrade over time, so UV protection helps maintain the color and integrity of the wood.

  3. Enhanced Durability: Waterproof deck stains are formulated to be more durable than regular wood stains. They often contain additives that improve resistance to wear, foot traffic, and other forms of abrasion.

  4. Color Options: These stains come in a variety of colors, allowing homeowners to choose a finish that complements their outdoor aesthetic. Some stains are transparent, allowing the natural wood grain to show through, while others are semi-transparent or solid, providing different levels of coverage.

  5. Easy Application: Many waterproof stains are designed for easy application. They can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed onto the deck surface. Some stains are also formulated to be fast-drying for quicker project completion.

  6. Mold and Mildew Resistance: To combat the growth of mold and mildew, which can be common in outdoor environments, some waterproof stains include anti-fungal agents. This helps to keep the deck surface looking clean and well-maintained.

  7. Wood Compatibility: It's important to choose a waterproof stain that is suitable for the type of wood used in your deck. Different wood species may have specific characteristics that require compatible stains.

  8. Maintenance Requirements: While waterproof deck stains offer enhanced protection, regular maintenance is still essential. Some stains may require reapplication every few years, depending on factors such as climate, exposure to the elements, and foot traffic.

Before applying a waterproof stain, it's advisable to thoroughly clean and prepare the deck surface. Following the manufacturer's instructions for application and maintenance is crucial to ensure the best results and long-term protection for your deck.

User questions & answers

Question: The listing says semi-transparent, but the picture says transparent, which version is this
Answer: Semi
Question: Is this a gallon container of the product
Answer: Yes this is a one gallon of Thompson water seal
Question: what clear seal do you recommend to use on 12year old pressure treated planks
Answer: I've used Thompson's water-based semi-transparent stain/sealer 3 times now for my 15 year-old pressure-treated deck and it has always done a great job of covering and protecting the wood. It doesn't really last the 4 years they claim, but still very good. They also make an oil-based clear sealer and I use that on my cedar pergola, also very good stuff but it's hard to work with because it doesn't cleanup with water. As an alternative to the oil-base they have an all-purpose water-based clear sealer for wood and masonry. I would use that on my pergola if it was made of pressure treated wood, but with cedar I really want a penetrating oil. So for your pressure treated deck, I would recommend the water-based clear sealer. Given how well the semi-transparent stain has worked for me, I would expect good results with the clear as well. You will certainly want to clean the wood first if you expect to brighten the gray appearance of aged wood. I spray oxygen bleach on the wood first and then scrub with a stiff brush and rinse before sealing.
Question: Would this product work well on untreated Adirondack furniture
Answer: Yes, I think it would be suitable. I have only used it on my deck however. Good protection in a wet climate. Rub it down well after it dries to keep the color from getting on clothes though if you're using a color stain.

User questions & answers

Question: Title says 3 gl, options offers 5 gl. i click on 5 gl to the order but the order form shows 3 gl. so am i getting the 3 or 5 gl
Answer: I have the same problem. Did you ever find a replacement strainer that is easy to get out through the rack?
Question: Can this product be used in a paint sprayer
Answer: Outer diameter is 4.5", inner diameter 3". It fits my kitchen sink perfectly.
Question: Where can I get the clear in 5 gallon buckets? I love my new fence and don't want to apply any stain color
Answer: Yes, it works quite well for me. I have a double sink, so I bought two. I keep one on the garbage disposal side at all times to prevent silverware (etc) from falling in. This works very well in my kitchen.
Question: I am looking for "olympic natural look protector plus sealant ", for my red wood deck. is this the same one
Answer: There are two different models you must choose from. One is only a strainer, while the other is both a strainer and a stopper. Just pick the one that reads 'strainer stopper' and you'll be fine!

Stain + Sealant in One

Stain + Sealant in One protects and beautifies in one step.

Weather-Ready Application

Allows greater opportunities for staining when it may rain or when the weather may be too hot or cold.

Enhanced waterproofing protection

Helps make sure your wood is protected from cracking due to water.

Advanced SunBlock UV

Helps protects your wood from dangerous UV rays that can wear down the coating.

How much stain do you need to buy?

One gallon of wood stain covers approximately 250-350 square feed, which is enough for a small to medium deck. It should also cover both sides of a 25 foot long fence or a couple pieces of furniture.

