It's a tight fit, but it should fit. Then there's a hand-held remote, with a holster that screws onto your light switch plate or onto your wall. It helps to be a little bit handy to do this job. I wouldn't ask my brother-in-law to do it. ;-) |

| Answer: | I presume that you did check to make sure that the wall switch was in the "ON" position when the failure occurred. You basically have two switches in series. Both must be in the "CLOSED" or "ON" position for proper functioning. If the wall switch was "ON" and the battery was good as indicated by the LED then it could be a defective receiver. If there are solid state components in the receiver then a failure in the first few weeks is almost more likely than after 5 years since the tiniest spec of dirt migrating on the solid-state devices can cause failure. This kind of dirt migration usually happens in the first 90 days after warm up and cool down cycles. |

| Answer: | The average receiver is approximately 3 1/2" long, 2 1/4" wide, and 1/2" thick. I have installed 15-20 of them and never encountered a receiver that would not fir within the fan canopy. Some flush mount ceiling fan canopies are tight but newer model fans accommodate most receivers. |

| Answer: | It cannot be used right away out of the box. You have to take the fan apart. This remote comes with a specific receiver that you have to use and replace your old receiver with. If your fan has the receiver in the main manifold of the fan, the big part the blades are actually attached to, then I would recommend just getting another fan. Taking apart the main motor housing is a pain. If the receiver is in the base part of the fan, where the support/mounting pole meets the ceiling, in the little dome, you can pop off the molding and rewire the new receiver in place.I bought 2 of these remotes as replacements hoping I could just reprogram them via frequency dip switches (like a lot of other fan remotes have) and not have to replace the old receiver in the fan and go through the hassle of rewiring it, but that ins't possible with this remote. The receiver unit must be replaced with the one that comes in the packaging. I hope this helps. |

Since I didn't want a remote in the first place, this isn't a big deal. If you simply omit the receiver from the installation, you can wire both switches separately but you lose fan speed control. So, I am only using the receiver for the fan. My two wall switches independently turn the light and fan on and off, and so far it seems to remember the fan speed I selected. I keep the remote in a drawer and use it on rare occasions when I want to change the fan speed. |

The remote control is a little tricky when it comes to obtaining the desired level of light in the room. Just keep your thumb on the button, and the lighting will dim and then slowly brighten up the room. Release your thumb when it reaches the desired level of light in the room. For the fan portion of the remote control, there are buttons marked "0", "1", "2", & "3". The "0" turns off the fan. The other numbers represent the speed of the fan. |
