I'd like to point out an important caveat that while the article itself did not make, it acknowledges with another link in-article (https://www.cnet.com/news/do-you-need-new-hdmi-cables-for-hdr/) as well as with the big "(probably)" in its title; that caveat is DISTANCE. Obviously, use the cheapest cable that works, but you'll find that at 15+ ft, many HDMI cables begin failing if you try running it at high quality (eg 4K@60Hz with a 50ft cable). --- For the original question, yes, I have tired this cable at 4k hdr @60hz. Short answer: No it does not work well. Try this instead: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BFK6RMS/. Alternatively you can try the cheapest 2x 35ft HDMI cables you can find and get a signal booster/amplifier/repeater. Long answer: I've always thought signal degradation in long cables were theoretical and never happened... to my chagrin, I've found that it's very real. But Bluerigger is probably one of the best HDMI cables on Amazon. Trying to run my TV on 4K@60Hz with GPU of GTX970: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RYRJYDG and https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N4IF327 and https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B008U7SLJW/ was solid black. TV was recognized, but no display or "Invalid Format" display. On occasion there will be barely readable flickering display and even rarer occasions it works for a period of time until next session. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GW25WY was actually able to run 4K@60Hz with barely perceptible flickering every 2-5 minutes to my surprise. With https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BFK6RMS/, I haven't noticed any flickering when I tested it for an hour yesterday. Hoping it'll continue to work. We'll see. |