Two Gallons

Two gallons of wood stain cover approximately 600 square feed, which should be more than enough for the standard deck project or a 50 foot long fence.

Three or more Gallons

Three or more gallons of wood stain will most likely only be needed on large projects, as they should cover over 850 square feed.

Note: Solid Color Stain requires two coats. You should effectively double your gallons purchased when using a solid.

How To Stain Your Wood Deck In 3 Easy Steps

Sweep debris from deck and then use a product such as Olympic Premium Deck Cleaner to penetrate the wood and lift dirt to the surface to be cleaned, as well as clean stains caused by mildew, dirt, algae and mold. Allow surface to dry.

STEP 2

Tape off any surfaces you don’t want stained. Also, avoid staining in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces because the stain will dry too fast to penetrate properly.

STEP 3

For clear, toner and semi-transparent stains, apply a thin coat with a high-quality brush, roller, paint pad, or spray. For solid stains, apply two thin coats with a brush, roller, or paint pad. To avoid lap marks, apply to a few boards at a time, keeping a wet edge.

For best results, backbrush into the surface to work finish into the wood and ensure the coating is even. Make sure to treat all areas of the wood, including joints, edges and ends.

You’re going to want to follow the directions on your stain container to determine if anything needs done after your final application.

User questions & answers

Question: will this work in paint gun
Answer: yes it will, that's how I applied it.
Question: Will be applying to white cedar fence. How dry does the wood have to be
Answer: I did not heed the "one year" to dry on the new portion of my deck. Did old and new at the same time when the new portion was perhaps 2 months old. There was a definite difference. I washed and brightened both. Also did two coats. The 2nd coat was done while the first coat was still wet as per instructions. Also brushed vs. rolled. The stain seeped into the older wood much better and the color is richer. Don't believe the stain will last for years. In covered areas yes, it does. But my deck area that gets full S.Carolina sun, does not last the year. I re-stained last year and will be doing a layer of water proofing on horizontal surfaces this year in hopes that I won't have to stain again for a while. I am still happy that I bought the water based just because of the clean up and the ease of re-staining even if I feel I had to do it much quicker than if I had used oil based.
Question: Can I use this on my new cream colored bamboo blinds? Unsure about the method they were colored, but almost no sheen. Want stain protection in kitchen
Answer: Hard to say without looking at the wood , but if the wood still looks porous enough we're the Stain can soak in some I would think a light coat possibly 2 would do it. It's very thin milky color but dries clear
Question: I am applying this to a fence. Would you recommend it for fences? Also, if you have used this product how well is it holding up
Answer: Using it for 10 years, great on fences. Apply W weed oil sprayer. Brush W 4" throw away brush as needed. Time between coats varies W the look you want. 2-3 years looks great. At 5 years fading is noticeable. Apply when cool. Dampen surfaces to get soak in.
Question: Can I use this on kitchen cabinets made with walnut veneer? My goal is to keep the natural raw, light look but also see the grain, not milky
Answer: No, don’t use on kitchen cabinets. Instead use water base polyurethane. Easy clean up and is just as good as oil base polyurethane.
Question: Can this be used to seal laminate flooring
Answer: It is not for interior use. Also you cannot stain , paint or varnish over Seal-Once products. Seal-Once must be applied to raw wood.
Question: Can this be used over an oil base stain
Answer: No.
Question: What’s the best product for Douglas fir pergola
Answer: No, this Seal Once product is not made for pergola floors, it has a dull finish. Not shiny. I would think you would want a poly eyrthane, which is durable and has a shine, recommend a semi-gloss. I would suggest you go to Sherwin Williams and consult their opinion.

