The second thing is, according to Philips, outdoor use of Hue bulbs will likely decrease the lifespan of the bulb considerably in comparison to when used indoors. The third thing is a personal observation - they are very expensive bulbs and hotly sought after. Installing them outside makes them susceptible to being stolen! If you're installing Hue color bulbs, you will obviously change the color of the lights. Others will see observe this and assume you have Philips or some other smart bulb (which they're all expensive), making them more susceptible to being stolen. Just a heads-up. |

| Answer: | No one WANTS to change a battery periodically but if there is no available outlet, it’s better than nothing. And every couple of years is no big deal. (Plus it looks much better if there is no electrical cord running down the side of your house.) |
| Question: | Can I use this to trigger other smart outlets |
| Answer: | Short answer: Yes Long answer: It depends. I don’t know how home automation works with android, but Phillips Hue is Apple HomeKit compatible. The sensor shows up as 3 sensors in the Apple Home app, motion sensor, light/lux sensor, and temperature sensor. You can create automation rules in Apple Home that can control any HomeKit compatible outlet. I don’t know if Phillips Hue has released any smart outlets (pretty sure they just do lighting), but if so then you could probably create a routine for it in the Hue app. Note: If you’re new to HomeKit, you should be aware that Apple HomeKit automation only works when you have an Apple device acting as a home automation hub. This can either be an AppleTV or iPad (that stays at home). If all you have is an iPhone, it either won’t work at all, or if it does it will only work when your iPhone is connected to your home WiFi. |

| Answer: | Glad to see there's finally a work around for this. I previously had an app (I can't remember the name) that allowed you to create logic linked to any smart platform... and also use things like the Nest Doorbell... so I had it set to: Hue came on sunset at 10% dim. If Nest detects person, set Hue outdoor lights to 100% Brightness for 30sec., then activate scene 10% dim. It worked great, but the people who developed that app discontinued it. It worked for a while afterward too but then one day just stopped. I'm so glad to see I can do this again!!! (since you can buy "dumb" lights that do this on their own with 2 level dusk dawn motion sensors) |

| Answer: | Have you tried turning the bulb off and on every few seconds until the bulb starts flickering and then your Hue bridge will detect it. Good luck. | Answer: | The hue hub directly controls the bulbs (one hue hub can control 50? bulbs). Alexa can install a “skill” (an app/program) that communicates with the hue hub. The end result: You say “alexa turn on bedroom light", Alexa passes the request to the hue hub, hub turns the light on, Alexa gets a reply that the request was fulfilled and lights are on. You can control the hue hub directly with an app, or you can use an apple or google smart device to do the same thing that alexa does. |

I tried to leave a review on my purchase, but the message says they’ve noticed unusual reviews on this product so they won’t let me leave one. Guess everyone is having the same issue. |

| Answer: | Just got these for Prime Day deal. You need a hub to take full advantage of voice control (Alexa/Google). Otherwise, you need to set them up via Bluetooth for Alexa which means the Echo device needs to be within 30 feet of the lights. Even my Echo Dot 4 feet away from the lights, the operation of the bulbs is hit and miss. Worked bout 85% of the time. The rest of the time the Echo said it couldn't communicate with the lights. You can also use the Philips Hue (Bluetooth) app. For the price, I really was not impressed with the functionality of them. Also purchased some LOHAS Smart LED bulbs (got 3 bulbs for the price of these 2) and those work great. The LOHAS are both Bluetooth and Wifi, with no hub needed at all. Cant really recommend the Philips as I don't want to purchase a hub. Will most likely return these as the LOHAS bulbs work way better. |

| Answer: | I have one that came with my Echo Show 10, it paired with the Echo Show and the other Echos can control it no issue. But you have to have an Echo with Zigbee function - that means the older Echo Plus, or the new 4th gen Echo or an Echo Show 10. If not, you'll need to use Hue's hub and use the Hue skill to link to your Alexa network. Of the choices, I recommend the show, because it gives you visuals when installing. however most my smart devices are wifi using the Smart Life app and intergrate using that skill. |
