Question:	How tall is the mesh shade
Answer:	If you want to mount it flush without using the chains so that it's closer to the ceiling, I'd say it would be difficult but possible. I bought it thinking I might do that, but I would have had to buy extra parts to make that work. In the end I mounted it as shown and it looks great.
Question:	Can this be hung downward, the other direction
Answer:	I believe the chain was about 6' long. The top of the chain fits onto a round ceiling mount that connects to a ceiling electrical supply box. I used the lamp for a play at my high school and easily replaced the chain with one that was much longer. The length of chain will be limited to the length of the electrical cord and ground wire, which as I recall was about 7 or 8 feet long.

Answer:	I imagine SO , as long as there is a beam strong enough to hold the weight. Be aware though ( I was not) that the minimum length this fixture will hang from ceiling to lowest point is around 1 metre) so it needs a quite high ceiling to suit