User questions & answers

Question: The instructions say to use with softwoods. What about hardwoods
Answer: "Hardwood" describes wood from trees that lose their leaves seasonally. "Softwood" refers to conifers (e.g. pine trees). There are plenty of Hardwoods that are softer than hard Softwoods (though generally hardwoods tend to be sturdier than softwoods). I suspect they're recommending this for use with Softwoods because they'll be more likely to absorb this than a hardwood would. There's a reason why you don't generally see Pine used to make Barrels (or boats), other than because any consumable liquid you put in a pine barrel would taste like Pine air-freshener smells. If my suspicion is correct, that they're worried about hard closed-pore woods not absorbing this as well as "softwoods".. there are some "Hardwoods" that are very much like "Softwoods" in this regard. For Example.. White Oak is used for Wine Barrels because it has closed pores (and because it has some natural resistance to decay.. more than other North American & European hardwoods). Red Oak, on the other hand, has open pores which makes it way more water permiable. You can actually take a small piece of red oak (like a dowel), put one end in water and blow in the other end, and (depending on the cut and particular tree) you can actually create bubbles in the water because the open pores act like straws. Anyway.. bottom line.. I strongly suspect they're recommending for Soft Woods because they expect they will absorb more of the material.. which would also be important for it to not leave a goopy coating since it applies like a thin paste. For these reasons, it would probably work well on open-pored hardwoods too. I suspect this won't work well with pressure-treated wood either. The protectant that is applied deep into the wood under pressure would close up the pores (by design), prevent this from penetrating into the wood (same problem we have with gluing pressure treated wood). Not only would this decrease it's effectiveness, it would also adversely affect how it looks after it dries. You'll end up with a much thicker top-coat if it can't absorb into the wood. ---Steven. P.S. I was going to check the questions to see if there was info about using this as an anti-rot protectant under a final top-coat.. until I saw in the that it's silicon based. I know it's not related to this specific question but... Silicone-based products are hydrophobic (they repel water). If you tried paint over this with a water-based latex finish, it wouldn't stick. The Roxil would literally push the paint away from it's surface electrostaticly, the same way it makes water drops beed-up. Bummer, for a moment I had hopped this might be a clear alternative to green copper-based wood protectant.. which requires a bit more work to cover with White top-coats. :-/. Oh well.. still looks interesting for what it is. I'm going to get a quart to try out.
Question: Can this be used on pressure treated wood
Answer: I just submitted an answer to another question here.. about this product being recommended for Softwood, not Hardwood. Please check that answer out after it's been approved for posting to see the following in it's full context. Here's the bit I included there specifically about using this with pressure treaded wood though.. "I suspect this won't work well with pressure-treated wood either. The protectant that is applied deep into the wood under pressure would close up the pores (by design), prevent this from penetrating into the wood (same problem we have with gluing pressure treated wood). Not only would this decrease it's effectiveness, it would also adversely affect how it looks after it dries. You'll end up with a much thicker top-coat if it can't absorb into the wood." Sorter context: I think they recommend only using on softwood because it's more likely to absorb deeply into softwood than (most) hardwood. Because it's a paste.. it is either going to absorb into the wood, or it's going to dry as a thick top-coat that's more likely to wear or wash away. The Pressure-Treatment process would also prevent this from absorbing deep into the wood fiber and pores. I suspect (but can't confirm, yet) that this won't apply well to Pressure treated wood for this reason.. at least not to new pressure-treated wood. If you wanted to protect old PT wood that's got a dry weathered surface, you might have more success. --hope this helps, even though it's not based on first-hand knowledge.. just my experience working with wood. :-)
Question: Does anyone know if this product will work on an exterior table that was previously clear coated? It’s in need of a new, more robust clear coat
Answer: I fear the clear coat will repel the Roxil Wood Protection Cream from absorbing into the table wood. If you choose to apply the product, lightly sand the table first.
Question: Should this be used after stain is fully dry or right after I stain wood
Answer: I would let it dry first

Roxil Wood Protection Cream

Weatherproof fences, decking, sheds, furniture and more without changing their appearance.

Roxil Wood Protection Cream is a silicone cream emulsion for wooden structures. The unique cream formula is applied in a single coat directly to unpainted softwood timber using a brush or roller. After application, the cream will absorb into the wood surface and create an invisible waterproof barrier.

Waterproofs in a single coat

Most competing wood weatherproofing treatments are spray applied liquids. Liquids, when spraying or applying by brush, are difficult to apply accurately without dripping or splashing onto plant life or adjacent structures. The cream formulation of Roxil Wood Protection Cream is easy to apply neatly and allows for precise and measured application. It also results in a complete even coverage that lasts longer than competitor products.

Roxil Wood Protection Cream will cover approximately 45 – 55 square ft. per quart.

