One is actually mounted 27' from the ground and it also works great for detecting motion on the ground. You can also install them in parallel so that if one triggers, the other one will also go on. This way you can light up the whole end of the house if either detects motion. These are great lights- I highly recommend them. |

They continue, "During vacations the evening timer provides a 'lived-in' look by simulating an occupant turning lights on at dusk". They also go on to state, "once 8 hours have passed, the sensor will revert to motion activated mode". I would assume based on the "vacation" comment that this will continue until you turn the evening timer off. Hope this helps. |

| Answer: | The number denotes bulb width in eighth inch increments. 38 * 1/8=4 3/4". 40 * 1/8=5" An "R" designated bulb has a frosted face for light diffusion and the bulb envelope is made of lightweight blown glass. This type of bulb is not well suited for long life or exposure to the elements. It would shatter if rain or snow came in contact with a hot surface. You typically wouldn't want the light diffused by the frosted face in this application anyway. The "B" in the designation is for the brass base. PAR bulbs use a 2 piece bulb envelope. An aluminum reflector and a face or 'lens' that amplifies or concentrates the light into a specific directed pattern. Why in the world would you put a lower performing bulb that is not this application in a security light? Those BR40 will throw light everywhere you don't want it and diffuse the light they do make. There are a multitude of choices in PAR38 sizes to pick from LED Halogen or standard incandescent. I would not recommend CFLs because they will not operate at lower temperatures. I have Cree LEDs in mine which look physically like the 'old' bulbs and illuminate the same as well color temp wise and lumen intensity. Go with whats recommended and you'll be happy. I would suggest going to a store that sells this product so you can see how it illuminates. I am not sure how big an area you are looking to light but this throws light up about 20 ft. and about 15 ft. wide with the fixture being about 2 ft. from the front of the building. |

Amazon is not a approved supplier for RAB, so your 1 year warranty is voided once you purchase from Amazon. If you bought an extended warranty through amazon your only option is to replace whole unit. I have read that RAB parts are not sold to public by people with your issue. My light blew up on install with a professional electrician. RAB ignored me no parts no warranty because amazon is not approved seller. Amazon Refunded even thought I waited a year to install unit. I have a $250 paper weight box. My Electrician warned to stay away from RAB. Seems to be a fancy steel fixture with total junk wired inside. There other companies that sell security lights , but they are not as pretty like RAB. If you must have this pretty light buy a an extended warranty. Forgot to mention how awesome amazon is thanks for taking care of my return after one year. |

Darkness before a good thunderstorm, at dawn and dusk often is dark enough for the motion detector to turn on the light. |

| Answer: | I'm not sure. I don't have any boxes behind my lights. They're on my garage, so I just mounted them right to the side of the garage. If the box is flush with the building, it will probably work. If not, You'll probably need some kind of adaptor plate. I'm sure you can get the dimensions of the base. Also, you might want to download the instructions (which you can probably get from the manufacturer's web site) and they'll show you a range of installation possibilities. These lights are great though. Worth EVERY penny. |

| Answer: | I have 2 pairs (4 RAB sensors). They sense motion at 75+ feet. But of course it depends on the positioning of the sensor and the vertical height above grade. NB: After 2 years one of my sensors recently failed. It was replaced by the RAB people w/o charge. Clipper |

| Answer: | Working with my electrician, it was mounted on a normal wet-location circular box obtained from Home Depot, with exterior conduit piping to bring the electric cables to it. It is mounted under the eves on an outside wall of my home in Hilo, HI, essentially a rain forest environment, and has given me no trouble.
