Question:	How many coats should I use on Western red Cedar before painting with a top coat
Answer:	Depends upon the dryness of the wood and how you apply it. First time, I needed two coats due to rolling on by hand, for good coverage, and I switched to spray with backrolling which seemed to increase coverage with only 1 coat. I did two coats on the siding and trim on my chimnney since it was up in the elements moreso then anywhere else on my home. Your mileage may vary, start with one coat and see how your coverage is, how the wood uptakes the sealant and go from there. You'll know.
Question:	Does this contain the iodine preservative ipbc (3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate)? thanks
Answer:	According to the manufacturer's SDS, yes it does.
Question:	How many coats should I use on Western red Cedar before painting with a top coat
Answer:	Just be generous with one coat. Keep spreading it to the "thirsty spots." If you try and recoat after the first coat dries, it will repel itself as it is water based.
Question:	Can i use this product in a wagner power painter
Answer:	Yes, I cannot see why not. I'd dial down the pressure as much as possible as it is quite watery. I've used a pump sprayer to apply it to fence pickets before so your application should work just fine. Don't thin, clean up with warm soapy water before product dries. From the manufacturer: - Airless spray is recommended forexisting wood installations or when dipping is not possible.Use a 0.011-0.021 inch tip and 100 mesh filter screen at250-500 psi. Adjust pressure when necessary to minimizeoverspray and fogging. For best results, back brush alongthe grain to remove any drips or runs, and any unevencoverage or surface puddles before the project dries.

Question:	The instructions say to use with softwoods. What about hardwoods
Answer:	"Hardwood" describes wood from trees that lose their leaves seasonally. "Softwood" refers to conifers (e.g. pine trees). There are plenty of Hardwoods that are softer than hard Softwoods (though generally hardwoods tend to be sturdier than softwoods). I suspect they're recommending this for use with Softwoods because they'll be more likely to absorb this than a hardwood would. There's a reason why you don't generally see Pine used to make Barrels (or boats), other than because any consumable liquid you put in a pine barrel would taste like Pine air-freshener smells. If my suspicion is correct, that they're worried about hard closed-pore woods not absorbing this as well as "softwoods".. there are some "Hardwoods" that are very much like "Softwoods" in this regard. For Example.. White Oak is used for Wine Barrels because it has closed pores (and because it has some natural resistance to decay.. more than other North American & European hardwoods). Red Oak, on the other hand, has open pores which makes it way more water permiable. You can actually take a small piece of red oak (like a dowel), put one end in water and blow in the other end, and (depending on the cut and particular tree) you can actually create bubbles in the water because the open pores act like straws. Anyway.. bottom line.. I strongly suspect they're recommending for Soft Woods because they expect they will absorb more of the material.. which would also be important for it to not leave a goopy coating since it applies like a thin paste. For these reasons, it would probably work well on open-pored hardwoods too. I suspect this won't work well with pressure-treated wood either. The protectant that is applied deep into the wood under pressure would close up the pores (by design), prevent this from penetrating into the wood (same problem we have with gluing pressure treated wood). Not only would this decrease it's effectiveness, it would also adversely affect how it looks after it dries. You'll end up with a much thicker top-coat if it can't absorb into the wood. ---Steven. P.S. I was going to check the questions to see if there was info about using this as an anti-rot protectant under a final top-coat.. until I saw in the that it's silicon based. I know it's not related to this specific question but... Silicone-based products are hydrophobic (they repel water). If you tried paint over this with a water-based latex finish, it wouldn't stick. The Roxil would literally push the paint away from it's surface electrostaticly, the same way it makes water drops beed-up. Bummer, for a moment I had hopped this might be a clear alternative to green copper-based wood protectant.. which requires a bit more work to cover with White top-coats. :-/. Oh well.. still looks interesting for what it is. I'm going to get a quart to try out.
Question:	Can this be used on pressure treated wood
Answer:	I just submitted an answer to another question here.. about this product being recommended for Softwood, not Hardwood. Please check that answer out after it's been approved for posting to see the following in it's full context. Here's the bit I included there specifically about using this with pressure treaded wood though.. "I suspect this won't work well with pressure-treated wood either. The protectant that is applied deep into the wood under pressure would close up the pores (by design), prevent this from penetrating into the wood (same problem we have with gluing pressure treated wood). Not only would this decrease it's effectiveness, it would also adversely affect how it looks after it dries. You'll end up with a much thicker top-coat if it can't absorb into the wood." Sorter context: I think they recommend only using on softwood because it's more likely to absorb deeply into softwood than (most) hardwood. Because it's a paste.. it is either going to absorb into the wood, or it's going to dry as a thick top-coat that's more likely to wear or wash away. The Pressure-Treatment process would also prevent this from absorbing deep into the wood fiber and pores. I suspect (but can't confirm, yet) that this won't apply well to Pressure treated wood for this reason.. at least not to new pressure-treated wood. If you wanted to protect old PT wood that's got a dry weathered surface, you might have more success. --hope this helps, even though it's not based on first-hand knowledge.. just my experience working with wood. :-)

Answer:	I fear the clear coat will repel the Roxil Wood Protection Cream from absorbing into the table wood. If you choose to apply the product, lightly sand the table first.

Answer:	yes it will, that's how I applied it.