Only a single coat of Roxil Wood Protection Cream is needed to protect cleaned softwood timbers for 10+ years. The cream formula also allows for a quick and accurate application, with no splashback or run off on vertical or horizontal surfaces. To ensure best results, treatment surfaces should first be cleaned using a biocidal wood cleaner. For particularly vulnerable surfaces, a pre-treatment application of a suitable wood rot treatment should be considered.

Unique Cream Formulation - Instantly Waterproof

Most liquid treatments change the appearance of wood, leaving a stained color or a sheen. Roxil Wood Protection Cream does not change the color or texture of the wood that it is applied to, allowing it to retain its natural beauty. If desired, it is possible to apply a stain before the application of Roxil.

Reduces Mold and Algae Growth

Softwoods are highly susceptible to mold and algae growth due to their absorbent nature, especially in areas with high rainfall or in shade. Roxil Wood Protection Cream creates an invisible waterproof barrier that significantly reduces moisture ingress and makes the surface of softwoods inhospitable to mold and algae.

Answer: Solid, worked nice but had to put two coats to really cover good.
Question: So is this 1gallon or 16 gallons? I’ve seen a similar question but I wanna be sure
Answer: One (1) gal. 1-gallon.
Question: In the description, it says 16 gallon. What size is it

The Science of SEAL-ONCE and Innovative Use of Nanotechnology in Wood Finishes & Stains

Unlike many top-coat sealers sold today that trap moisture below the surface, MARINE creates a flexible, breathable barrier which allows water vapor to escape. This key feature helps prevent damage to wood caused by water intrusion, such as: wood rot, decay, mold & mildew growth, cracking & splitting. Typical wood sealers form a barrier on the surface of the wood, trapping moisture below the surface. As the water evaporates, it causes the surface coating and the substrate to crack & peel, leaving a broken surface that requires continued maintenance and is susceptible to additional damage. SEAL-ONCE uses cutting-edge, nano-particle technology to allow wood to breath and help prevent water vapor damage by protecting wood from the inside out.

Water-based Product that Will Not Harm People, Pets, Plants, Livestock or Marine Life.

SEAL-ONCE products are ultra-low VOC, low odor, non-toxic, non-flammable and non-ozone depleting. They are safer for the environment, easier to apply than solvent based wood finishes and clean up with soap & water. They do not contain nitrates, phosphorous compounds or heavy metals like many Oil-based sealers & stains on the market today.

Quick & Easy Application

Apply first coat with a synthetic brush; pump-up garden sprayer; air-assisted; and/or airless sprayer. Use 15-17 tip and medium to coarse spray pattern. When spraying, always back brush for best results. Second coat can be applied once first coat has penetrated, but is still damp. Second coat must be applied within one hour of applying first coat. For best results, apply in the shade and out of direct sunlight. Clean-up brushes or sprayer with warm soapy water.

Choose from 11 Wood Stain Tints

MARINE can be tinted for use as wood stain in any of the 11 color tints available: Clear, Light Brown, Natural, Brown, Mahogany, Redwood, Bronze Cedar, Cedar, Black, Battleship Gray, Shale Gray & Cape Cod Gray. The tints are sold separately and when mixed with Clear, the tinted formula provides additional UV protection from harmful sun rays.

Surface Preparation & Coverage

Approximate coverage: 250-350 sq. ft./gallon per coat. Actual coverage will vary due to the porosity of the surface. All surfaces should be cleaned with SEAL-ONCE All Wood Cleaner before sealing for best penetration and performance. Remove all old coatings, dust, debris and loose material. Remove oil, grease, algae, grime, mill glaze and mold and mildew stains with appropriate cleaners.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it contain teflon
Answer: The product is great and very stable. It is possible to “under mount“ this product. Sink will have to be mounted to a “subframe support” conforming to the entire perimeter of the bowl. The sink can be attached to a 3/4 - 1” frame using the supplied mounting clips. Anything thicker will be questionable. Allow for 1/8” (sink-lip) space between the subframe and the bottom surface of your counter material. An ample application of silicone sealant (Clear) between sink and the counter top will do the job.
Question: Can this be used on painted deck
Answer: Approximately 7 1/2” on my sink.
Question: Can it be brushed on
Answer: The roll up dish rack is included in the package. If not included, pls email to us through [email protected] with your order ID, we will make this correct.
Question: May wood surface be painted with finish after being treated with this sealant
Answer: For proper fit, we recommend taking the exterior dimension of the sink(left to right) and adding at least 3" for access to install hardware. Actually, can be smaller a little than we suggest.

