Answer: | They make connecting exsiting wires to new sensor very easy and quick, just snip and strip wires from existing sensor, remove red cap from clear plastic, place stripped wire in metal fork repositon red cap to same original orientation and press it into place, locking in the connection. Cavity in clear plastic should contain a clear grease which protects and waterproofs the connection. Don't over think this, its quick and easy. Do place wires in same orientation entering sensor as original wires. mine worked fine first try. I'm very pleased with these devices. Good luck --from Lee |

Answer: | They just splice in to the existing sensor wires going up to the opener . In the front of the red cap there are two holes . Place One of the two wires coming from the center into one of the holes. Please one of the other wires coming from the garage on one of the sides of the garage into the other hole. Clamp down on the red button like it is a button with ploers and it will click in and connect the wires together and make connection without having to strip the wire at all. |

Answer: | I don't know what they are called but they are slick. You simply bare the wires, slide all four wires into the the connector and squeeze the discs down. It's idiot proof and seems to be a nice, weatherproof connection. |

It worked flawlessly, I just installed it this past weekend (oct 25, 2014) Was worried I was going to need to install some lab version, but it showed up as a garage door opener, it reports open/closed, it can be activated as the app. I haven't set any special rules for it as I am still new to SmartThings, but based on its behaviors so far, it's rock solid. Also the device was pretty easy to install. The unit comes as 2 parts, a tilt sensor, and a box (thats in the photo) that mounts up near the opener itself. The tilt sensor runs on batteries, the unit needs to be plugged in, so that could be a problem if you dont have an available power outlet near the garage door opener. It also does not interrupt or affect the normal open close action of your buttons or remotes. |

When they first arrived I did a quick (though not terribly accurate) test to see how close I needed the magnets to get a good signal. Beyond about 15 mm wasn't workable, and inside about 10 mm produced a workable signal. |

Answer: | Fluorescent lights generally have the ballast mounted between the bulbs which allows true flush mounting of the fixture. These have a solid state driver (the LED version of a ballast) mounted in an enclosure on top of the fixture that runs the length of it. It’s a few inches wide. So technically you could “flush mount” them but the entire fixture will not be flush, just the power supply enclosure and it will not be easy to do it and manage the wiring. I hung some just from the wire brackets through some hooks but it does not look like a clean installation like a fluorescent fixture. |

The installation instructions were included in the 200 or so units that we have received thus far and again, are basic in content. |