Answer:	I did not heed the "one year" to dry on the new portion of my deck. Did old and new at the same time when the new portion was perhaps 2 months old. There was a definite difference. I washed and brightened both. Also did two coats. The 2nd coat was done while the first coat was still wet as per instructions. Also brushed vs. rolled. The stain seeped into the older wood much better and the color is richer. Don't believe the stain will last for years. In covered areas yes, it does. But my deck area that gets full S.Carolina sun, does not last the year. I re-stained last year and will be doing a layer of water proofing on horizontal surfaces this year in hopes that I won't have to stain again for a while. I am still happy that I bought the water based just because of the clean up and the ease of re-staining even if I feel I had to do it much quicker than if I had used oil based.
Question:	Can I use this on my new cream colored bamboo blinds? Unsure about the method they were colored, but almost no sheen. Want stain protection in kitchen
Answer:	Hard to say without looking at the wood , but if the wood still looks porous enough we're the Stain can soak in some I would think a light coat possibly 2 would do it. It's very thin milky color but dries clear

Answer:	Using it for 10 years, great on fences. Apply W weed oil sprayer. Brush W 4" throw away brush as needed. Time between coats varies W the look you want. 2-3 years looks great. At 5 years fading is noticeable. Apply when cool. Dampen surfaces to get soak in.

Answer:	This is a kitchen product, so I would think not. Kitchen items are not very coated, and this is a product that soaks into wood. I believe it would be oily on furniture. Recommend you research on line to determine appropriate product for furniture.
Question:	Would this be okay for seasoning cast iron
Answer:	Yes. It’s food safe ingredients and I’ve used it for my wood cutting boards wooden utensils and salad bowls and on my cast iron pan. Works great! This is definitely an off books application, but my hands have become very dry from all my hand washing these days and a tiny bit rubbed on my hands relieves the dryness too.
Question:	Will this work (and is it recommended for use) on Bamboo floors
Answer:	Hmmm I would not use it on bamboo floors as it is designed for a specific purpose and the ration of oil to the waxes is for food grade type items. Most bamboo flooring comes with some sort of a protective layer rather than being plain wood like a cutting board or kitchen coooking spoon, for example. I suppose if you had a scrap from the flooring you could try and see what it does. My guess is there is a similar product specifically for floors out there somewhere and that is what you might look for. That being said. This is a TERRIFIC product and it would be great if the company has a floor specific product.
Question:	Would this product work well for soapstone counters
Answer:	This product is made from food grade mineral oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax, with soapstone not being porous, I would research this more ! It will seal the surface and the mineral oil will darken the stone. Carnauba wax is used in automobile waxes, so proceed with caution.

Answer:	I don't believe there is any warranty. We applied it two years ago and the covered areas still look good. The section in direct Sun...needs to have it applied again.
Question:	How long can the product be stored once the container is opened
Answer:	We actually used some that we had stored in our garage that was left over from the last time we stained our siding and that was in the summer of 2012, 6 yrs ago. When we removed the lid, it looked like it had become a gel but my husband used a drill with a paint mixer/stirrer tool and it became liquefied again. We applied it to the siding without incident and the color matched the new 5 gallon containers we bought this summer .
Question:	I have 275 ft of fence plus a gate- what's the coverage with using a sprayer
Answer:	I’m in the process of staining my fence (I am using a different brand) with a semi-transparent stain. I have 187’ of fence at 5’ high including 2 gates. Applied with a roller and brush, I’m going to need around 13 gallons. My recommendation is rent a sprayer from Home Depot. You’ll save time and money as you’ll use less product and it will go much much faster.
Question:	we have a heavy dining set and i am worried about scratches after i stain, how does it hold up to heavy chairs moving back and forth
Answer:	I have a deck/patio furniture set, including a cast iron umbrella base. Lots of use over the last year with no evidence of scratches in the deck. The stain penetrates the wood rather than building a barrier so dragging stuff across the boards won't take it off provided the wood is properly prepared.

Answer:	On a hot sunny day with one quick coating like 30 min. I did multiple coats on a raised bed garden and it took almost a day to fully dry. It looks great though!

Answer:	I sprayed on the wood directly two times in a row and it came out very well. I used a paper towel to clean around the area I did not intend to spray to begin with. I used the stain on the outside deck where we had a deep hole filled with wood filler. The stain on the filler blended in with the stain on the deck.

The end colour depends on the natural colour of the wood. The best effects are gained with light woods such as pine. No sanding required between coats. Answer:	I haven't tried but other reviews indicate the fast drying formula is already thinned out

Answer:	This is not a paint, but rather a stain. If you're looking to cover up defects or anything along those lines this will not work. Yes, it will alter the color of the wood with one use though.

Answer:	It's not a gel stain but the consistency is thicker than a regular stain.
Question:	Should this be applied with a brush or cloth
Answer:	We used a brush to apply and a cloth to rub it in/off after a few minutes. It's very easy to work with.

Sand with Increasing Fine Grits

• Sand bare wood in the direction of the grain
• Start with #120 grit sandpaper and progress through #150, #180 and #220 grits
• Wipe clean with mineral spirits

Stain with Brush or Lint-Free Cloth

• Apply liberally with brush or clean, lint-free rag
• Wait 5-10 minutes according to color preference
• Wipe off with clean, lint-free cloth in the direction of wood grain

Answer:	I bought 2 gallons of light oak about a month ago. Look again or call the company.
Question:	Can I reapply this over the old coat when I need to
Answer:	I'd clean the boards the best you can and let them dry, and then yes, you can reapply it. It says so on the can.
Question:	How many sq ft will 2.5 gallons cover
Answer:	depends. cover says 100 - 150 sq ft per gallon. I used 7.5 gallons on about 600sq ft of deck and barely had enough, that was 2 coats. 1st coat sucked up a lot, 2nd coat went a lot farther
Question:	How many years on before having to reapply
Answer:	I live at 9000 ft. in the mountains- .wind, rain, snow, UV. I try to touch up every 2-3 years.