User questions & answers

Question: Can you use a pump sprayer for application
Answer: I've never applied it that way. Brushing or using a pad is how I've applied it and this color turns out beautiful.
Question: Would this work to finish a picnic table
Answer: It will work fine as long as the lumber is dry and treated lumber is sometimes not very dry. I would put 3-4 coats on it because it soaks in quickly. If it sits in the sun, it will require re painting each year most likely.
Question: How much coverage per gallon
Answer: If the wood is dry particularly if it is in the sun a lot then it takes much more waterseal. I painted a fence and a deck and it took 26 gallons. I would guess the fence is 400 feet total and the deck is 24 x 24 feet. The deck had already received 8 coats of waterseal over an 8 year period and it is covered. It took much more than I expected. In fact, I had guessed it would take about 15 gallons. I must say, however, I was very pleased with the outcome both in color and durability. I will use it again.
Question: How u apply on deck post ? Shake well before using ? How many coat needs ? I used one coat , but seems watery, next day check found not wa proof
Answer: I had mine brushed on..A lot depends on how dried out/cracked open the wood is, as to how far in it will soak. It is watery/thin that does help for it to soak in more. It may require more than one coat.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it take a long time to dry
Answer: Just to add and confirm, it will continue to record as others have mentioned and will continue to record so long as you either set record with the controller in headless mode or continue to keep the app open while recording. It will, however, begin to beep insistently while recording for prolonged amounts of time which can be deactivated by unlocking the motor (which will spin the blades but not take off) and will deactivate the beeping for a couple of minutes or so before going off again. The beeping will continuously happen about every 3-5 minutes (sorry cant remember exactly). However If you close the app after initiating record on the app, it may auto stop recording when you close the app and then the auto-off function will kick in for being idle. Since I haven't tested how long it can record off of a full battery because the beeping was too annoying, I'd estimate you could record for upwards of an hour, or about 70-90 minutes if you used the batter solely for recording at 4k, with no flight time, and just left it beeping. (The longest I left it recording only was around 25 minutes just sitting above my desk and i don't think it even used up a full bar but I did intermittently turn on the propellers to stop the beeping. It also got really hot by the end of it). To be clear, you could ignore the beeping and just let it record and the auto off function will not interrupt or stop your recording. I left it on my car hood before and sat inside the car and could not hear the beeping while it recorded away. But again, the drone gets pretty hot around the micro SD card area from recording 4k
Question: How cold can I apply this to my covered porch?? Thanks rr
Answer: No, comes with type C cable that charges through any usb port.
Question: Should I wipe down the wet spots after a few days of drying
Answer: The highest I have got mine to fly is 121 meters (397 feet)
Question: How do you open the plastic seal lid
Answer: Depende como lo vuelas, si quieres volarlo en high speed se te acaba mas rapido. Volando en low speed te da unos minutos mas. Como 18 por ahi

User questions & answers

Question: How much do i need for a deck 12" x 22' first time application
Answer: I came up 7 gallons
Question: Can this product be applied over existing paint/stain
Answer: Stain yes
Question: Does clear have uv protection? the picture of the can says "uv blocking
Answer: I’m not sure as I use it on patio under my deck
Question: How long does ready seal last
Answer: For most applications around 2 years. Can be over 3 or more like 18 months depending on many factors. But what is great about Ready Seal is how easy repeat applications are to freshen up the look. One new coat and be good for another 2 years. PS you still need to freshly clean the surface first so you are not putting stain over dirt.

