Q: With this whole house system, do I still need to install a water softener if my water is very hard?

A: Yes, a water softener is needed if your source water has a high level of hardness, usually with TDS higher than 700 PPM. Hard water can reduce the lifespan of whole house water filter cartridges. The harder the water, the greater amount of scale buildup occurs, and the sooner the filters get clogged.

It is recommended that you install this WGB21B series whole house system after your water softener to achieve optimal performance if you have hard water.

Answer:	I am on city water, we get lots of calcium scale. So I am using a calcium filter right after the meter (to keep scale out of all my pipes) then a carbon under sink filter for taste. I don't care if my boiler or toilet water tastes good, but want better taste out of the sink, dishwasher, ect.

Your flow rate, intended use, and other factors will affect which system you should choose. This is sold as a whole-house filter, not a drinking water system.

Answer:	Any standard 10" replacement cartridge can be used with this filter housing. The "Frequently Bought Together" section has a sample of filters available. I use a sentiment cartridge ahead of a charcoal cartridge (in 2 separate filter housings) to remove particulates and odors from my water. Works very well.

Answer:	This filter will only remove sediments such as dirt, rust particles, etc which are larger than the pore size of the filter cartridge. Calcium and magnesium are dissolved minerals. I’d suggest a water softener. I use the Fleck 5600SXT which does a good job. I use the Big Blue 20” filter inline before the water softener
Question:	Where can I get the o-rings for this housing
Answer:	The top one is Pentek 151122. I have not been able to find the 6" side o-ring. Maybe the Pentek 151122 can stretch to fit? Not sure. I think the side o-ring isn't that important, the top one is doing all the work.
Question:	Does this housing comes with the two O rings
Answer:	Yes the filter came with the O-rings and the mounting plate along with screws to mount the bracket to the top of the black lid that the housing screws into. Also the unit comes with the appropriate lubricating grease for the O-rings and it is strongly advised that the installer uses this grease on the entire O-ring surface to prevent tearing of the O-ring while tightening the housing.
Question:	Are threr any cartridge type filters that will remove TDS from water to use in a humidifier

Using it as a well water sediment filter, install on the main cold water line near your water storage tank coming from the well. Question:	Where do you install this thing? does it have to be under the house
Answer:	I use this filter for the entire house. Thus, I have my plumber install it near my house water main entry, after the water meter & water pressure regulator. Since I don't trust the shut off valve on the top of the filter plastic housing, I ask my plumber to install 2 quarter-turn ball valves -- one in each side of the housing. Before I change the filter, I will shut off both valves first -- not water comes into the filter and no water flows back to the filter; then, I turn the value on the top of the filter housing to release the pressure. Next, I use the wrench to loosen the transparent housing. Hope this helps. The most important thing is that you need 2 good quality ball valves on both side of the filter assembly. Having these 2 valves, you can change the filter easily as well as replace the entire filter housing assembly with ease.
Question:	Can be installed outdoor
Answer:	I installed mine outdoor but I built a small 'closet' around it to protect it from freezing temperatures AND from the sun since UV typically degrades plastic.
Question:	If PVC pipe is used in the well house, can this be attached using that type of pipe and fittings
Answer:	I used silicone gasket compound on the fittings that screw into the filter housing instead of teflon tape to make sure they would not leak. I purchased a Culligan mounting bracket to help support the filter housing since the pipe is cpvc. I also added by-pass valves and pipe so that if I need to replace the filter housing I will still have water. A few dollars more, but I will always have water.

Answer:	Oh, it isn't hard at all. Shut the water valve, use the tool to unscrew the case and remove the filter. Then put if back. The included tool is perfect and I feel like you don't need to over tighten the case. No leaks at all.

This means water from every output in your home or business will have passed through the three filtration stages of the WGB32B. So what exactly do these three stages of filtration offer? Used as the first stage of defense on the system, the stage 1 housing holds a 5-micron high-capacity polypropylene sediment filter. This filter removes dirt and other various larger sized particles from the water that can clog the following filters. The second and third stages of the WGB32B house 5-micron CTO coconut shell carbon block filters. Block carbon is more effective than other forms of carbon in that it is finely ground up carbon packed into a solidified block.
