Set it to auto mode for motion sensing.

When you toggle the side switch into automatic, you’re firing up the integrated light and motion sensors. These automatically control the lamp’s response to its intelligent reading of your lighting needs: Only when sensing motion – within the range of 110° x 90° and up to 4 meters in distance – in the dark, the lamp will activate its LED array. The light will remain on until approximately 15 seconds after all motion has ceased.

Answer:	I don't see why not. I haven't tested to see if they work while charging, but if they are "on" when being charged, they will light up.

Question:	How long on average dose the battery last while not plugged in to the car charger
Answer:	The lights have attatched a self stick 3M pad so you can mount them anywhere, even upside down. They will also lay flat or on their side if the self stick pad is not used, but they will tip over easily or get kicked out to the way. The self stick pad is great and will stick almost anywhere.
Question:	I purchased this model and the motion sensor does not work. The camera never turns on while I'm away from the vehicle, only while driving
Answer:	Good question. They use 3 AA batteries and I have had mine installed for a couple of months and no sign of them needing to be replaced. If I were to guess I would say they will last 6 months or more. But as you know it depends on how much they are used. They are great lights and I highly recommend them.

Answer:	When it's dark, under auto mode, it lights up only when there's motion that activates it. If your closet door is closed, the light won't turn on until you open the door of the closet.

Question:	How do you set the modes on these light? I think mine only has on and off? How do you set the motion activation
Answer:	As far as I can tell, you can NOT set the motion. I have purchased 4 of them, and put in various places and my dogs trigger the motion, so I know where they are in my yard. On/Off switch only. Sun has to charge the light for the motion to switch on.

Answer:	When I received them they were charged. I put them up and since then they only ran out of charge once. It was a very windy night ant the lights are near a tree that was blowing around from the wind and as they should with motion they go on. How long they lasted I don’t know but by the next evening they were working again.

Answer:	The instructions that came with my pack said there is only one function: when dark detect motion, light for 30 seconds. The mode button is only functioning like an on & off button.

Answer:	We have only had ours mounted a few months but did have some snow a few days and they still worked great. No difference than warmer weather.

Answer:	Only have one button on the back in a recessed area. No sliding switch. Wonder if they accidentally left it off ? If I click it it changes the mode each time I click, but it is hard to figure out which corresponds to A, B, & C in the instructions. Wonder if I should send the set of 4 that are like that back?

Answer:	Yes, a small dog will turn it on. Typically ours gets turned on at night by rabbits in our lawn. Doesn't bother it though, the solarpanels keep it charged and it always works.

Answer:	This lamp does not have a bulb that you can change.. The body lights up and the shade lights up, but they run off of batteries. There is no way to change a bulb. It’s a great little lamp, but it projects white light, so would not keep mosquitoes away. I use it indoors.

Question:	Can this unit be either wall mounted or ceiling (under-soffitt) mounted, or is it wall mount only
Answer:	This unit is designed to be installed wall mounted. It can be mounted on the ceiling but it will not be effective. It will defeat the purpose. I do not recommend it to be installed in the ceiling
Question:	What is life expectancy of sensor part? They seem to go bad after a year
Answer:	Life expectancy is rather poor. Replaced one that failed (mounted in a dry location no less) in the fall then had to replace it again the following summer ~10 months. The careful observer of this product will notice that Heath Zenith reduced their warranty on their "dual bright" motion sensors from what was originally 10 years to 2 years if that tells you anything.
Question:	it s a waterproof
Answer:	Its an outdoor fixture..so, yes it is made to take outdoor weather however it must be installed properly. Now, with that being said; I have been using this brand for over twenty years and some will last 3 years others 10 years...Its generally the motion sensor portion that will fail!! Hope this helps..
Question:	does this light come on at night when activated, and not in the daytime
Answer:	The light only activates at night and not during the day - unless it is really overcast.You can make your sensitive and distance adjustments during the day - and the light does not come on but you will se a small red light blink instead - to let you know when the light would come on.I really like these lights, I have used 3 of them for many, many years and only recently just replaced 2 of them - the plastic covering over the sensor eventually gets brittle and cracks when you press on it - but the rest of the unit will hold up forever.