DEFY 1 Gallon Semi-Transparent Deck Stain for Hardwoods, Light Walnut

DEFY

Based on 47 reviews Check latest price

Product description

DEFY Deck Stain for Hardwoods is a synthetic, semitransparent wood stain specially formulated for use on smooth cedar, mahogany, redwood, and other dense or difficult to penetrate woods. This V.O.C. compliant, water-based formula penetrates deep into wood fibers providing maximum long-term protection from weather damage and color retention superior to conventional stains. It was specifically designed with smaller resin particles to better penetrate wood, which helps to eliminate surface buildup and peeling. This product also works well on composite woods. DEFY Deck Stain for Hardwoods contains powerful sunscreens that block damaging UV rays. Ultraviolet rays cause wood to turn gray and become susceptible to water penetration and decay. Deck Stain for Hardwoods is made with synthetic resins that do not attract mildew and algae like other natural resin (oil-based) stains do. Additionally, this deck stain is a water repellent that reduces water penetration up to 90%. It can be used on interior or exterior smooth hardwood surfaces including: wood siding, decks, outdoor wood furniture, and other hardwood surfaces. For more porous surfaces such as pressure treated, pine and cedar log siding, or rough sawn lumber, use DEFY Extreme Wood Stain. DEFY Deck Stain for Hardwoods is available in three, semi-transparent colors: Cedar Tone, Light Walnut, and Natural Pine. Periodically, as the surface begins to get dirty or dull, simply wash it down with a mild detergent and water. As the weather begins to wear away at the surface and the color begins to fade, a maintenance coat should be applied. The first step in the maintenance process is to apply a coat of Wood Brightener. This will lighten any minor graying and clean the surface. Allow the surface to dry, then apply a single coat of DEFY Deck Stain for Hardwoods.

  • FORMULATED FOR USE ON HARDWOODS – This environmentally friendly, water based deck stain is formulated with smaller resin particles that absorb easier into hard or oily wood types, including smooth cedar, redwood, mahogany, and other dense, or difficult to penetrate woods. The result is a better penetrating deck stain that lasts longer.
  • WATER-BASED, SEMI-TRANSPARENT FINISH - This environmentally friendly, low VOC deck stain protects wood surfaces from fading, graying and damage caused by UV rays. It allows the wood grain to show through with a beautiful semi-transparent, natural matte finish.
  • EXTREMELY DURABLE, HIGH QUALITY RESINS – DEFY Deck Stain for Hardwoods is made with the highest quality resins available that have better resistance to fading and darkening. The result is a quality wood stain that typically lasts a season or two longer than competitive products.
  • RESISTS FLAKING AND PEELING - Penetrates deep into wood fibers and helps eliminate surface buildup and peeling.
  • EASY TO MAINTAIN – When it’s time to do a maintenance coat, there’s no need to sand or strip the surface again. Simply brighten the wood with DEFY Wood Brightener and apply a single maintenance coat of DEFY Deck Stain for Hardwoods.

User questions & answers

Question: Cedar tone color on Cedar - Is cedar tone "orange"? I like the natural color of cedar, but the deck stain for hardwoods does not come in clear
Answer: I don’t know, I just completed my application to my decking and wood fence about 6 months ago and so far they both look great. I don’t think this product will flake or peel off because is a stain but I think is best if you contact the manufacturer and see what they will advise you. So far under the Phoenix Sun I can see a little fading but I will reapply again in about a year or so. Thanks for the question, Jorge
Question: can this stain be mixed to make other colors
Answer: I‘ve used this stain for many years on my decks. I’ve restained the horizontal surfaces every other year, the vertical surfaces every 5 years. I just completely stripped old twp stain off of my deck this spring and stained it in May with one coat of Ready Seal. I thought I probably needed two coats since it was the first staining of a clean deck, but waited to see. It faded quite a bit (not surprised) and I added a second coat earlier today. Based on past experience, I expect this to hold its color well for a couple of years, then I’ll hose it off (not powerwash) and add another coat on the horizontal surfaces in 2 years, and I’ll do the same on the vertical surfaces in about 5 years.
Question: Saw some comment saying reapply in one or two year. Does it mean reapply on top of the one year old coat
Answer: It's used on decks quite a bit and I'm not aware of anybody ever having an issue. It's on my deck and more than one child has crawled around on that without growing a third eye.
Question: Is cedar tone "orange" on the Hardwood-specific stain? I like the natural color of cedar, but it is only available in standard - non-hardwood product
Answer: Check out pics on the Ready Seal website. Color varies based on wood type. I’m not sure about longevity on a fence, I’ve only used it in decks. With decks I’ve found that after getting the original staining established (two coats for decks in my experience), it lasts for about two years, then I hose it off (not powerwash) and add another coat to the horizontal surfaces. I do the same on the vertical surfaces about once every 5 years.
